On Metal Roof: Jason offered several options to resolve a leaking skylight (i.e. fix or replace) and several options to replace the skylight with metal roofing. (Skylight replaced by another vendor years ago but continued to leak & we decided to just remove the skylight). Jason ensured roofing work was completed absent inclement weather. He and his helper were polite, professional and cleaned up the working site. Jason & his helper were observant: they pointed out metal roofing components to monitor, and noticed a non-roof item which (as it turned out) needed immediate repair. We both liked having Jason provide the bid and also being involved in doing the actual work, (versus where one person provides the work bid, and others you've never met do the actual work). Definitely recommend Jason and this family-owned company, and would use again.
Description of Work: Install new metal roofing panels over area where skylight removed.

Jason is the most trustworthy, skilled, and knowledgeable individual I have ever met. After hiring a few different roofers, none of whom actually fixed the leaks, I finally found All Star Roofing. It is a family owned and operated business. Each time I have called them, they were out the same week if not the same day. They provide fair prices and quality work. The most recent leak, I called All Star Roofing, received a call back within the hour, and they quoted completed the repair the same day. Just wow. When the time comes to replace my roof, I know who I will be calling!
Description of Work: They have completed 3 roof leak repairs for me.

There is nothing worse than having a leak inside your house caused by leaks in a tile roof, since you can't tell where the problem is without tearing everything apart! After waking up to a slow leak in our office area, a fix was needed ASAP. We had been referred to All Star by our contractor/builder we've been using for our bathroom renovations and couldn't have been more pleased. All Star responded very quickly and Jason, the owner's son, was able to come out quickly and ascertain the problem. He was able to schedule the work the very next week and did the repairs himself, which was a pleasant surprise compared to other roofers we've used before. The repairs got an immediate test this week, and so far so good. We'll continue to monitor the affected areas going forward, but for now, we're extremely pleased to have the problems apparently solved. As an aside, we're always happy to support a locally-owned, family business. Would happily recommend All Star to anyone looking for an honest, competent roofer.
Description of Work: Repaired two sections of our tile roof that had resulted in water leaking into the house/garage.

Contacted all-star roofing twice to try and get an estimate for roof repair. They sent someone out after the second call the following day to provide estimate. The representative called to let me know he was running behind, but showed up shortly thereafter. He did a through review of the roof and explained the issues he saw. He mentioned that he does not provide the estimate, but that he would send his write up to the office and they would get back to me via email no later than the following day. I mentioned I would like to start repairs soon due to the upcoming predicted storms later that week. I gave him my email in case they did not have it. After two days, I had not heard from them. I sent an email with my service number letting them know I had not yet received an estimate. After a couple more days, I hired another company. I still have not heard from All-Star.

[member name removed], I apologize for the huge delay in responding to your review. Learning about Angie's List is something that we just acquired yesterday thanks to Mario Barron, an employee of Angie's List who told us we had reviews and how to sign in to respond to them. As you can see, we did not know these reviews were even there. We didn't even see the award we were nominated for from an Angie's List customer or we definitely would have responded to all the reviews. We are a small, family owned and operated company and we're still learning to handle huge quantities of service call requests and bids during peak storm related events. That time period in which you contacted us was a big learning curve due to the storms at that time. I did go back and check our emails and log sheets. I found you did get a bid along with related repairs needed pictures from us but not in a quick manner. It was emailed on March 11, 2013. You responded back the same day that you had already gotten it taken care of. Thank you for letting me know of a deficiency in our customer service area. All constructive criticism is appreciated and will help in critiquing our services. We do care about our customers and want them to have the best experience possible. Sincerely, Terry Paris Owner

A friend recommended this company and called them, on my behalf, with my contact information. Lynn, from All Star Roofing, called me the same day to arrange a time the following day for a visit to make a determination of what work needed to be done. She said there'd be no charge for this visit and estimate. Terry, the owner of the company, arrived at the agreed upon time. Terry is clearly very knowledgeable about his business. He climbed up on a ladder, closely inspected the area in question, determined that it was not a roofing problem but was a cosmetic issue. He provided a through explanation of why it was only a cosmetic issue and not a roofing issue. He recommended a carpenter to attend to the area. The work will be addressed in the next couple of weeks. Overall an excellent experience with All Star Roofing.
Description of Work: Inspection and diagnosis of an area under the roof of my house, which I (incorrectly) thought was part of the roof.

