JV Painting & Construction Home Maintenance

JV painting & construction came in to paint the inside of my man cave and i have no regrets. They were very friendly and thoughtful in taking care of my hardwood floors. Also i loved the fact the were on time and were considerate of my animals. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the future.

The big deal was okay. He did not do any wall repairs. I felt the service was pretty average. I don't have any suggestions. They did the entire house trim and doors.

I was deployed overseas and was not able to take advantage of this deal.

I responded to a big deal featured in 2011 by this painter. A gentleman came over and showed us the small spaces on a few walls he would paint for our $99 deal. He also showed us areas not included in this deal which were structurally part of the spaces that were included. We were also to provide our own paint. Myself being a contractor's wife, I forgave that aspect as I knew that some jobs are difficult and demand more pay. I politely asked him cost to paint my entire downstairs which I thought was reasonably priced given his experience. However, while he was there he answered several calls on his cell phone interrupting our discussion. I also got the distinct impression he offered this deal only to get bigger work. For that reason I didn't hire him.

They were good. The crew was very nice. They were late the first time because they could not find our house, but they did a really good job. When there was a problem, they came out the same day to fix it. I would suggest that they get a GPS to find their customers’ houses in the future.

The repairs and painting went beautifully. Jerry knows what he is doing!! Everyone is very complimentary of the way our interior looks and WE LOVE IT.

My experience went very well. He did an excellent job with the paint job, The pricing bid was very reasonable. He was professional and friendly while visiting. He had great recommendations when he came to the paint.

When they came out, they did the work and were punctual. They did a good job, except for one thing, one of the door jams need to be repaired and they did not. I did not use them right away. I used them in August. I would use them again.

We needed the rooms painted before Thanksgiving and started to request the use of the coupon in September. It was hard to get in touch the painter. It we left several messages before getting a return call. We agreed upon a time before thanksgiving to pain the rooms. We prepared the rooms for painting. However, he didn't show. He was behind on another job. The reschedule was delayed until after Christmas. When the painter arrived, he did a fairly good painting job. He had been sick and hospitalized and was just on the hospital for a few days before coming to paint. So I don't want to sound to harsh in this review. He seems to be a one person team and has to deal with client scheduling delays. These discount programs seem to be lower priority. When he does the work though, he makes it look good and provides advice.

Uses good quality paint and does a good job. Used them before for interior painting. Showed up when promised. We kept getting delayed by rain (which is fine), and I wish there was more communication on when they planned on resuming. Price was good, in range with others and he did fix up some caulking areas that other painters would not have touched.

The owner was great and so was one of his helpers. The other was uninterested and careless. While the price was right, my perfectionist husband just paid to have all ceilings redone.

Great experience. Derek's explanations were very helpful, and he made sure we were aware of potential upcoming issues, given the age of our system, but didn't try to scare us into purchasing a new system at this time.

Am having more work done. Jerry is very professional.

Was a no-show for the initial appointment, with no phone call from them before or after. Angie's arranged a refund.

I contacted him multiple times. He told me he was back logged and I said that was fine and he put me off for over a month. We finally made a date. He was supposed to come out in March. I never saw him or heard from him. I feel like he should be professional and I shouldn't have to chase him down I purchased a service from him.

it went fine, smooth, start to finish.

