Juan arrived on time. Began working immediately. Did a superb job . Very professional.

This is Juan's second job with me and I'm again pleased with the work he did. The first job he did was on one of my rental properties and this second job was on my house. His prices are super reasonable, his work is excellent, and he's always eager to answer any questions I may have. Juan did a wonderful job. All the F ratings, if you notice, are from people where he did not do the work. He is an exceptional painter. If we ever need more painting, Juan will do all the work. There is no if, and, or but. I will also recommend him to anyone that I know. Also, his prices are very competitive. For the quality of the work that he does, Juan's work is worth a lot more than he charges. Again, exceptional work!

We were so pleased with Five Star Rated Painting from beginning to end. He was very responsive, came out to give us an estimate free of charge, scheduled our job in just a few days, and was affordable. Best of all, he did an excellent job. We live in Tomball and he is in Pasadena. Nevertheless, he and one other painter came out two days in a row to make sure the job was complete and to our great satisfaction. We will definitely be hiring him again for future jobs!

We moved out and needed to repaint the interior of our house to put it on the market. It is about 30 years old, never been painted, and the color scheme was not the most flattering for the house. Using a color consultant for the paint colors, I chose Five Star Rated Painting to select the brand of paint and do the job. Juan Rodriguez, owner, has over 25 years of experience as a painter. He was very easy to work with and did an excellent job. He prices his job by the each item painted such as each door, door frame, window, wall, baseboard, ceiling, etc. so his jobs are priced out exactly as far as the labor. He used his preferred paint, Behr, but will use whatever the customer specifies and just charges for the paint accordingly. Juan is very meticulous about his work. His caulk lines along the floor or baseboards and up tile steps are straight and smooth. He takes direction easily and will make suggestions as to what he thinks also should be painted versus what he does for other people. I wanted my house to look its best to sell quickly but without repainting every square inch and not the ceilings. Juan was fine with that. Only the kitchen ceiling was painted because I had had it patched in 2 places with nonmatching colors so to look uniform it was best to just paint the whole ceiling one color. I went with a darker wall color and Juan said that he could do it in one coat, which saved me money. I also had him paint my master bath vanities. I didn't want to pay the price for a spray job so he said that he could foam roller coat them. I had another painter do my laundry room cabinets that way and they looked good but there was an orange peel texture to them. It was obvious that they were not sprayed but it is just the laundry room. I showed Juan and he said that that was because the other painter didn't add a little oil to the paint to get a smoother finish. So for half the price of a spray job, Juan did a foam roller job on the bathroom vanities and I thought they looked like they had been sprayed. There was no orange peel. They were smooth. My neighbor gave him the key to my house to come and go. My neighbor dropped in on the job from time to time, my realtor dropped in, and I dropped in to see the progress and discuss any issues. Everyone liked the job. Juan did an excellent job in less than a week for a reasonable price. He is very easy to work with and is very knowledge on painting.

He was punctual and kept me updated via text message of when he would arrive. He did a fabulous job on the hall, and now we want to hire him to paint the bedrooms!

excellent. Whenever he was going to be a little late for an apptmt, he called. He worked with 1 other man yet the work was done timely and very well. I can't tell where the repairs were and there were several big holes in the hole. The paint jobs were done perfectly and even when the storage room ceiling (where most of the leaking occurred) required much more work and replacement than he expected, he did at no extra charge to me. It took 2 days of work and with the price total in mind, it was worth more. He also was willing to work with me on budget if needed since I orig was going to have just the inside work done. But for his work efficiency and time, he convinced me to do the storage room as well and he was willing to accept payment at a much later date if it was needed for my cost limitations. I appreciated his customer focus and excellent workmanship.

