Kevin was our third (and final) contractor - our experience with the previous two was a nightmare. Kevin and his crew were here when they said they would be, worked with us to design the patio cover, and kept their promises. In a word, they were great!!! Cy and Brian did the actual building. They were polite and worked hard despite the heat. The electricians installed a ceiling fan and did a nice job of covering the electric box where some of the brick had chipped away. The painters made quick work of painting the cover to match our house and while they were here, painted the brick wall on the patio. We lost our bland, corrugated metal roof in December during the ice storm. After waiting 8 months for the roof to be replaced, we were pleased to have Kevin and his crews finish it in less than 10 days!! From the initial meeting, through obtaining the necessary permits and inspections, to the final "unveiling" of our strong and beautiful structure, we knew we were in good hands. Thanks to everyone involved!!
Description of Work: Built a new patio cover to replace one we lost in December.

The bathroom remodel was not planned to happen for a couple of years, but because of some extensive plumbing repairs that had to be done immediately we decided to proceed since we knew we would be relocating the sink, shower, and toilet. It was very important to us that whichever contractor we chose would be willing to work with the plumber to coordinate those repairs with the remodel. I contacted 3 contractors who specialize in bath remodel, all from Angie's List. One company I did not actually meet with because they explained I would have to use materials supplied by their vendors and I didn't want to be limited in my selection of materials. I met with the 2nd contractor and shared with her what I wanted, my many pictures, my rough drawing, and my thoughts. She told me she would be my contact throughout the job and then also shared with me she was a full-time student. That concerned me because I knew we would need to be in close contact throughout the project and I wasn't sure what her availability would be. Shortly after we met she provided me a one-page proposal listing what would be done and a price- $18,020 - no drawings and not a lot of detail. Last, I met with Kevin from Clear Creek Home Improvements. I walked him through what I wanted and shared my pictures, my rough drawing, and my thoughts. He had some good suggestions for the project as well. He spent quite a bit of time with me and I felt like he had a good understanding of what I wanted (and our dog approved of him). He was also willing to coordinate with our plumber during the project. After our meeting he provided me with a 15-page Scope of Work which included, in detail, what would be done. The Scope of Work also included drawings of the existing areas to be worked on and renderings of the remodel. After reviewing the Scope of Work and making a few changes/adjustments, Kevin returned a bid of $19,908. Once we got started, Kevin was on the job every day, sometimes all day and sometimes he would come by in the morning to check in with me. He did a great job of keeping in touch with me and I always knew by the end of the day what would be done the next day and who would be doing it. There were, of course, unexpected challenges along the way. Changes/additions that I wanted along the way of course added to the overall cost which is why the final cost is more than the original estimate. All the workers that Kevin brought in were courteous and respectful of our space and our dog (which was important to us). I was pleased to find that Kevin was as particular about the quality of the work as I was. Anything I wasn't happy with he worked on until I was happy with it. I am overjoyed with everything that was done. I especially love my new big shower! It is beautiful! Kevin Gwyn is passionate about people and he is passionate about his work. We will definitely be calling him in the future when we do more remodeling.

[Member name removed] was a very nice lady. We had worked this whole estimate through email. She lives in Oklahoma. I was actually meeting her for the first time on May 30 to sign the contract. The email I am posting below here is the final email that I sent her that explains very well in detail why I could not do the job and why I thought it would be in her best interest to hire the other contractor. (The other contractor was replacing all of the siding around the house.) I felt I was doing her a favor. If you can use one contractor for all of the projects it is so much better. More than one can sometimes cause strife Needless to say I was very shocked at the review she gave me. She did not strike me as someone that would do that. Oh well. Judge for yourself Angie's list members and have an Awesome day! Good luck with your project [Member name removed]! Kevin Gwyn Owner From: Kevin Gwyn [mailto:clearcreek03@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, May 30, 2014 12:28 PM To: '##### #####"' Subject: RE: Estimate Hey [Member name removed], It was a pleasure to meet you today. Since you and your husband already agreed on the price I think it would be more beneficial for you to use the same contractor for the whole job. He may very well have a different approach about that window since he is the one doing the siding. I did pick up a major master bath remodel and it will be starting on the 9th as well. So I would hate for something to happen to where it would mess up the schedule for you and I know that is very important for you. So I think it would be in the best interest of both of us that I withdraw my estimate. I want to thank you for the opportunity to bid your project. I wish you all the best.

