Vining Family Builders

Description of Work: Bob Vining was the general contractor of our kitchen remodel. This was a major renovation that involved the removal of 2 load-bearing walls. The kithen, living room and dining room were completed gutted, and we rebuilt from the studs. He subcontracted all the work and arranged for all but one of the subcontractors. Mr. Vining is a very nice gentleman, but was not assertive in supervising the subs, and his standards of quality were somewhat lower than mine. Mr. Vining was usually very prompt, however the subs were not. Most of the subs were unprofessional and careless. Many of them had to return several times to correct problems and poorly performed work. Although Mr. Vining was extremely courteous, I don't think he was prepared to handle a job of this detail. He also underestimated the job by about $10,000, and I was very surprised at the number of small items, such as door stops and vent covers, that were not included in the scope of the work. I ended up doing some of the detail work and repairs myself. Mr. Vining needs to stick to insurance claims.
