K2 gutted our master bathroom and guest bathroom, and also designed and built custom built-in cabinets for the master bedroom. Great from start to finish. Very responsive to all of our questions and concerns. We feel they went above and beyond to complete the work on time and to our satisfaction. All construction projects have issues, but K2 handled each and every one with professionalism and a positive attitude. We would highly recommend them, and will choose them again for our next project!

K2 bath recently completed a bathroom remodel for me in my town home. We had several estimates done before K2, and meeting them was a breath of fresh air. The designer Steven had samples of materials on site, and helped me put together my dream bathroom that I could not say no to - at a price that was in my budget. The actual remodel went very smoothly, and K2 was even able to start two weeks earlier than originally expected - with a baby due at the beginning of June, this was awesome. Every contractor who came in was a pleasure and very professional. The installers who spent the most time in the house (Doug & Pete) were extremely efficient and went above and beyond to make sure I had a good experience, even on demolition day! Damon the project manager stayed in touch with me frequently and was a pleasure to work with (Seriously - the man brought donuts!). Thank you thank you to the team for giving me a gorgeous new bathroom than can compete with any swanky spa! I will definitely be recommending K2's services to all of my friends and family.

Easy easy easy! Our secret is that we make it exceedingly easy to say YES to the project of your dreams. Every customer has to answer the same 4 questions: do I trust this company to do a great job? Have they put a comprehensive plan in place that is going to meet my needs? Did they help me select and visualize the aesthetic details of the space? An I comfortable with the proposed price? We completed 162 bathroom remodels in 2015, 45 kitchens and 65 decks. Over 250 of our fellow Minnesotans have answered Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes! You will too.

From the initial sales call with Bryan, to the build that was done by Chuck the rest of his K2 build team did an exemplary job. When Bryan arrived to do the initial sales meeting, he came with materials and examples of previous jobs. He explained their process and the materials they utilize to build the decks and was incredibly professional in outlining the design and what to expect if I hired them to perform the work. He won the bid! The build team showed up and my 14 x 15 deck with privacy lattice took 3 days for the build. Each day the site was cleaned up and organized and when they came each morning the guys were professional and friendly. Let me add that what they built was BEYOND just my initial expectations of the design. Their attention to detail (finish and sanding of edges) to how they framed in the privacy lattice to ensure it would withstand high winds and also cosmetically tie in with the deck was wonderful. As they closed the project; Chuck and his team explained what they do (the K2 bath and kitchen side). Now I am having ideas for my house. The work they did was amazing and I was incredibly impressed with the end product. Looking forward to breaking in the deck with a few grill parties! I highly recommend their team...ask for BRYAN! :)

We met with Stephen from K2 Bath & Design at our home to provide a few design ideas for our bathroom. With our initial input and sample materials he brought with him, Stephen presented his idea for our master bathroom. We chose everything we wanted at the completion of his initial visit. Stephen was easy to talk to and listened to our ideas and had excellent design knowledge. We selected K2 by the end of the evening. K2 started the project within the proposed time frame and working with our schedule. Damon was the project manager and he did a great job keeping the project moving and coordinating the team. The subcontractors were detailed and respectful of our home. The expectations were all laid out for us (hours, cleanup, who'd be in our home, etc.). At the completion of the remodel project, our expectations were fully met. A couple of small issues were handled quickly and professionally. Our bathroom is beautiful. We would recommend K2 to those who are considering a bathroom model.