Kevin and his crew began by removing one wall and door into the old enclosed kitchen. They then installed new header where old wall separated the kitchen from the family room and built a half wall with bar counter. After removing all old cabinets and flooring, they then took all necessary measurements for new flooring and cabinets. This phase took about one week. Once cabinets were constructed, they began the remodeling and painting work. This phase took approximately three weeks, but was interrupted by a severe ice storm. This caused a delay of about five days. An example of his responsiveness and concern was well beyond the call of duty. When the ice storm arrived, I could not get out of my driveway. He had a 4-wheel drive truck and came to the house, drove me to the grocery store and pharmacy, and then brought me back home. This was greatly appreciated. When the work was completed, he followed up to make sure we were happy with the work and that everything was completed as expected.
Description of Work: Remodeled kitchen, including opening up one wall, new cabinets, granite countertops, removed popcorn ceiling, removed old flooring and replaced with new tile, painted kitchen and living room.

Kevin was very patient with me through the estimate and answered numerous questions before the job was ever agreed to. All of the work took approximately 1 week and Kevin's crew were both extremely professional and did a great job. -1 door was removed and arch was installed in its place along with drywall and knockdown texture to match existing walls. -1 door was installed at opposite end of hallway along with new light switches. Drywall and knockdown texture to match existing walls. -1 door was installed to turn our "Office" into a true 3rd bedroom. Original entryway to office was an arch. After door was installed more drywall and knockdown texture added to match existing walls. -1 In the "Office" there was no closet door to the newly divided closet. New door installed along with switch and light. Drywall and knockdown texture added to match existing walls. Doors were installed exactly the way we wanted them and the newly installed arch in the hallway matches the others in the house perfectly. My wife and I could not be happier with the results and we will definitely use Kevin again for any future projects!
Description of Work: 3 new interior doors were installed and one removed. Closet was divided in half with new wall. Walls and trim were finished out with texture. New arch in hallway installed to match existing arch in another area of the house. Some new light switches and light fixtures were added for second closet and bedroom.

We are beyond happy with the job provided by Clear Creek. This guy knows his stuff and has some of the best workers we've dealt with to date. And talk about FAST!!! He even let me borrow his Sheetrock guy to help me patch some things after the job was finished. In my opinion, Kevin provides top notch work for a very reasonable price. Actually, I've got a Kitchen and a Bathroom coming up soon, and I won't even need to call anyone else. Thanks Kevin!!
Description of Work: We had Kevin completely finish out 2 bedrooms and 2 closets. His services included hanging of Sheetrock, tape, bed, texture and paint. He also had to special order 6 windows for replacement in the rooms

After a disappointing experience with one contractor, when Mr. Gwyn responded to our e-mail so quickly we were pleasantly surprised. Mr. Gwyn was very personable but also very professional as well when he came for the appraisal. He also shared some good ideas that made the finished product even more desirable. As work began, and even through the process, he checked very frequently and held the workers to task when their work wasn't up to his standards. We were very, very pleased with his work and would be happy to use Clear Creak Home Improvements again.

Love these little kitchen remodels. We added a couple of cabinets in one area and all new doors on the main cabinets. We built a new island and it all had a bead board look for a country style kitchen. We installed new granite everywhere and new paint. The pictures are on my website. Thank you for trusting me and thank you for the awesome feedback!

We the customer had picked out all of the tile we wanted, but did not make sure the source had ample supplies, so the contractor went out of his way to come up with the tile scheme we wanted. That also caused delays because they had to find order or go get it and then install. They hired a maid service to help clean up the mess. Gutting and redoing takes a while, so be prepared for a mess. The finished bathroom far exceeds our expectations. Very pleased.
Description of Work: Pretty much gutted the master bath. New oak custom built cabinets, new framed mirror, new marble slab vanity top, new designer sinks, new set in tub, 7ft wall with niche on shower side, new tiled bench in shower, shower size increased, custom tile layout with subway on bottom - decorative insert and then 6X6 on top. All in marble tiles. The shower floor is done in 1X1 mosaic marble tiles finished off with a square drain that fit the overall design to perfection. All of the marble was finished off with rounded edging done with a picture frame pattern to match the decorative inserts. The flooring was done with 12X12 marble over a heated flooring system. The light fixtures and fans were also upgraded. The walls were painted a complementary color.

