A-1 Guaranteed Foundation Repair

They came out to look at the foundation and assessed the foundation telling me I needed repairs to about 40% of my home. I was surprised at the affordability of their quote, even when they had an outside engineer come in and assess who determined I should have a few more pier put in. The quote did not go up that much more and they gave me additional credits than originally agreed upon. They kept in contact with me to keep things moving forward and told me exactly what to expect, which was all right on target. The work was performed in one day and they finished earlier than I expected. During the project the project manager, kept me informed each hour as to where they were at, what was happening and what was next. They were professional - all the workers on the job were working diligently as I was watching closely. When they were done we inspected the project and made sure the sprinklers were still working. The office called promptly to make sure all was okay when they knew the job was completed. I was very pleased with the work and the process. It was concerned that it would be onerous and it was not. I really appreciated their customer service - it's some of the best I've received - from their office and the work crew.

After the evaluation the provider gave me a diagram which indicated the various height differences around the house and he also explained what I could do in the future to help keep the foundation in good shape. The evaluation indicated minor shifts but nothing major. It was recommended that I keep an eye on potential trouble spots and that I try to keep the soil around the foundation moist.

They were so nice and helpful. They explained everything they were doing. I highly recommend this company!

This was a big deal purchase and everything was good. No work was needed. I guess I was expecting a better, more substantive written report. I basically got a hand drawn sketch. They were punctual, they responded and scheduling was easy. All of that was fairly good.

Someone came to our place and told my wife that he was not the best person to deal with our drainage issue in the backyard. He said he will be back with another person last week. But he didn't show up and didn't contact us either so far. I sent a few follow-up on Dec 7 then Jan 7, but I did not hear anything from them. I told them that I was not satisfied with the service and would like to get my money back. Again, no response. I was very very disappointed and would like to have my money back!

Very pleased with the service, if I could give a grade higher than an A I would. We were convinced we needed a significant amount of foundation. The gentleman showed up for our appointment right on time, spent a good hour walking around checking the foundation and taking measurements. When he was finished he told us he saw no signs of stress and the issues we were seeing were just cosmetic. I was blown away by his honesty. He even took the time to point out that the water issues we were seeing by the back door were due to a gutter problem. These folks will be my first and only call if I ever need foundation work and will recommend them to anyone who feels like they might need a foundation specialist.

They did do the work quickly but never came back and did things they said they were going to do. Since they did the work, the foundation has more cracks than before.

While installing new windows, we discovered large cracks in two walls in a bedroom. These cracks extended through the wall to the outside. I contacted a name-brand foundation company,and their first available date for evaluation was two+ months. I looked on Angie's List and found a highly rated foundation company -- A-1 Guaranteed Foundation Repair. The company sent a surveyor within ten days. He made an estimate of $3400 to install 7 new piers and tweak an 8th existing pier (it was 1.5" too high). A week later, a 3rd party engineering firm validated the initial readings. Today, the work was completed in 5 hours. Mario, the foreman, explained everything they would do. In short, they did exactly what they said. He checked with me when they ran into issues. Plywood was put over ivy, protecting it from the mounds of dirt dug from the pier holes. Plants were set aside and replanted after the job was complete. Excess dirt was moved to the place of my choosing, and even leveled over pipes I had laid down for drainage, a big (unexpected) positive. The materials used were far superior to the last company I used (the company that probably caused my problem by jacking one corner of the house 1.5" too high. (The pier on this corner was dropped an inch, and the house will settle to the proper height in the next few weeks). A-1 used the same concrete pillars as the other company, but added a large footer stone and double piers and steel shim under the foundation beam. This is a much more stable configuration. I was concerned about the new windows we had already installed before finding the bad corner and sagging front. I watched the supervisor coordinate 4 different men on four different jacks raising the foundation evenly and then tweaking each pier for level. It was fascinating to watch. The new windows were unharmed and work as they did before the adjustment. Outside glass and main steel front doors were adjusted to open and close better than before. All cracks inside closed up (with the exception of the corner room -- it will take time for the corner to settle and close these cracks). All external cracks were closed up. Visible cracks were repaired with a matching grout. Plants were replanted. Soaker hoses replaced. Driveway power washed. I have never been disappointed with an A-list business I contracted through Angie's List, but this was the best experience yet. If every business provided such excellent work at such a reasonable price, the world would be a kinder, more gentle place. The foreman will check back in two weeks to see if everything remains as they left it. We are ready now to finish installing our new windows, and have a stable platform for them "forever." Guaranteed. Foundation repair is not fun. My last company did poor work, refused to provide any warranty (as promised), and created a problem that did not exist before. A-1 corrected the former mistakes, and made the whole process as pain-free as it can be. A-1 Guaranteed Foundation Repair will be my first recommendation to any of my friends.