Thank you [member name removed] for the good review and kind words. We really appreciate your time you took to post this review. My timing is way off but now that I know that we are getting reviews on Angie's List and I will check more often and have a better response time. I had a recent phone call from Mario Barron with Angie's List who told me about the reviews and was most helpful in showing me how to log on. Sincerely, Terry Paris Owner

This is the one to hire. Will definitely call them when we need another repair or even a new roof. Before I called All Star here in Liberty Hill, I previously had 3 other roofers to come out to fix leak onto living room ceiling. All of them said it was coming from the chimney. One said the wood around the top of the chimney was rotting and needed to be replaced, saying that was what was causing the leak, so they replaced the boards on the top edge. Another roofer said all was needed was to be caulked, so he caulked it but never painted it and in time the caulking shrunk. The 3rd one same story. Money wasted, wish I had known about All Star the first go around. Jason came out to give us an estimate and what we had previously been told from the roofers was not even the problem. Jason found the leak in the back right away. My husband and I thought this was the worst of the leaks, boy was we wrong. Yes it was leaking onto the living room ceiling and when it rained hard, I had to put a bucket under the leak. There was a nasty stain on the ceiling and every time it rained it spread more. Jason told us the reason for the leak was coming from a place next to the dormer that needed repair, he said that was an easy fix and it was. Then he told us the boards around the exterior of the chimney had been installed wrong when the house was constructed. That the boards that run vertical on the corners should be on the outer side of the boards that run horizontal up to the top of the chimney. He discussed it with us and giving us an option of reworking the boards on the chimney or to caulk and paint it and see how that does before going to the added expense of reworking the boards completely. We went with the caulk and paint for now and have had no problems there. He examined the living room ceiling and said the sheetrock was still in good shape, so he sealed the stain and repainted ceiling. It has been over 2 years and you can't tell even a stain or problem was there. Two of the previous roofers had said the sheetrock would have to be replace, Jason save us from that added cost. The leak on the side from the roof onto the covered porch was a small leak, or so we thought. When Jason got up there he saw that part of the roof that had initially had the leak had not been constructed when the house was built as it should have been. The boards were rotting, where there should have been support beam underneath, there wasn't one and all this the water from the rain had caused major damage. Something we couldn't see or tell but someone with extensive roofing knowledge would know. That ended up costing more than what we initially thought, but it was money well spent. We had called our insurance company with questions about our roof from high winds, little did I know that when I did that a claim was filed. I didn't want to file a claim I just wanted to ask some questions. The insurance company sent out a contracted adjustor to appraise damage. The appraiser saw a board on the 2nd story that had been left longer on one side with ragged unpainted edge. He told us that would later cause a problem, plus he stated some other things, then he told me he had a home repair business, hint, hint. I thought he was just being too picky about things wanting our business. When I told Jason what the contracted adjustor said about the board, he didn't see that it would cause a problem. Yes, it didn't look perfect, but you wouldn't even notice unless you knew what to look for. The board was at an angle and not easy to get to; Jason went ahead and cut the board to match the other side. I had our cupola with weather vane taken down a year before, it needed to be sanded and restained, plus the rooster weather vane had lost his tail feather due to high winds. I had the cupola ready and waiting for someone to install it, Jason did it, making sure it was level on a round pointed high pitched roof over our gazebo porch. He also replaced missing shingles that had blown off from high winds. He went over the whole roof and told us our roof was still in good shape but suggested we get gutters for the 2nd floor from where the rain had run off of the dormers. Jason was honest, very well mannered, worked diligently, found every problem and better yet, got them fixed as to our expectations. We didn't go with the added gutters, but he is right about that. We are hoping to replace our asphalt shingles with a metal roof when the time comes to have it replaced. Again, let me say ~ This is the one to hire!

[member name removed], WOW! Thank you for the very, very, very, nice review! I am so very, very, very, sorry that I am just now seeing it for the first time. We didn't know how to log on to Angie's List until yesterday when Mario Barron with Angie's List told us how to over the phone. I found out also that you nominated us for an award but we didn't receive it due to the fact that we didn't accept it. I accept the award but I know it's too late. We really appreciate the time and effort you took to nominate us and review our company. We are family owned and operated. Jason is our son. Thank you for the very kind words. Sincerely, Terry Paris Owner

The roofers at All Star were prompt and early. Their work wasn't the best, I found some leaks. The people that came had communication barriers, but we worked through it. They did seem competent and went straight to work.