K2 did an outstanding job, start to finish. I had originally passed them over when obtaining multiple estimates, thinking they would be more expensive since they are so highly rated and have the most reviews in my area. After having several issues with another company before the work even got started, I decided to contact K2 for a bid. When all was said and done, they were cheaper than the other company, and they made the process a lot easier for me. I met with a design specialist at my home to discuss my vision. After listening to my ideas, he brought in sample materials. He clearly understood my vision, because he was spot on the first time. I signed an agreement that night. They ended up starting the project a couple of weeks ahead of schedule, which lined up with my vacation on a cruise ship with limited ability to communicate with them. They worked around this and kept me informed as agreed. Damon was the project manager and did a great job coordinating and keeping the project moving. Doug did a phenomenal job with the tile work, and provided a couple of suggestions along the way to enhance the look. They even helped with some demo in my basement where the bathroom laundry shoot used to empty out to. I would absolutely hire them again if the need ever arises. Great job, guys!

We make a concerted effort to serve the middle class. Normal people. Lots of contractors as their brand gains notariety gravitate to the Edina Country Club and stay there. We have stayed true to our initial vision and will continue to make value the centerpiece of our offering. Everyone should be able to have a beautiful and functional bathroom and kitchen. We';re not the least expensive remodeler in the Twin Cities, but we are by far and a way the best value...the scary part, were still getting better!

The bathroom remodel lasted much longer than we were told and resulted in two leaks damaging our home. The first leak was caused by lack of caulking the new shower. The first leak caused discoloration in our entryway ceiling which had to be replaced (we were left with a hole in our entryway for weeks). The second leak was caused by the workers placing the new cabinet on top of the new copper pipe. The second leak resulted in discoloration in the ceiling of our closet and warping of our basement door. The problem appeared to be lack of experienced, skilled subs that performed the work. The subs also left construction debris in our front yard. As the snow melted, we kept finding pieces of tile, portions of a pipe and other debris. We still have white material in our front yard. The subs also apparently broke our light in the hallway which was missing after we made our last payment. This was not the cheapest contractor and there is simply no excuse for two leaks when "bathroom" remodeling is part of your name. The contractor did fix the ceilings and door which is why they were given a D overall instead of an F. No complaints about the doors that were replaced.
Description of Work: We completed a full bathroom remodel, replacing the cabinet, shower and toilet including removing a wall. We also replaced the doors in our upstairs.

We had a couple bad breaks on this project. When you build over 160 bathrooms per year, you're bound to have a few jobs that don't cooperate. Here are the important take always. 1) this bathroom, like all of our projects looks beautiful. 2) when we left this job site, every single commitment we made to this client was fulfilled. C) there isn't a single aspect of the final result that can be improved, it is first class across the board. We apologized for the anxiety we caused during this project, but more important, we believe that if you break a window, the only way to truly apologize is to fix it. That is exactly what we did and is exactly what our customers can count on IF there is a problem. Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. Enjoy the bathroom. One last minor point - we were specifically asked to leave the ceiling under the shower exposed to allow an independent 3rd party to inspect the work before the sheet rock and texture were repaired. Complying with this request caused us to incur extra cost, which we were happy to do, but it's a bit unfair to take us to task in that point given this reality.

A representative came to provide an estimate, which includes a design service that takes two hours. The representative was very pleasant and helpful. I got the sense that K2 provides a high quality service. Perhaps my bathroom was too small and pricing is better for bigger jobs. However, I was not willing to spend what I felt was twice the average for a bathroom remodel.Ultimately, the price prevented me from using them.