Kevin came out and inspected the house, all is level and good. He did make recommendations on drains drew the house out to scale. Was very easy to work with, explained everything in detail.

simply put they came out with an elevation machine took some measurements said that I would get a call from this guy and that the lady in the office would email me back but I never heard from either and it has been almost two weeks since the appointment. No paperwork at all was left by the person that did the measurements.

Showed up on time, presented documentation and his opinion.

Provided measurements, options, and explained in great detail our situation.

I have never heard from them. If they are not going to honor this commitment, they should refund my money.

It went well. They recommended only the fix that was needed. Price was in line. Used an Angie's deal to get an extra $500 off the full price. When it comes to foundations and measuring the height differences, I'm naturally suspicious of all foundation repair companies. Unless you see gaps and cracks increasing or reappearing it's hard to know if you really have an issue or not. That's why I would recommend A1 again. Assessed the situation, got a second opinion and only sold what is truely needed. The great job on the site was well appreciated as well.

12/30/2015 update: Work was done today I posted a new evaluation for A-1 Guaranteed Foundation Repair earlier today, after the crew left. I'll make this update more brief. >Excellent work. >Above and beyond a "routine foundation repair" >Mario, the foreman, was excellent >Piers were superior to those used by another company ten years ago >Plywood was used to protect ivy -- no harm done. >Plants were set aside and replanted. >Soaker hoses were set aside and replaced. >Excess dirt was moved to the place of my choosing and leveled over drain pipes (an unexpected gift) >Driveway was spray washed >Foundation was lifted in such a way as to place minimal strain on newly installed windows - which were unharmed >Two front doors (one glass, one steel) were adjusted and shimmed - they latch and lock better than ever. I have given them straight A's today. Hopefully I will not need to have foundation work done again, but in Texas, one never knows. Be sure I'll be calling this company again.

They were on time and explained every aspect of the process. Even though it had recently rained the providers were very courteous about their not tracking mud in our home. Our son's large dog was in the yard and the guys were very accepting of her ever presence.

The employee came out and told me they don't deal with increased moisture. I did not get an in-depth inspection, drainage analysis, diagram, analysis of inspection, foundation and drainage condition, correction plan, etc. I am kindly requesting the $49 refund. Can you please process? I think it is only fair as I did not get what was advertised. Thank you.

We waited almost 2 week for an estimate only to have the guy come out and say, "I don't do pier and beam, they should have told you when you set the appointment." That was yesterday and I have not received a call to apologize, or try to reschedule, or anything. I'm very disappointed and will not be asking them back. UPDATE: They called to set another appointment for next week and were very apologetic. Unfortunately we've already found someone else so it's all good. Thanks for calling, I appreciate it.

Great. Prompt, courteous, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. Most importantly they were honest and very comfortable with telling me that I should bring other resources..

They did not do cleaning after installation and they did not really explain in detail about the peers as much as clear as possible. Secondly, when you are checking up the house front side they did not really clean the empty space under the house with dirt so that they can settle down whatever. So far we have not experienced any problem but again in ending or clearing the service towards the end they did not do their job properly.

I have some doors sticking at my home so I wanted to have someone come out and check the foundation. Kevin came to do the inspection and was very friendly and professional. He took measurements of the exterior and interior of my home. When he came inside he even took his shoes off so he wouldn't get my floor dirty. He was quick and once he was done he explained what was going on and how to improve my foundation. He did not try to sell me on any major work but did provide me with a plan for using a soaker hose around the foundation and told me he would come back in a few months to see if that had made an improvement. I was happy with his service and would definitely use A-1 again in the future.

Overall, it went well. Kevin came out as planned to inspect and provide a quote. The company was open to amending the contract to provide for specific instructions that I required (do not remove or damage skirt). Luis and his crew were on time the day of the initial work and were in and out in 4 hours with minimal interruption. Upon my subsequent inspection, I determined that they raised a peir too high by the crawl space entrance which caused a hump in the floor. It took them a few days to come back but they worked it into their schedule to fix the issue. The independent engineer determined that the work performed was not sufficient to meet current code, due to old bois d'ark and cinder block piers still in place. However, once receiving the inspection, the company once again came out and replaced the piers in question and paid for an addiitional final inspection. I am happy with my experience!!
