John did a fantastic job and couldn't be a nicer guy!

Poorest of all contractors that I interviewed. Came late in evening, was eager to go home. Took measurements of my countertops. Told me to have estimate ready in 2-3 days. Never heard from them. Unprofessional and irresponsible..

The job went very well and was completely timely.

We had two bathrooms that needed remodeling and, after shopping around, decided on John Hinkle. Initially we were going to get the job started in October but a slot came open in August and we quickly took advantage of this. John started on one bathroom and after a few days, we changed the scope of the job to include, not only the tub surround, but also new tile flooring. John was very amenable and gave this addition his full attention. The work on both bathrooms was very professionally done and, I must admit, quite a feat considering that neither bath was anywhere near square. All tile work was very nice as John is a meticulous worker who pays attention to detail. He also is very good at cleaning up after himself and keeping trash, dirt and debris off of the carpeting and floor. He did a great job for us, was on time every day and was very pleasant in our dealings. In the future, we plan to change the countertops in the kitchen and John will be the first person we call.

Great! John came by for the estimate a day or so after I called. He let me know how long it would be before he could start and how long it would take. He sent a reasonable estimate right away, and in a few days, he had the outside done. He was able to start the inside work while he was doing another job. I appreciate his attention to detail and careful, accurate work. He's also friendly and explains every aspect of the job.

John was super responsive. As soon as I contacted him he messaged me back. Despite being in the middle of a kitchen remodel, he found time to run over and meet with me and my husband. He was polite, professional, and very helpful walking through what we wanted done. He was very knowledgeable and experienced. I'm looking forward to the estimate as he is our first choice for this project at the moment.

John was always on time and kept us well informed as to where we stood on our project. We did a kitchen renovation which included painting cabinets, new counter tops, modifying cabinets to create space for a double oven, built in microwave and trash drawer, installing new appliances and plumbing fixtures and more. He also replaced flooring in two other areas of our home and updated a half bath. John did an amazing job!! I have received many compliments that our kitchen looks like something from a magazine. He always cleaned up before leaving for the day and was always very personable. I would definitely use John again for any future projects as well as recommend him to friends.

This was the second project that I used John for, and it went great. He showed up on time, and spent the time he needed to do the job professionally. He did a spotless job of cleaning up after the fact. He is now my go-to guy for things I can't do myself, which is most things! He has a very wide skill set, and spent multiple years working for fine home builders across the Houston area.

The workers arrived on time and every day cleaned up mess. The work was completed in a timely manner, on the agreed time with no hidden cost. Would hire again.

John assessed the job and realized he would not be in town the following week. He paired us up with his old work partner, Todd Devillier, as he wanted us to get the job done sooner rather than later. We were very impressed with John as well as Todd. Both were very professional and determined to get the job done right.

It went great! John was there waiting when our ovens arrived and went right to work. We are very happy with the modification and installation.

I contacted John regarding a repair we needed to the ceiling of our garage. He answered his phone personally on the first attempt I made to contact him. We discussed the issue and he asked me to text him a photo of the area that needed repair. In this particular situation he was able to give me an estimate for what he would charge to make the repair from the photo I sent to him. He let me know that he had a full schedule for the following week but that he would try to schedule our repair as soon as possible. The next week I texted John to verify the day and time he would be coming and he quickly responded via text that he would be coming the next day between 8:00 and 8:30. There was severe weather the morning he was scheduled to come out so he texted me to let me know he may be running a few minutes behind. I let him know that was okay. He arrived at approximately 8:37 am and started working on the repair. He brought all of the necessary equipment to make the repair and cleaned up the entire area when he was finished. We were very pleased with the final results of the repair he made to the drywall in our garage ceiling that had been damaged. He also repaired another small spot in our garage drywall that had been cut open for a previous plumbing repair. He charged exactly what he estimated. John was very professional and pleasant to have working in our home. We would definitely hire John for future repairs or projects in our home after this experience.

John removed the existing tile and shower pan, extended one wall, re-positioned the plumbing to better fit our needs and installed new wall tile and floor tile. He also worked very hard to make the measurements of the new shower opening match the old one so we could use the same door. John always makes sure we are happy with the final outcome and he is happy to accommodate changes.

John did a wonderful job. I love my bathroom and he takes great pride in his work. If I could give higher than an A on Quality I would.