Juan Rodriguez, owner of Five Star Rated painting, and a helper arrived for but then abandoned a bathroom remodeling job without notice after that project had been scheduled 4 weeks ahead of time and for which the scope of work and price had been agreed. Due to his lack of professionalism demonstrated by walking away from a job without saying anything, we can definitely NOT recommend him for hire. We've had a variety of experiences with contractors over the 26 years we've owned 2 homes, but we've never been treated like this! On 3/3/15, Mr. Rodriguez visited our home and gave my spouse and I an estimate for wallpaper removal, wall prep, minor repair of sheetrock (which would need to be done after a wall light fixture was moved), and wall texturing, as well as the painting of walls, trim, cabinets and doors. On 3/4/15, I called him and told him he was hired and scheduled the work to begin on 3/30/15, a mutually convenient date. On 3/24/15, Mr. Rodriguez called to ask if this job could be moved up due to other projects that had been postponed and weather. We told him the earliest he could start our job would be 3/27/15 because the first stage (tiling) of the bathroom reno was still in progress. He said that wouldn't work for him but that he would start our job on 3/30/15 as agreed. I then called him on 3/27/15 and he stated he would arrive at 7:30 a.m. on 3/30/15. On that date, Mr. Rodriguez arrived with a helper who placed equipment and materials on our back porch while I reviewed the work to be done with Mr. Rodriguez. Although we had discussed on 3/3/15 the minor sheetrock repair that would need to be done (he had told us he could not move the outlet box for one of two wall light fixtures and that we would need to hire an electrician, which we subsequently did), he said the sheetrock repair was not included in his quote and apologized. However, we quickly and amicably agreed to a new price that included that work. Mr. Rodriguez stated he was going to leave his helper behind to start the work while he drove to Sherwin-Williams and Home Depot for some additional materials. I told him that he and his helper were welcome to use our other bathroom if necessary, that we'd be glad to give them water or Gatorade, and to let us know if they had any questions or issues. But after going to my home office, I realized after about 15 minutes that his helper had not come back into the house. When I went to investigate, I discovered that the equipment and materials that had been placed on our back porch were gone, and so was Mr. Rodriguez and his helper! I called Mr. Rodriguez 3 times and left both a voice mail and text message. Two hours and 40 minutes after leaving our home without saying anything, he texted me saying that he had "changed (his) mind, was "not interested in doing the work," and he has "too many jobs to do!" To our detriment, we discounted the "F" review given to this company by another homeowner close by in light of the large number of "A's" it has received. Five Star Rated Painting is NOT an accredited Better Business Bureau business (according to the BBB), contrary to the listing on Angie's List. Sneaking away from a job like he did is inexcusable. It is only speculation but perhaps he does that when he has other, more lucrative jobs lined up.

All went very well! I am extremely pleased with the paint job. I was surprised that Juan went so far as to caulk the base board for a nice clean look.

We had a set appointment and date for the work to be done and he cancelled on me less then 1 hour before he was supposed to be here via text message and he ignored all of my calls after cancelling. We had planned our entire weekend for this project after talking and meeting multiple times. It was very unprofessional and I would not recommend him at all. He did not want to work because he was afraid that he would have problems with our color match from Sherwin Williams to Behr where he got a discount. We tried multiple times to match it and finally decided on the color and the company cancelled on us with no notice the day of and failed to answer any phone calls to address the issue. We actually decided on a Behr paint color and he decided not to do the work. Give Juan Reyes a call at 281-912-9966 and he can take care of you. We saved $400.00 dollars less than what this company quoted and Mr. Reyes did fantastic work and was able to be at my house 1 hour after we had the cancellation text to not do the job. Everyone has different experiences both good and bad with different people, therefore based on my experience with this company I would never use him or refer him to anybody.

Juan was responsive, prompt and professional in all aspects of my transaction. I was 100% satisfied with the work he and his crew performed and with the negotiated price. We had some pretty labor intensive painting needs (all crown molding and baseboards caulked, sanded and painted). Juan and his crew were able to do this without any problems. I would recommend and use the services of Five Star Rated Painting again without hesitation.

I was very happy with my service from Juan at Five Star Rated Painting. He responded to my request for a quote right away, gave me a very fair price for what I needed done and was able to schedule me in very quickly. He arrived a few minutes early for my appointment and started right away. The quality of work was excellent and he went above and beyond what I had asked him to do. He was polite, respectful and professional. I don't really understand how there would be negative reviews on this site, as that was not my experience at all. I would highly recommend Five Star to anyone looking for high quality work from a very professional company.

