I've no idea if we paid Arthur Surveying Company a fair price. I have no idea if indeed their work was accurate. I do know they were not punctual, did not call to keep us informed of delays or even to say when they had finished. They did not get our names right on the documents (2 separate times) and then filed the documents without our names on the property at all rather than taking the time to correct their mistake! In December we purchased a 12 acre property on a bluff that included a forested area as well as a cleared area above. None of the property had fencing or markers to indicate where our lines ended and it is all undeveloped forest adjacent. So that we could put in fencing or at least know where our lines were we decided to have it resurveyed and marked. On January 18, 2013 we hired Arthur Surveying Company to come out, mark the boundary corners and to stake the lines every 25 feet or so to enable us to go back in and permanently mark them or add fences, and for them to submit the new survey into record. They wanted payment up front and indicated it would be a few days before they could come out to do the job. As to cost, they charged us $900.00 to mark the boundary corners and they charged us $500.00 for their estimated 4 hours to walk the lines and mark them. I have no idea if that was a fair price or not, but we agreed to that so I'm not complaining about cost. The rest of their work we feel should have been handled very differently and more accurately. It was not a few days but in fact was a couple of weeks before they started work, and then they only marked the south two corners. A few days later they came back and marked the other corners. Another week or so went by before they finally marked the temporary stakes for us. Communication with them was not ideal. They never took the initiative to call us and were not accurate with their answers regarding time frame for completion when we did speak. Had they called or emailed us to say they were running behind or their surveyor was ill or something I would not have taken issue with their poor management of our job. February 13th, After they finished staking the lines they emailed us the survey and it had the PREVIOUS OWNERS names on it for the property. I immediately called to bring this to their attention. The next day they emailed a new one with our names on it but incorrectly spelled. I called and brought this to their attention. They said they would correct it. And then they FILED the DOCUMENT WITHOUT our names on it at all! All of the adjacent property owners names were on there, but they chose to leave off our names completely. There was no deadline for them to file this new survey. They arbitrarily decided they had had enough with our project and sent it in blank- no owner name whatsoever. I have no idea if we paid a fair rate for the job or even if they did a competant job marking our boundaries. I do know their business practices where our job was concerned were poor to failing, professionalism non existant, punctuality a joke. I do Not recommend them and should write a letter to the BBB to get them on file.
Description of Work: 1) To mark the property boundary corners for our 12 acre property in Copper Canyon 2) To mark with wood stakes all of the property lines so that we could go back in and put up fences. 3) To file with the state or whomever the new survey document since we had purchased this property in December and the previous owners' name was on the last one done.