Working with Kevin and his crew was amazing. I am in a wheelchair and needed the bathroom door widened to be able to use it. I also had asked that he redid our shower because it was a bath and I wanted a walk in shower. I was amazed at his thought process through the whole thing. He helped me figure out what size tile was correct for the flooring in the shower so I would not slip, he looked for seats, grab bars, shower pans before I even had thought about it. The shower pan I got did have a small bump to it, but he created a ramp out of tile to make it walk in. The ramp is amazing and looks great! After the toilet was installed he noticed it was quite a narrow space, and looked and measured before even calling me so we could figure out what was best. He got his plumber out very fast to fix it so I had enough space. Another thing he did was look at the switches and if we could lower them. This is something I hadn't even thought of, but he knew exactly what needed to be done to lower them. Making things accessible is something most people don't think of when they are doing the job and it is left up to the customer to explain what is needed, but Kevin impressed me with his ability to know what was needed before I even mentioned it.
Description of Work: He widened a doorway to make them ADA compliant and redid our bathroom to be wheelchair accessible and also built a pantry, closed off a wall, and added another doorway. General remodeling Bathroom remodeling· Plumbing· Electrical· Carpentry· Flooring· Tile· Painting· Texture

This was a great job and a challenge. We sealed of the door going into the bedroom hallway and made it into a pantry. We then opened up the wall and made a new 36’ opening for a new door. We also had to widen the door into the bathroom as well. We lowered all the light switches to ADA levels and had to move a couple to a different wall. We install an ADA shower pan and built a ramp up to it for wheel chair accessibility. Since the bathroom was only five feet wide we had limited space. It was cost prohibitive to move any of the walls so we had to make do with what we had. So we bought a one piece toilet and turned it sideways to give her the clearance she needed. Very nice couple to work with. Kevin

They installed granite counter tops in the kitchen and in the brand new bathroom. The people were very nice and everything looks great. They discovered that the piece of granite they were going to use in the kitchen was not large enough. So, they looked until they found granite large enough and almost exact same color.

Kevin truly rescued our kitchen renovation. We called Kevin in to assist with a poorly ½ completed kitchen renovation that was the result of a nightmare 6 month project with another contractor. When it was decided the current kitchen was not worth saving, same opinion as a few other contractors, Kevin worked with us to provide our dream kitchen and on our budget. Clear Creek Home Improvements delivered new cabinets, custom trim and stain, electrical work for under cabinet lighting. They were able to successfully remove and reuse the granite from the previous renovation but fixed it so it was cut and installed correctly. Re-tiled the floor where needed and completed our full tile backslash. Kevin and his team also re-textured the wall where the previous contractor put unnecessary holes and helped us paint the ceiling to match the rest of the house. Kevin was able to successfully deliver everything we asked for in a matter of weeks. We are extremely happy with the quality of the final product and love our kitchen. Kevin was always on time, responsive to emails or calls, and very focused on providing us with not only a quality kitchen but the kitchen we wanted. I would highly recommend using Kevin and his team. We would use Clear Creek Home Improvements again but have been transferred to another city. The Realtor stated that the look and quality of the kitchen added significant value to the house and is really going to sell the house for us.

One of the hardest things in this business is going behind another contractor and fixing what they did wrong. That is what we had to do. I ripped out the old new cabinets and installed new custom built cabinets. New stain and electrical and we were able to reuse the existing granite. (that was an experience) Job turned out very nice. I told Kevin how I envisioned the new bathroom and he and his crew made it happen. It's even better than I envisioned it. They put in granite countertops and ceramic tiles on the floor and in the shower. He makes sure that everything is done well. He was not completely satisfied with how the drain looked in the new shower so he had it taken out and re-done. Anything that was not up to his standards was redone until he felt it was right...and he made sure that I was satisfied, too. He had to return 3 tubs that was either cracked or leaked before getting one that was good...but he kept after it until it was right. The closet is a dream. It is so large and he had drawers built in the closet and double row clothes rods, and shelves. It's just more than I had even hoped for. In the kitchen they put in a new porcelain floor, new granite countertops, a new stovetop, and new stainless steel sink. It is just beautiful. They made sure that the floor was level. Kevin put the sealant on himself and came back a couple of times to re-do the sealant and make sure he was satisfied with it. Last, but not least, they painted the exterior of the house. It looks great. They were able to match the color of the garage doors for the wood shingles on the sides of the house pretty close. They did a very good job and cleaned up everything when they were through. Kevin is a very nice person and is very easy to talk to and work with. I will definitely call him for any other home improvement projects I have done.
Description of Work: I was having a bedroom converted to a master bathroom, and the existing very small master bathroom removed and that space extended into the closet for a much larger closet. I also asked them to put in a new porcelain floor, sink, and granite counter tops in the kitchen. And, also, they painted the exterior of the house, and had the garage doors replaced.