I texted Juan to let me know when he had some free time in his busy schedule to come and paint. Because Juan often works alone, he indicated he was busy for the next week or so, but would contact me when he had a free day to do our painting. Juan offered me the choice of two days and I opted for the weekend so I could be around to help move furniture, etc. Juan was on time and everything went quite smoothly just as before. We'll definitely have Juan back when we do some exterior painting this summer. We are also thinking to have Juan refinish our front door along with some other work around the home. We are always happy to have a professional painter we can trust to do the work correctly and with minimal supervision.

A couple weeks ago, we had set up an appointment for last Wednesday. He called me last Monday and said that he had to reschedule. I was ok with that and we rescheduled for today. I called him yesterday evening to confirm the appointment. I texted him my address and he responded back and everything was set for today morning. He had said he would arrive around 8/8:30 am. I checked my phone at around 8:10 today and saw that he had texted me at 7:40 saying that he was on his way and would be here by around 8:30/9. He texted me again at 7:45 asking me to respond to his text. He called me at 7:50 saying that he needed to hear from me. He texted me again at 8:05 cancelling the appointment because 'I was refusing to answer his calls and texts'. This was the most ridiculous behavior I have ever seen from anybody. I had confirmed the appointment with him the previous evening and had taken the day off from work, waiting at home for him. I don't keep my cell phone in my room because my baby would wake up and I don't keep checking it every 15 minutes, especially if I am not expecting somebody to call. If he had told me that he would call in the morning again to confirm, then I would have watched for his calls/texts. In any case, I called him back at 8:10 (about half hour after his initial text) and he never answered the phone. Please don't hire him. He sounds very well mannered and professional when you talk to him, but he rescheduled me twice and then cancelled on me at the last moment.

Juan was scheduled to arrive at 8am 1/24/15 which we confirmed on the evening before via phone call and text. That morning at 7am he sent a text message stating that his truck had broken down and that he would be unable to paint and that he was being forced to work the following day which was a Sunday if that was ok with me. I said it was and that the same time was fine and that I would be there at 8am. Sunday morning I waited, I called, and I texted. No response. Monday, again I called and texted. No response. I had 3/4 of my furniture and belongings stored in the garage upon moving in to wait until house was painted. His professionalism is complete ridiculous and I hope you don't waste your time using his services. I would have gladly hired someone else, now I must wait for additonal quotes and more time spent unable to put my house in order.

Juan was professional, fast and takes pride in his work. He finished the job by himself in less than 3 days.

I could not be more pleased with the outcome of the interior painting of my home, as performed by Mr. Juan Rodriguez (owner of Five Star Rated Painting) and his crew. I certainly will be recommending Mr. Rodriguez to anyone I know who may be seeking an excellent, trustworthy, and value-priced painter. Encouraged by the preponderance of highly favorable reviews on Angie's List, I contacted Five Star Rated Painting through this site in early November 2014 inquiring as to availability and seeking a price quote for the interior painting of my furnished home. Mr. Rodriguez responded promptly via a phone call the following day. He conveyed to me his interested in performing the painting work, yet noted that he had a few projects already lined up and would not be available to start the job until mid-December. I informed him that the timing would be acceptable so long as we could come to agreeable terms on the price. In reply, Mr. Rodriguez explained that he regrettably could not visit my home to give me a price quote for several days, but he seemed confident that I would find his price to my liking once he had the chance to come by and assess the scope of the work. As such, we agreed that he would follow up with me within the upcoming two weeks as soon as his schedule freed up to inspect my home for a price quote. He further informed me that he would go ahead and tentatively set aside a block of several days in mid December 2014 for my job, which I found acceptable. As promised, Mr. Rodrigez contacted me several days later to arrange for the home inspection and arrive at a price quote (exclusive of cost of paint, which was to be supplied by me.) He arrived at my place at the appointed time, and we went through each of the rooms of my home together to go over the work to be done and discuss questions, concerns, options, recommendations, etc. Well groomed, polite, and clearly earnest about doing a professional and pleasing job, Mr. Rodriguez took considerable notes as he toured the home and left me with a very good feeling about wanting to go through with hiring him, even without yet knowing his price. At the end of the tour, Mr. Rodriguez indicated that he needed to spend some time on the price calculations and that he would submit his quote to me via e-mail within the next day, which he did. The approximate $8,700 quote he provided was prefaced with a near apology and explanation for it being "so high" and was accompanied by a detailed spreadsheet providing complete insights into how the price was derived, which I appreciated. Truth be told, I found the quote quite reasonable after having already been provided with a $12,000 quote, without breakdown/explanation, for the same job from another painter -- and that was for only one coat of paint! Mr. Rodriquez was offering two coats. Given the seemingly good price and my overall favorable disposition towards the guy, I immediately agreed to the terms offered by Mr. Rodriguez. The start of the work commenced a week later than originally scheduled on account of an injury to Mr. Rodriguez that left him unable to work for several days. Though disappointed by the delay, I could hardly fault Mr. Rodriguez for his accident, for which he was nonetheless very apologetic and unnecessarily h****** himself. Once the work finally got started to my relief, I felt it was performed expertly and flawlessly. Mr. Rodriguez and his hires worked long hours throughout the several-day project, which was completed in two phases to allow for a short break and use of my home during Christmas. The crew was very careful to protect the floors, countertops, and furnishings of my home throughout the process. Mr. Rodriguez, being a perfectionist who takes justifiable pride in meeting/exceeding expectations, holds himself and his crew to a very high standard. The end price was the price I was originally quoted, even though Mr. Rodriguez went over and above the agreed upon scope of the project without asking for a cent. There was no nickel and diming. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the outcome of the painting work and would not hesitate in hiring this service provider again. Highly recommended.