Remodeling magazine comes out with a consumer report every year that is super easy to google search. They put the average bathroom cost at just over 19000 in the Twin Cities.
Called K2 based on Angie's List reviews. We wanted not just kitchen remodel, but design to assist with the flow. Chad made an appointment and started measuring and drawing things out. We spent a good three hours figuring out how much clearance we should have between the counter and refrigerator (much too cramped before) and the workflow of the kitchen. We decided to move the dishwasher to an area to allow for a less cluttered work area while prepping for a large gathering. Chad listened to our concerns, made a few suggestions and we took him up on a few and made our own choices on others. Very collaborative. Ended up moving a wall and really opening things up. Chad was very explicit about expectations. In fact, they have a separate acknowledgement you sign that talks about things like change orders, business hours, what may/may not be in your driveway, trash, cleanup etc. Jon took over and came to our house multiple times with tile, cabinet and flooring samples. We spoke directly to the custom cabinet builder who was also very professional. Quoted it would take about 5 weeks. Ended up taking 6 weeks. NICE! All contractors were professional and cleaned up after themselves very nicely. There were a few concerns along the way... things we did not explicitly call out in the initial contract that needed quick decisions... all were handled by K2 with good communication with us. Jon visited the jobsite daily to keep things in track. Start date was on time. Ended a little late mainly due to waiting for inspections.. but also extra work they did for us in the bathroom. No problem there at all. We had just had out bathroom remodeled minus the countertop. We mentioned it to K2 and since they were having the kitchen cabinet CNC cut anyway, they arranged to have us choose a remnant of counter for the bathroom and they took care of it as a quick side job. Just an adder to the contract. Pics shown are the final result - very happy with K2's responsiveness, professionalism and quality work.
Description of Work: Demolished and replaced all cabinets Removed old laminate floor and installed hardwood floor Removed old island and replaced with larger island. Had a good discussion of options and possibilities for our home, but ultimately I believe they were charging a lot for their service of managing the project. Got another bid from a similar company (kitchen and bath re-modeler) that was much less, and they told me they charge 25% above the actual cost (labor + materials) to cover their overhead. K2 did not provide their overhead charge, but based on the cost estimates of the project I assume it is much higher. In the end I managed the project myself, and saved a bunch because I wasn't paying that additional management/overhead fee.

A 25% markup! Anyone who knows business knows that this is a figure that will lead to failure - and you still didn't give them the order!!! Must not have been a very impressive presentation. The design consultant that I sent on this appointment is one of the most experienced bathroom and kitchen designers in the state. With over 2500 personal design appointments and over 400 personally contracted remodels, his expertise is "similar" to few and second to none. He was sent to this house free of charge in an effort to put profitable work in the pipeline for our people to build - and in the process handed out substanative design criteria and advice. Thank you for sharing with the Angies community your appreciation for his efforts in this regard and we are pleased that his experience and suggestion were put to good use on this DIY project.

I wish I could come up with some little negative comment, however I cannot. First we met with Steve. Your first impression matters! Having been through the contractor "schmoozing" before, let it be said we were a little wary. But Steve put us as ease. His professionalism, knowledge, eye contact and the fact that he actually listened to what we wanted and addressed our concerns; sold us immediately! His crews were on time, courteous and friendly. Ian was in charge of the demolition and pulled it off expertly. Cy was the lead of the construction of the new deck. We found him to be extremely knowledgable, fast and above all dedicated. Between he and Ian we have a new deck to be proud of. Thanks guys we can't wait to use our new deck!!

Thanks for the review. Based on the content of this note, it sounds like our PM did a much better job than you are giving him credit for. Our PM's are asked to bring all the materials, permits and competent men of character and quality to the table, give them guidance and direction and keep the project on time and on budget. That is exactly what happened here. Most of the work our PM DOES, happens behind the scenes, but great results are never accomplished by great subcontractors alone. I think if there is a lesson for us here, it is that some customers will need to be copied on all of the behind the scenes work that our PM's do to fully appreciate how much goes into a project like this. The crews we use for each job are partners. They all have a long standing relationship with us. They understand our policies and procedures and can be counted on to represent us well. In fact, the crew assigned to this job was responsible for 22 bathroom projects this year! The results you got on your project were not the result of luck, but careful preparation by our PM...BTW 18K for a full master bathroom remodel is a GREAT price (and we did a kitchen backsplash too). If you want a well executed master bathroom remodel for 18K, and a PM that you don't need to micro-manage, then K2 is the company for you!