Hello Angie’s List members, this was a very nice lady that I spoke with on the phone. After finding the email thread of the communication with her it all made since. I understand her review but I think you will see from the email thread below that it is not entirely accurate. My email all of a sudden started sending everything to spam. I didn't get about 14 emails sent to my business address. Those were 14 jobs I did not get to give estimates for. When I finally figured out that my email was messed up it was too late. I had asked her to email me through my website, which is what I ask everyone to do. I have a follow up system in place. It is not fool proof. I am hoping you can paint my doublewide metal roof. It needs to be cleaned and I want a good grade of green paint used on the roof. It is a hunter green presently and with yrs. of weather etc. it has become faded and I don't want to see rust if you know what I mean. My address is [Removed member's address]. I am off [Removed member's address]. If you have a GPS you should not have a problem finding me back in the bushes. Country living.....Will be looking forward to a fair priced estimate along with that 5% Sr. Discount. Now that sounds like a fine deal to me. I also want to see proof of your insurance in case you call off my roof. Thank you very much and you have a great day youngman.

He wanted to give me all of the information over the phone. I didn't want to do an over the phone quote. He kept calling and I just was not comfortable. I wanted someone to come out and look at it and tell me, yes I can do this or no I can't. He just seemed very busy and our schedules just didn't mesh. He was not easy to deal with.

Customer was very nice to speak with on the phone and I felt good about this job. However her review is not accurate. I called her to set up an appointment on the day she requested. 5 days in advance I set this up. Two days before the appointment I had to call and reschedule because I had something come up on another job that morning that I had to attend to. I try my very best to keep the appointments that I make. The problem is I do remodeling and you never know what you are going to run into that will force you to adjust your schedule. When I called to reschedule they decided not to have me come out after all and they hired someone else. She is accurate in the fact that I did ask a lot of questions over the phone. I was gathering as much information as I could get about the project. She said she needed the estimate by Friday which meant I was going to have to bump other people ahead of her in order to have her estimate done in one day. My software allows me to change the square footage and it automatically adjusts the price. So when I got there it would not take much to have the quote accurate. I had the estimate done Thursday night except for the electrical, but never gave it to her. April 21 at 1:57 I texted her to set up appointment and I asked her to email me through my website 4/21 at 2:01 will do, thank you so much customer 4/22 at 8:11 pm text msg - Hey customer, My email is not working through my website, can you resend please? 4/23 I had a phone conversation with asking if I could reschedule if I remember correctly she said she could not. 4/24 at 6:04 pm in a text msg I said, “ I will meet you in the morning at 8:30 just as planned, I won’t have to look very long just take some measurements and a couple of notes and I think I can get this figured for you by Friday. North of Kroger east of 377 correct? 4/24 at 7:58 it’s okay we are going to go with another contractor thank you. 4/24 in a text msg I said, “Well that is unfortunate I have the estimate done. I just finished. All I have to do is get the exact measurements and get my quote on the electrical and I will be done. I am sorry I feel like I made you mad for some reason 6/1 bad review from Angie’s list

He was punctual, courteous, and professional. His estimate was in line with the other contractors and ultimately the decision was made to go with another who was using local business to supply the parts. I later found out that he would have used the same local door company, but we did not know that at the time of our decision.

The workmanship was superior. The customer service was great. They were reasonably prices and keep everything on budget and schedule. They were very flexible with design changes during the remodel. We have and will continue to recommend Clear Creek and will be using them again. They have done several projects for our family members as well.
Description of Work: Clear Creek did a fantastic remodel of our kitchen and dining room. They lifted the ceilings in booth rooms which makes the rooms appear larger. The cabinets were completed replaced. The new cabinets are beautiful and I love my toaster lift. They also redid my laundry room. Replaced all the cabinets and added a ironing station that is part of the cabinets and added a place to hang our clothes that within the cabinets. The popcorn was removed and the walls were textured like venetian plaster. The cabinets have LED lighting underneath and on top. The whole area looks like a new modern kitchen in a new house.