He was very upset with the Angie's list contract re the 2nd coat of paint. He said he needed to change it. I am used to a "turn key" project. Juan tried to "nickel and dime" me to death. His guy painted the wrong rooms. He did not charge me for that mistake. I had to buy more paint for that. His guy loosened the bolts on the toilet to paint behind it but forgot to retighten them when he finished. When I questioned Juan about it he got very upset with me.

I first contacted the provider via phone and left a voicemail. I didn't receive a response back so after a week, I contacted him via AL email message. I did get a response to that. He made me aware that he was pretty busy and that he only gives quotes on the weekends, which was fine and understandable. He asked me to send him my address and contact info so that he could call me. I emailed my phone number about a week later (didn't realize he had messaged me back). I got a phone call within an hour of me sending over my contact number. I was impressed at the responsiveness, he asked if I would be available on Saturday and Sunday and I gave him my availability for both days. He said he would call me the following weekend to come out and give me a quote for the painting. It's been 3 weeks, I still haven't heard back. We ended up going with another provider.

There's a deal that I wanted to take but because in the fine print it specifically says baseboards and ceilings not included, I contacted Juan directly to see if I can work with him in getting an additional quote for those two things. We were going to meet up but something came up that I ended up with another painter. Needless to say, even though I did not go through Juan to pain my house, I still think he is a trustworthy person just because he was courteous and prompt in replying to text messages.

Juan was on time, extremely polite and professional, and went out of his way to accommodate my requests. He brought all necessary supplies (other than the paint), was extremely careful while working and completely cleaned up as he went from room to room. At the end of the day, the only evidence I had that he had been there were the beautifully painted rooms. As others have said, Juan is a perfectionist and takes the time to prepare his work area so that he is efficient. He even took the time to address the sloppy painting by a previous painter by correcting overflow onto the ceiling. This man can paint a straight line!! We will be asking him to return in the near future to paint the rest of the interior. The price was more than fair, he truly is skilled and knowledgeable about his work, and he did not leave the job until my husband and I had both walked through and were satisfied with the work.

Juan is a perfectionist. That is a wonderful trait for a painter. He prepared each room with care, cleaned up his mess, and did a great job painting each room.

I have had several appointments with this company and each time they come up with something that causes them to not be able to make their appointments. He was supposed to come today and I received a text stating that he did not want to do my job anymore because it was too cold. He told me to just get another company.

Juan was very professional and good at communicating what needed to be done to the room and the cost. Seeing as I have never painted before I trusted his judgment to make the right choice on gloss of the room and the pick the right shade of paint. He did an amazing job, he came to our house twice once to paint the whole room and then a week later when my wife and schedule permitted to paint a stripe in the room as well as do any final touch ups. He was very easy to work with and was able to schedule around both my wifes and mine work schedules. If we have any future painting projects I know who to call.
