Paid $75 Deductible through American Homeshield to sub contract Me.Rooter Plumbing Scam: Martin, with Mr. Rooter arrived & used a camera underneath the home to try & diagnose the leak issue in the laundry room. He didn't do anything else to figure out the cause of the leak. His repair quote was for $8,500 & when he was told that seemed high for the repair, he said the best he could do it for was $6,500. He immediately referred a water damage company to access the damage at no charge. That company said water damage was $2,200. We called another reputable plumber to get a second opinion & they immediately identified a cracked pipe in the P Trap and repaired all for $201. They also stated there was no major water damage. MR. Rooter conducted unethical business practices & provided fraudulent information

American Home Shield sent them, I had what turned out to be a difficult drain blockage near my washing machine. But, they came in, did not try to snake anything, just looked at the drain, and said they need to install a clear out inside the house for $950, not covered under my warranty, and then they can begin trying to clear the drain for$500, but I have old pipes and they may need to be replaced. I declined, called another plumber, who worked hard for a total of 4 hours over 2 days, but eventually found and cleared my blockage with different sized snakes for $600. Google Mr. Rooter for rip-off stories all over the country. They immediately want to tear up your pipes and find all kinds of new charges to add. I wasn’t gonna let myself get scammed.

1st Plumber could not remove the blockage and said that it would have to be addressed through the vent in the roof. I did not feel this was necessary and let him know that I was going to get a second opinion. He left a mess in my shower as well. A short time later, I got a call from the company's owner. He and another plumber came out with a camera and in ten minutes had the blockage removed. If I was not as knowledgeable about plumbing due to several issues in homes I have owned, I would have been charged a lot more money to have a simple blockage removed. It was also a waste of my time to have to get a second plumber out to my home. I would NOT recommend this company.

Description of Work: They said my p trap drain was incorrectly installed, which it was not, and said they would need to go to supply house to get parts & needed $75.00 charge which I paid, but they never returned to fix & I call the company explaining the issue and owner told me he would come next to see what he could do about it?? I was lied to as to going to get parts to fix the problem and would not allow that type of company back into my home.

I had two leaks: One under whirlpool tub & another under kitchen sink. AHS policy is to that I need to pay $75 for the service call. I scheduled a service request and AHS assigned the job to Mr. Rooter. Whirlpool tub: Mr Rooter's representative looked at my whirlpool tub leak.... went to call the insurance and came back and said I need to pull the tub out to fix the leak as there is no room to even get a wrench for him inside, let alone fix the leak. It will cost ~$1850 and that insurance (AHS) has denied the claim. I worked with AHS to get a second opinion and this time they send someone who knew what he was doing. He diagnosed it as a loose fitting and got his special wrench out and tightened the connection and BAAM... no more leak!! He fixed the problem in less than 5 minutes. Kitchen Sink Leak: Mr Rooter's representative looked at the leak under the kitchen sink and gave me feedback on what needs to be changed. He however did not mention this to AHS because he obviously needs another $75 for that. Overall, very disappointing that I Mr Rooter got paid $75 by me via AHS. They don't deserve a penny.

We thought we were getting a good deal. They seemed responsive and fair, but the work they did was terrible. First, they did not send enough help for the worker to get the old water heater downstairs from the attic. They spilled water up in the attic, and of course it eventually stained the ceiling. I can live with things like that, pretty minor in comparison to what we just found out. We had a home inspection done to sell the house. The inspector noted that the vent was not correctly attached to the water heater. So, I called another plumber to come and repair the issue. When we got upstairs to look at the water heater, we found that not only had they not properly attached the vent, they jammed the vent up into the roof so that the flashing was raised and water had come in on top of the water heater. Further, the stack was placed so close to the attic rafters that the wood was discolored by the heat. So, we ended up with a water heater pouring carbon monoxide into the attic and heating up the rafters in the attic. So, what about the inspection, you wonder? Well, they neglected to have it inspected, as well. It never would have passed. It is one thing to be sloppy on the job. It's entirely another to leave a family in danger. I recommend that you choose another plumber.

We called the 1-877 phone number for this company and they told us there was service in our area and set up an appt for 5 pm that day. They even took my email address and sent me a confirmation of the appt. This was a Sunday so my regular plumber was not available. At 5:10 when no plumber had called, I called the local number listed in the email and no one answered. I called the 1-877 number again and they connected me with the local plumber. He told me that he had just gotten the service call while on the phone with me, had not had any indication of it before then and there was no way he could come out as he had 7 people ahead of me. So the bottom line is that this may be a great plumber but I have no way of knowing because the main company fell down on the job of passing on information. So I spent the night with a leak and no hot water and in the end I went ahead and contacted my regular plumber to come out on Monday after all to do the job.

My husband and I had just posted how we were enjoying the vista at Discovery Point, Crater Lake, OR. It is perhaps the only place up there where you can get "good" reception. The phone rang immediately. My son told me that "my house was ruined." Great. A pipe burst between the floors and was flooding my home. My son (an adult) was doing everything he could, including putting buckets in place and dumping them constantly. We called our insurance company who sent out a company to dry things out. I asked the company for suggestions regarding a plumber and got this guy. Big mistake. He decided to take it on himself to call another company and have them come dry things out without discussing it with me. (I had my cell with me and we stayed as close to reception as we could to monitor the situation. There is no reception leading into or out of the park. There is only very spotty reception everywhere else up on Mt. Mazama. When I told him we had someone taking care of that, he informed me that the company we were using had a contract with our insurance company and they wouldn't do the job right. Right..... Then this guy gives me an estimate that still makes me cringe. Every contractor and construction company I have talked with (there have been quite a few) have screeched in horror at this guy's quote, his "work", and his intolerable treatment of my house, my son, and my pets (my fur babies). When the plumber I use was finally able to come out and look at things, he was appalled at the "work" and the price. I will never use this company again. I suggest you don't either. There are plenty of other competent and reliable plumbers in the area. This is not the plumber you are looking for. But that is my opinion. Maybe they had an off day. But when I told him I wanted to get a couple of other quotes, he got really snotty with my son and left the attic open, letting my furbies get in there. When I called him and told him I did not appreciate what he did, he said he didn't know we had any pets. Really? Did he not see the fur? Did he not see the pets? They come out for everyone. Or did he just not care? Did he think that because we were out of state that we would not use our resources to find someone who would not take advantage of us? Because that is what I feel like happened. He only saw green. He didn't care.
Description of Work: Per their receipt: "Cut sheet roc to expose and repair leak on 1/2 inch galvanized hot water line in ceiling" What they did? They tore a giant hole in my ceiling, leaving blown insulation all over the house. They put a sleeve clamp on the area that had burst. They left an attic access open and pets got in. They were rough with my property and gruff overall to my son. They didn't even make sure the pipes below the one that blew were dry and not leaking.

They were professional, and they got the job done. The gentleman that I dealt with was very nice. I had a home warranty to pay for part of the repairs. The problem wasn't fixed correctly the first time, but he was very courteous. When I reported that the problem wasn't fixed, they came right out immediately to rectify it.
Description of Work: They repaired a couple of my toilets and a sewer back-up.