I have used John for 5 different jobs. He has redone two bathrooms in two different homes, painted a new home for move in, replaced gutters and landscaping lights, and tiled my craft room, living room and kitchen after removing the horrible carpet. John does excellent work and always cleans up the job. On the last job I was out of town while some of it was happening and he even agreed to feed my cats while I was gone. There were delays but he always kept me informed of what was going on. The tile is wonderful.

It was wonderful to find John Hinkle with all of his skills and expertise. We needed someone to remodel our upstairs bathroom and were so happy to find John. In that bathroom he replaced the double bowl vanity with sinks and faucets and a beautiful quartz which he helped me to find. The walls needed a lot of work and John knew what to do and made them look great. He sanded, finished, primed and painted walls, ceilings, and trim. He restored the cabinets under the sink and a separate large linen closet in this bathroom and with his paint job they look fantastic. I asked him to do a custom treatment to the angled ceiling above the vanity and he built, painted, trimmed this feature which is wow in this bathroom. I had a specific look and style that I wanted to do and John worked with me to achieve it. It has beautiful lighting now because he added ceiling pot lights and moved electrical from the angled ceiling to the side walls to accommodate the sconces I had chosen. Through the process John listened to my ideas and gave suggestions I had not thought of before, plus he made sure the function and purpose were achieved. I learned a lot from him about the process, organization, and implementation of construction as well as direction to various building suppliers and vendors to purchase specific items that I was wanting to find. He transformed the ugliest room in the house into the most beautiful room. Best of all I love my 2nd floor bathroom. Once I saw how this was turning out, I asked him to do more and he did. He took on the downstairs master bathroom vanity with the same beautiful quartz counters, backsplash, sinks, and oil-rubbed bronze faucets as the other 2 bathrooms. He R&R 'd the cabinets and custom painted them. He installed new lighting fixtures above the sink and built a custom medicine cabinet with an additional plug in the cabinet! I love the bathroom and where it is going, and asked him to put me on his schedule to do the rest of the master bathroom. I can't wait! Our jumbo slab of quartz had a bonus because John was willing to get the max out of it, so he put in a beautiful counter and backsplash in the Half Bath downstairs with new sink and faucet. And another bonus, he replaced our laundry room counter and installed a large and deep stainless sink and faucet just perfect for our projects. John did other projects during this time as well. he repaired, restored, textured, primed, painted the ceilings in the kitchen and hallways and they just blend in imperceptibly. In our dining room we loved the ceiling work so much that we had him paint the ceilings, the walls, and we added crown molding to trim. I love to look at the beautiful job he did on the crown because it makes this room look so special. Then we added a custom valance to top the drapes. Our dining/keeping room is lovely and a beautiful to sit and enjoy the garden in the front. From all this, I think you can guess that we are very blessed to have found this craftsman with such a wide variety of personal professional skills and expertise. He was so patient with us even when it made more work for him, he listened to us, and he educated us about the building process. I was impressed with his efficiency, his scheduling of the work, his meticulous clean-up, and his performance of the work. It is very enlightening to see him work! But I was even more impressed by his hard work, very hard work, and his attention to detail and desire to get it right! He really wants his customer to be pleased with the result! One more thing, if you have him with you for several weeks like we did, he blends in as part of the family. He was so patient and respectful of my elderly parent beyond the call of duty, he was beloved by our elderly dog who loved to hang around and watch John work, and he was patient and flexible with our busy household. We enjoyed having him with us and look forward to the upcoming projects to beautify our home.

We found Affordable Remodeling by John thru Angie's List over 2 years ago. At that time he did some work for us and did a really good job. He was responsive and efficient. This is the primary reason we contacted him again for this relatively minor job. I think his clientele has picked up so we had a short wait before he could get us on his schedule, but that fit our needs fine, so it was not an issue for us. We have not used him for any big jobs, but if his workmanship is anything like what he has done for us, I'd say bigger jobs would not be a problem. We would recommend Affordable Remodeling by John.

There were some problems, but mostly through no fault of John's. The work looked great when completed.

John did a beautiful job in my kitchen. He removed the horrible florescent light box and installed new recessed lighting. He had to repair a large section of the kitchen ceiling where the light box had been, and his work is flawless - it's like the box was never there. John also installed two new pendant lights over my bar, and put them on a new dimmer switch. They look fantastic! Lastly, John also discovered a couple of previously existing electrical mistakes which he pointed out to me and corrected. John was great a communicating when he'd be able to start my job, showed up on time, worked hard and completed the job quickly. I thought John's estimate (which he did not exceed) was very reasonable. John is a perfectionist with his work and, if you're like me, that's the type of person you want working on your house! I am so happy with my "new" kitchen!!