This was a very nice job. We actually had change orders of $7000.00 which brought the job costs to $32000.00 These were items that she added as the project progressed. One of the big items we did was to remove the ceilings completely in the front dining room and kitchen. we then raised them 14" we installed new ceiling joist and actually had to install a receased beam that was 26' long and 16" tall. (that is how long the kitchen is) That was fun. There is a lot involved when raising a ceiling, move electrical, move HVAC ductwork, new insulation, new drywall tape, bed and texture. We protected the floors with 1/4 inch masonite for the duration of the project. Very proud of this kitchen / dining room You can see this project at www.cchomeimprovements.smugmug.com it is at the top of the page. Thank you for reading. Kevin

I decided not to use their service. I asked them to make the estimate including the carpentry work and when I asked him to separate the estimate on the carpentry work, he said no.I would probably not consider using their services in the future.

This is a real shame. I thought I was going to work for this very nice lady. We interviewed for almost 1 1/2 hours. Very nice couple. I did not break down the cost for her for the simple fact that I don’t have time to call every one of my subs and ask them to break down there estimate to me so I can give her a breakdown. I sent her an email asking her to share with me her budget number. I said if the job is in her budget then there is no need for a breakdown. She never responded except with an Angie’s list review. I was more than willing to work with her but she would not work with me. She never responded. Quote from her member comment section. “When I asked him to separate the estimate on the carpentry work, He said “ no.” This is not true I never said that. Read the email thread below and decide for yourself. See email thread below: From: Kevin Gwyn [mailto:clearcreek03@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, May 10, 2013 7:05 PM To: 'Customer' Cc: 'Gwyn, Kevin (KEE) (Clearcreek03@gmail.com)' Subject: Your estimate (#####) Hello Customer, I am very sorry to hear about your loss, losing a friend is painful. I am resending the estimate with the full price for everything. If it is within your budget then there is no reason for a break down and we could just get started. If it is not, share with me your budget number and I will see what we can remove still getting you the most out of what you can spend right now. Looking forward to working with you. Jason has been out of town for a while & I wanted to go over it with him and we also had a family friend who lost her battle with cancer this week, so we are behind on lots of things. We looked over the scope and it looks good. I have just a few additions/requests. My 1st request...can you break out the estimate individually as listed below? (Pulled the list from page 1 of your scope.) 1. Porch cover, new bird boxes, replaces rotten boards, front porch posts - see comments below about posts 2. Roof - 3. Paint - porch cover, posts & scrape old paint, prime & repaint of the rest of the house woodwork. 4. Front steps - 5. Brick - 6. Shutter install- I ask that the costs are separated out because we might not be able to do everything at one time and may want to leave out an item or two (ex. concrete steps & shutter install) due to costs and as we mentioned to you before, we have others providing a quote for the roof and one for masonry work. Obviously the patio cover, roof and cleanup/paint of existing woodwork are the most important items to us. And the "change" I wanted to make is in regards to the posts (4 on front porch, 2 on back porch cover.) I have not completed decided if I like the cedar look. Still want 4x6 & 6x6 wide, but might want a smoother post that can be painted. (I don't know if that will be a big difference in cost, but just wanted you to know.) After damaging the car in the garage, I was determined to get an estimate for removing the center posts in the two-car garage. I had several phone conversations, and e-mail exchanges with Mr Gwyn, including pictures and dimension of the garage. After about a week of being unable to reconcile our schedules (I couldn't meet him on a weekday), he said he was going to refer me to a man from the adjacent town. I couldn't tell if the man was going to do the assessment for him or if he was going to do the contracting himself. I'll never know, because no called or stopped by after that. His referral/assistant may have left him hanging, but it's his responsibility. He may be a good contractor or a poor one, again I don't know. I have worked in customer service for over 25 years and most people have learned, not returning a call is the number two complaint and death to a business if it continues.

This is very unfortunate because, I take my reviews very seriously from Angie’s list members. I try to follow up with everyone and not let anyone fall through the cracks. Inevitably it happens though. I do the best that I can. My apologies to the customer, this was not my intent nor was it done on purpose. I have a follow up system in place but it is not perfect. Thank you for the feedback and I hope you were able to get your garage fixed. Kevin Gwyn Owner Clear Creek Home Improvements