This is a rental property so I needed a contractor that would get in and out quickly and keep me informed of the progress. Jon's crew was very professional and worked well with the tenants in the home. Chad and Jon were great to work with. Chad gave me an accurate estimate up front. Work was started and completed within the timelines that were agreed upon. The quality of the work and craftsmanship were outstanding. As this is an older house there were a couple of changes required along the way, but Jon kept me in the loop, there were no surprises when I received the final bill.
Description of Work: Remodeled bathroom in home that is over 100 years old. Bathroom did not have a shower unit. The existing tub was located under a the slanted roof making it impossible to stand up in the tub. K2 replaced existing tub with a tub/shower along with sink and toilet. Required movement of tub along with construction of a new wall. They then placed ceramic tiles around tub/shower unit and tiled the floor.

Solid project that took a number of creative "game time decisions" to complete. It's really challenging to predict the issues that pop up in a super old home, but such is life as a remodeling contractor! Thanks for the review
Because we haven?t ever remodeled anything major in our small home of 31 years, this was quite an adventure. The project started on November 23 and the final walk through was last night, December 30. Now that it?s all over, I can say it went well, but during the process I felt that communication wasn?t quite what it should be (expectation of work being done on certain days). However, that being said, at our final walk through, the project manager Damon was open and understanding to this feedback; I anticipate that K2 will be the very best at everything including communication because that is their goal. The very fact that K2 does a final walk through is to their credit. Every project was done with pride and integrity of workmanship. We absolutely love the kitchen which was long overdue for a ?facelift.? Thank you, K2 ? thank you to all the guys who ?touched? our kitchen. Your work is top quality! I am recommending you to a co-worker who plans to talk to Stephen very soon in 2016. And Damon, thanks for everything! You rock!

Really small project for us, but we are very proud of the result. Our goal was to squeeze every ounce of value out of the authorized work and the customers budget. This isn't always possible, but in this case, we were really able to create a great space and I believe we significantly improved the value of this home and we definitely improved the functionality and enjoyment that this space will offer the client for the next couple decades! It was the an awful experience. Jared, the designer and salesman, was very nice to start and offered us a great design idea. That is why we initially decided to go with K2 and agreed to spend way more than we had first planned. Everything was great until we signed the contract. After that, all of Jared's promises were broken. There were huge breakdowns in communication between Jared and the project manager, Bill. Jared told us we had to sign off of plans to get the project started, but that we would be meeting with a CAD person to review final drawings prior to the start of the project. This did not happen...thus we ended up with a cabinet layout we did not want. Jared also told us we could add all the extra features (pull-out drawers, trash, etc) for no extra charge. Once again this was not true. Jared also under-bid the job. Bill repeatedly expressed frustration about this and acted as if we should be thankful we were getting a deal since the extra costs were not passed on to us. Bill was rarely on-site over seeing the project. Several of the sub-contractors did sub-quality work (with the exception of the painters and trimmers). My husband and I had to call K2 repeatedly to report issues with craftsmanship. While they did have work redone, the attitude was very negative. We called Chad, the owner, of several occasions. He came to meet with us once, but then never took the initiative to follow-up. We got the feeling that our job was not a priority to them, as they were wanting to focus on jobs that were bringing in more money. In fact, every time Jared would meet with us, he would go on about about all these high end jobs that he was getting. Jared also used high pressure tactics to get us to sign. He stated we had to sign the contract on a certain day, or we would be charged more. He also promised to be available throughout the whole process to consult on design elements such as paint colors; however, he disappeared after his first walk-through with Bill. This was our first time taking on such a big project. We learned a lot. We especially learned a lot about what we will do differently next time. This was an absolutely awful experience.

