Hillcrest Homes Of Texas

Our experience with Hillcrest Homes was a better than we could have imagined. As you can imagine, we were very weary about building with a small-town builder, but that was put to rest immediately by Robert and his family. First of all, the design center was amazing! We were able to make pretty much every selection right there at the office and see all of the products before putting them into the house, and without traveling to a larger city. I was being deployed with the Army, so our family had to be in the house by a certain date, and they were able to do so without any problem, saving me the stress of wondering whether or not my family would have a home before I left! We were absolutely treated like family, and every means possible was used to complete our house by the deployment date! It was amazing!!! The owner's son even stayed late several nights just to clean up the garage and prepare the house for us to move-in. Not only did they finish it on a tight schedule, but they were able to complete all of the work and changes under budget. I would definitely use Hillcrest Homes of Texas to build my home in the future!

Everything started ok. Builder assured me he would build my home with the same attention to detail he would build his own.Foundation and framing went great. Then the problems started. Materials were not ordered in a timely fashion creating many delays. Windows needed to be replaced because builder didn't evaluate the drawings and determine that the wondows in the original drawings would not work with materials used. New windows were at our expense. Roof was started in January and we are still waiting (8 months later) for trim shingles to be put on. While waiting for roof to be put on the house workers continued to install subfloor, walls, framing, etc. leaving those materials exposed to elements for over a month. Tar paper was also laid on the roof and left to be soaked by rain and blown by the wind.Trim, paint, flooring, all finishing touches are terrible. Most look like they were done by someone with little to no experience. Definately not done by someone who cares about the final result. Trim is splitting on almost every joint in the house. Builder sent out a worker to caulk the joints but he has not returned to complete the repair. Most items that have been addressed by the builder actually look worse AFTER the "repair" than they did with the original issueMany complaints, issues, concerns have been relayed to the builder. Most have been ignored or brushed off as not important. Multiple times we have been told things will not be fixed because it would be too difficult, too time consuming, etc. The first rain we had after we moved in the garage ceiling had a large leak with water running from the roof, through improperly installed flashing, through the attic, onto the ceiling and out through the garage door track.I would NEVER use this builder again.
