Description of Work: flushed 2 water heaters per the 'order. went smoothly and quickly. then asked about putting in a water heat pump to get hot water to the master bathroom quicker. he recommended a product that they carried and he installed it, had it in the truck (heat pump and labor to install was $600). we are happy with that result. nice to get the hot water where you want it quickly. had another question on leaky faucet and he showed me how to get started on replacing the part i would need. he recommended i do it as the cost for him to get the part and install would be a bit much for what i could handle myself. appreciated that. very professional and personable. good experience for our house.

Description of Work: Checked water heater and sewage line. Supposedly have 2 free service calls over the coming year. Also, 15 percent off any services for the coming year. The only complaint was that the camera for checking my sewer line was only 60 feet long whereas 75+ feet was needed. So, don't know the condition of the last 15 or so feet; because of that would rate them 4 out of 5 stars, instead of a full 5 stars.

Description of Work: $0 for service since he just tightened a bolt on my garbage disposal. Just the understandable fee for coming to my house of course. What was so off-putting was the way he tried to sell me a $400+ disposal right after he fixed my current one. He also spoke to me in a condescending manner, and assumed that I wasn't intelligent enough to realize that he was underhandedly trying to make a much more, extremely unnecessary, lucrative deal for himself.

Description of Work: We have used Excalibur on three different occasions. This visit was to perform a water heater flush. Direct and professional.

Description of Work: Excalibur plumbing was available on very short notice to fix a leaking toilet. The plumber was very prompt, courteous, and professional, however he did not fix the toilet properly the first time and had to come back out a second time to finish the job. No hard feelings about this - I understand that sometimes things don't go according to plan and they were very accommodating to make it right. | |The reason I would not hire them again is the price. They charge double the rate of other plumbers in the area (quoted $210 to replace leaking valves on a faucet or $250 to install a new faucet, price does not include the faucet - other providers charge $110-$125 for this same service).

Description of Work: They replaced the variable pressure value on the water supply from the city. Our showers and general water pressure were very low. | |Did a great job quick and cleaned up the area very well. Water pressure made improvement made us feel like we were in a spa great!!!!!

Description of Work: He did the work on a day when the temperature did not rise above 32 degrees. He was sauntering, and since the hose froze that keeps everything from going wrong, he caught the structural beam on fire, then asked me for an extinguisher. He did not replace it. |

Description of Work: I have a propane water heater that was approximately 18 months old which was emitting a very slight gas odor. We tentatively identified the origin as coming from the electronic gas valve which was covered under the water heater's 6 year warranty. Using the Angies' coupon, we called Excalibur Plumbing and asked them to stop by with a 'gas sniffer' to ensure that the location of the leak could be positively traced. The technician arrived promptly. He did not have a gas sniffer. He went though some minor actions and 'confirmed' that the gas control valve was the source of the leak by kneeling down and smelling for gas. We showed him the heater's warranty to verify that the control unit was covered by the manufacturer. We asked for a bid to replace the control valve which I estimated would take less than 30 minutes at no cost for parts. The technician then pulled out a book and quoted us a price of over $300 after the $50 coupon. I do not remember the exact quote and I have not looked for the quote sheet but it was probably around $395 minus the $50 coupon. When I questioned that amount and the 'bid' process as not being relevant to my specific water heater problem, the technician called the office and asked if the price could be adjusted to a more reasonable amount. The office said no, that the book determined the minimum quote. Note that the quote category being referenced was completely generic and made no mention of gas valve replacement. I declined their offer as not being relevant to my situation. The technician was friendly, polite and professional throughout the entire interaction. | |I called my regular plumber who promptly sent a technician to the house with a gas sniffer to confirm the source of the gas leak. They contacted the manufacturer who directed them to a parts supplier in San Antonio. The supplier sent a new gas valve to the plumber and it arrived the next day. That afternoon the plumber came to the house, disconnected and removed the old valve, installed and reconnected the new valve, and restarted the unit. From the time of arrival to billing was less than 30 minutes. Including the 1st visit with the sniffer, the 2nd plumber was on site for less than 1 hour. The total cost of the valve replacement was exactly $100.00. | |While Excalibur may perform quality work, their prices and quote processes are unreasonable. Even assuming I received a discount as a repeat customer, there is no comparison between Excalibur's bid and a realistic cost of the job.

Description of Work: I called them since my real estate agent referred me to them to fix a leak in my bathroom (shower faucet) and also to install a water softener. The guy who came out at first seemed very nice, but didn't seem to know how to install the water softener. As he was doing it, there was still water in the pipe and it burst open all over my garage. He was apologetic and nice, but there were still problems. I ended up with no hot water for 36 hours. I called Excalibur Plumbing 4 times, and kept being told someone would call me. Finally, they sent the same guy out. Turns out he forgot to turn some knob above the water heater to allow hot water to flow. Then, I had another problem in that the water softener was not working right. I hired another plumbing company come out after to give me an estimate to check it. They immediately looked at it, saw that 1. the lines were cross contaminating one another (the drainage was going into the same section as the inflow of water), and also that there was no emergency shutoff valve! I called Excalibur another 3 or 4 times. finally, they said a master plumber would come out to fix it. I took the second half of work off, waited for my window of time, and then got a call just when they were supposed to arrive, and they said the master plumber is busy so they are going to send the same guy out who initially installed it (NO!). I was about to contest the credit card for the charge since they really were not providing the service they guaranteed (I am also an attorney). Finally, after I told them that, Blake showed up. He agreed that the first guy who installed the water softener didn't do it right. He fixed it. Since then, I called twice and was told someone would call me back (to fix the fact that the water softener is not moving the salt--and hasn't since they installed it in August). I still have yet to get a call back. Last time I spoke with the dispatch guy, I said, "Are you SURE someone will call me back? I called twice already and haven't heard." He said, "Yes, I am the one who gets the calls and will make sure someone calls you back." Please save yourself the time and energy with this company. The two men who came to give me the estimate to fix Excalibur's screwup to begin with actually used to work for Excalibur. They didn't charge me for their estimate, and told me to just call Exc. back and tell them to fix their error. I would go with this other company instead. Rather than make this a marketing review, I will leave the name of the other company out, but PLEASE DO NOT USE EXCALIBUR. I will also forward this to my real estate agent with Keller Williams (Heyl Group).

Description of Work: Chris was able to locate and repair a major leak in our upstairs toilet that had been overlooked by several other plumbing companies. The repairs were about one third the price quoted by those companies. The repairs included a floor flange and waxed ring seal. He has since returned to replace several valves.