Jared and Bill have moved onto new jobs and all the difficulties that this client faced have been put right. This was a tough job, but in the end I would gladly walk any prospective customer through this project as it is a wonderful example of the work we do. Now, while there are several points about this review that are worth taking the time to refute, the bottom line is that Communication DID brake down several times and we learned some important and expensive lessons. In the end the timeline was met, the budget was held and the project is beautiful. Thanks for taking the time to review your experience and thank you for the opportunity
Chad and Jon are awesome!!! Chad had the initial vision of our kitchen and Jon brought it to fruition (along with his insight). New maple cabinets, granite countertops, backsplash, flooring, a 6' pass thru into our living room, painting and railing work. Jon spent a lot of time making sure that our kitchen design was just right. He would come and spend time studying our kitchen to make sure that our kitchen made sense. He was always available to answer questions that we had. The workers (Tavo, Eli and Adam) that came into our home were always very respectful and did beautiful work. They always cleaned up at the end of the day. If it wasn't for the dumpster in the driveway or the fact that we didn't have a kitchen, we wouldn't even know that they were there. We can't say enough good things about K2. They went above and beyond our expectations. We love, love, love our new kitchen. It is the most beautiful room in the house. K2 also remodeled our bathroom in May of this year and it's wonderful. Chad assured us that the kitchen would turn out to be more awesome than the bathroom. He was right. We highly recommend K2. Thanks again Chad and Jon for all that you did for us. It was a pleasure working with you.

Provider was very responsive and attentive to our needs. He kept us informed of any issues that might have impacted the construction process including the delivery of materials. The contractor paid incredible attention to detail in everything completed. He went above and beyond. We couldn't be more pleased with the process and the end product. We would highly recommend without reservation.
Description of Work: Provider assisted with deck design and constructed deck in a very timely and professional manner.

Our home is upper bracket ($800,000 range) and in an exclusive neighborhood. The contractor had workers who showed up and conducted themselves in a professional manner. The yard was left immaculate and undamaged before during and after project. (this was important to us expecially as we are gardeners and have a landscaped yard). Workers were friendly and willing to answer questions etc without being intrusive. The deck itself went beyond our expectations in its quality and aesthetics. I am thrilled wtih the results and would definitely work with K2 again in the future. Chad (the owner) underpromised and overdelivered in all aspects. Thank you K2!
Description of Work: Designed and constructed a remodel/refurbish of existing large deck in preparation for the installation of a hottub. Reno included adding features like a privacy lattice wall, hooks for towels near the hottub and a countertop/bar near the hottub for food service on the deck as well as beverage service near hottub and barstool seating.

My husband and I wanted to get a new deck. I had called 5 different places. They came out to get measurements and said they would get back to me with the costs. No one did... Then I found Steve Huseby from K2 Bath Designs who also does decks. He came out the very next day after our phone conversation. He took the measurements and gave us the cost. We were very impressed with his honesty and professionalism. He explained all of the materials, the building codes and the process. It was a very easy decision to hired him and his crew to do our deck. We felt that the prices they charged were fair. The crew did an outstanding job and we love the new deck. I felt very comfortable working with Steve and his crew. I highly recommend them. I would contact this company for any future projects. Thank you Steve, Cyrus and Hylan.

We needed a bathroom remodel both to make changes and because of defective previous work on the bathroom before we bought this home. The person who came out to the house brought with him a package of samples of tile and wood finishes. We reviewed our needs with him. He insisted that we choose the tile and wood finishes from the samples he brought with him, and we did not approve of them. We went along with him, but it was clear that he did not understand our special needs and we were not willing to limit our decorative choices to those he brought with him. Therefore, we rejected his bid when it came in.