Initally we bought a coupon on Angies List for 8 hours at the price of 4. When Jerry came out to review the job, we were impressed with his knowledge and demeanor. We decided to use the coupon toward finishing out the entire house, which was a large job. Jerry told us he had several crews, and was used to doing jobs this large. We notified Jerry in October that we wanted to get done, signed the contracts, and gave him a down payment. He estimated that the job would take 10 days (we told him we were having a family gathering on Thanksgiving and needed him done by then--he said there would be no problem). We scheduled a start date, and he was scheduled to be finished 9 working days before Thanksgiving. He was a week late, and worked Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. They then came back and worked the full week after Thanksgiving---wrapping up on that Sunday. The overall painting was "OK". There were several spots that were not ever touched up after the walk through. Base boards were installed with multiple problems---in one of the bedrooms mid-wall there was a joining point and one base board is 1/4" higher than the other---they don't meet up. They tried to cover it up with caulk, and then moved my daughters dresser in front of it. I found it by moving the dresser after they put her room back together. They taped off the floors and covered them. They installed the floors OVER the tape and paper. When they ripped up the paper there was still tape under all the trim---we are still trying to get it off the floors with tweezers. In our dining area some of the baseboards have a quarter inch gap between them and the floor---and this was not because the floors were uneven. They also did not finish our kitchen at all. We had to remind them to touch up the paint, and they did not install the baseboards or paint the door trim. There were several other small flaws that should have been fixed but did not get fixed. The crew was another story. Jerry was not here everyday with his crew, and only the lady on his crew worked really hard. The lead man walked around smoking, and directing the younger guy and lady to work. We had to tell him multiple times to not stand outside the door smoking with the door open, and not to toss his cigarette butts all over the yard. The final straw was at the end of the day on Saturday before they left when my 7 year old daughter looked out the window and saw one of the crew start fighting in my driveway with Jerry. Jerry returned that Sunday to finish all that they had not (the kitchen), and we just settled up with him and told him we were done. For not painting the door trim in the kitchen or putting up the baseboards Jerry took $200 off our bill. Overall Jerry was nice and cordial. When talked to he always said the right things, and wanted to do the job right. I think the crew that worked on our house was not his best crew.

They came out to do an estimate for painting the house. They didn't talk much about the painting to be done more than bad construction work that was done on my house. He said he would get back with an estimate and I never heard from them again. Maybe they are so busy that have to turn down jobs and he felt unsafe to work on mine given his construction concerns. But I had my contractor and a third party come out to address the concerns JV brought up and they both confirmed it was a non-issue. It had something to do with the siding and how the addition was joined to the original house. The small experience with JV seemed unprofessional so I guess it worked out for the best that they never came back with the estimate.

overall, I am quite satisfied and would call them again.

He does the job right and took the time to teach me how he does it. All the tricks & tools of the trade as well as the specific products (bleach/pressure wash solution, sand, caulk, primer, paint and paper tape tool. I recommend Jerry to anyone for interior or exterior painting needs.

I had purchased an Angie's List deal for a "painter for a day". I waited a couple of weeks to schedule since I figured they would be very busy after the deal closed. We arranged a time to meet at our condo on a day that he was going to be on the north side of Austin. After waiting 30 minutes after our scheduled time, I called and he said he was doing another estimate and would be there "soon". I told him that I could wait another 20 minutes before having to leave to go back to work. I waited 25 minutes (a total of almost an hour). When I returned later that day, he had left his card at the door and left me a message. I opted to refund the deal rather than risk losing more time waiting for him. I wish I could comment on his services and I do appreciate that he tried to work with me.

First of all, it took 7 months to schedule an appointment. We have used him before and he does great work, but is rather disorganized. He did not show up for the first appointment, so we rescheduled for another day. The Deal included 24 hours of labor, between three people. Jerry, the owner, came out and worked for six hours and painted a few walls of my house and told us that he was done - that the six hours of work he did was equivalent to 24 hours by his crew because they "milk the job". In closing, when I explained to Jerry that I expected more than six hours of time for the $649 I paid, he threw up his arms and stormed off. He did say he was starting to get sick again, which is why he missed one of the previous appointments, but instead of agreeing to reschedule he stated that he fulfilled his obligations and roared away in his truck.

I thought the "big deal" would get me at least one room painted. No way. I will say that I have never hired an interior painter, but was shocked by the cost. First, I bought a deal that I believe was supposed to be $499 worth of painting for $250. The owner did his estimate and then tried to tell me he would deduct $250 from the estimate for the "big deal." This took a bit of discussion to resolve. I ended up getting one room painted (with some drywall seam repair) and a stairwell (walls and ceiling only; I did the trim myself) and paid $800 above the "big deal" price for this. I wasn't at home when the painting took place, but don't think the owner did the work. It took two more return trips before the work was completed to my satisfaction, one where he said on a Friday that he'd come the following Monday, but didn't return for 10 days. The finally completed project looks great, but I can't say I would do this again. My bedroom needs painting and also has a high ceiling, but I think I will get estimates rather than jump at what looks like a bargain but really isn't.

Jerry was professional, skilled, on time, polite, and personable. He has many years of experience as a painter. The painting special did not include trim work, but Jerry very kindly explained shared his expertise, explaining what I needed to do to do the trim work on my own.