Hi Member, thank you for taking the time to review your free design experience with K2. We appreciate constructive criticism as much as we appreciate praise. Its unfortunate that we were unable to meet your needs, but this is a great platform for us to talk about how & why we do things. Ironically, K2's design and material selection approach is an industry best practice, one that was featured in REMODELING MAGAZINE last year and it is a huge reason for our success! As many of you know, K2 does more custom bathroom remodels than any other company in the Twin Cities and its not close. This volume makes it possible for us to purchase any bathroom product under the sun at elite contractor pricing. MY options are not limited in any way. However, we do limit our customers choices during the initial design consultation for several very strategic and important reasons. Here is the approach: We start with every bathroom product in the known universe and eliminate those products that are UNNECESSARILY EXPENSIVE, NOT READILY AVAILABLE WITH A PROMISE TO REMAIN THAT WAY FOR A WHILE, NOT OF SUFFICIENT QUALITY AND OF COURSE THOSE PRODUCTS THAT DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SEX APPEAL. Products make it into my bag for these reasons, however they only stay in the bag if my customers end up choosing them. Thus, two very powerful forces have shaped our sample kit, the potent knowledge and experience of a 10 year custom bathroom designer and over 5000 design interactions with homeowners, who by in large are affluent, have an inclination toward home improvement and who have an affinity for nice things. In other words, they have great taste. These are the products that we bring into the homes of our prospective clients. I will frequently tell folks that if they want products that are more expensive, out of stock, low quality or ugly, we can go to the store together and I'll help you pick it out! It is a bit tongue in cheek, but it is also remarkable how much truth there inevitably is in that statement...We are willing to use our standard products as a "place holder" for a material selections and do the shopping after we contract the project, but it almost always results in a change order and almost never results in a material selection that is significantly different than what we originally chose!!! It's truly laughable when this happens, but some people just need to go through the pain of that experience to feel comfortable moving forward and that is o.k. There are some other significant advantages to our approach 1) If the designer is familiar with the products we can give you a guaranteed price in writing on the first night 2) If my crews are familiar with the products the speed and execution of the installation improves 3) If the PM is familiar with the product and the vendor the lead time is compressed and you get your job done sooner. 4) If the designer can complete the design in home instead of making several shopping trips with the client, we don't have to charge the customer for design work. I hope this clears up the how and why of it. I wish you luck with the project.

Our deck and screenhouse are exactly what we wanted -- my wife's dream for several years and the realization of a design she created. Steve provided a cost estimate promptly and stayed in touch. He and Cyrus, the carpenter, understood wife Deb's ideas for the general design and brought them to life with superb craftsmanship, adding some details that improved the results. I built a deck myself at our last house, so I can appreciate sturdy, attractive construction that will last a lifetime. It has been a busy summer for K2, so the project's start got held up a bit after the planned date. That was our only disappointment, but the result was worth the wait. The cost is in line with what we expected and budgeted.

Smokin' good project. Only thing that could make it better is if the Vikings game was on instead of the Packers. Enjoy the new outdoor space. We're thrilled with the way it turned out.

We received estimates from several bathroom remodelers. Stephen from K2 was by far the most helpful, approaching our project with an extremely helpful, "can do" attitude, vs. some others who just found issues with what we were proposing. In addition, he took an active part brainstorming on some of the details we hadn't figured out, and with picking colors, etc. Several days later the general contractor, Damon, came by to look over the project and fill in some of the details. Again, very helpful and easy to work with. We were then told it would be 8 weeks until the job would start (this was in-line with the initial estimate that Stephen gave us). A month later I checked in with them, and they said it was going to be another 8 weeks due to a very busy schedule. That didn't work for us, and I expressed that to both Stephen and Damon. I was impressed, as Stephen and Damon figured out a way to get us started within a week of our original start date. Paul, who performed most of the work, was all we could have asked for. Very much a perfectionist and attentive to detail, again proposing tweaks to our original plans that didn't cost us anything extra and made the end result look even better. His work was top notch. We also had the bathroom painted, and we had a small misunderstanding about what qualified as "the bathroom", i.e. whether the closet would be painted as well. In the end, Damon ate the cost of the extra painting so that we would be pleased with the end result, another demonstration of K2's commitment to excellent customer service. It wasn't the cheapest estimate we received (not the most expensive either), which is why I gave them a "B" on price, but we definitely got what we paid for...a beautiful shower that we are very pleased with, and a wonderful customer experience. We are very satisfied, and would use them again.
