Esterday Fence

Not well. I submitted for quotes using Angie's List. I got back a few. Esterday Fence communicated via Angie's message system and said they would send me a quote. However, they never did, even after I prompted them for a quote after they said they would send it to me. Why say something and then not do it? Silly. We found another contracted and the work has since been completed.

They are very personable. They provide quality work at a reasonable price. Excellent workmanship that is done promptly. I can't say enough about how nice they were and how hard they worked. I have referred them to many people.

First off the quality of work was outstanding and I felt the price was fair for the work. The problem that I have is that in October 2014 a wind storm blew down part of my fence. Esterday was recommended by the Mason that repaired the mason work that was also damaged. The Mason had subcontracted that out for me and had to keep calling to get them to come and just replace the downed fence. I then decided to replace the rest of the fence, so that it would match and put in an automated gate. Bob the owner came to my house, who is a very nice man by the way, gave me an estimate. Said that he had to finish up some other jobs on new constructions, this was before Christmas. It was Feburary and I contacted them then they decided they would get the work done. Bob told me that someone from his office would call and let me know when they were coming and that never happened. I would never know when they were coming until they just showed up and started working. They did all of the work in phases and this happened every phase, Bob would say we'll call you to let you know when we will come back but never got a call or email, which they had. Again, let me reinterate that the quality of the work is excellent, no pre-fab, all hand cut, this was a privacy fence. The gate is ornamental, very pretty. Bob is a very nice man easy to talk to and deal with. Pretty sure the problem that I had is with his office staff or whom ever was supposed to keep me apprised of the work. Also, I think the companies bread and butter is new construction and working with new subdivision development, so the individual job is just fluff and not as important as getting work done for these big construction companies.

I contacted the people at Esterday Fence in August to get a quote. They responded the next day and showed up as scheduled. I received quotes from other fencing companies and found Esterday to be the best price with better options and quality offered. The fence was completed today and wow. Unlike pre-fabricated sections of fence, this was built plank by plank and is absolutely beautiful. Once we agreed on the scope of work, they showed up as promised and completed the work as promised. They were very patient as I sent multiple emails asking questions and were quick to respond. I would use them again.

I had a large cottonwood tree removed and had to remove the section of fence and gate for stump grinding. Esterday came out and fabricated a new gate while navigating around an old post that was wrapped in the old tree root and did a nice job.

Our neighbor used Esterday in 2010 to replace the privacy fence between our properties. They did an excellent job so we called them when we replaced the rest of our fences.

The guy was on time and they gave the estimate. The price was fair. I cannot say anything bad about them. The salesman was professional. Their work was really nice looking. They were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Went well except for delay in obtaining and installing trim pieces.

Three years ago, our neighbor had Esterday replace our joint back fence. He made all the arrangements and we split the cost. Both of us were very pleased with the fence. I called them end end of June and requested a quote. They came out that same day I called and gave me an excellent quote. I called on a Friday afternoon (August 5) accepting their bid. Leslie had left for the day and was told she would call Monday which she did. The two day installation was scheduled for the following Thursday and Friday. She called me Wednesday morning and asked if they could come that morning and start. In doing so, they finished a day early. They tore the old fence down, cemented in the new posts, removed the old fence on Wednesday and installed the new fence Thursday. The temperature was about 105and deg; each day. They did an excellent job and we have already referred them to a friend.

Overall work was done acceptably and quickly, but an error made on a small section of the fencing that is an "open" design, after I told them I wanted it replaced exactly as it was and they didn't do that. They finally fixed that, then I started noticing several boards severely warping. I called in to have them replaced, and I made the mistake of being too cooperative, (since it wasn't an emergency); took them nearly a year to get out here and replaced those warped pickets. I found the owner argumentative, a poor communicator, and he twisted his words to be what he wanted, and did the same with mine. We constantly had "misunderstandings." I wouldn't hire him again and can't recommend them. UPDATE 2011: All the nails on this fence keep popping out and I have to go around and hammer them in all the time. It should have been done properly with screws. Many of the boards are severely warped and I'm going to have to find matching ones to replace. Very disappointed considering what I paid for this fence.

The men that came out to our home were very studious and professional. They did the job perfectly the first time and we were impressed by both their support of our questions as well as how nicely they cleaned up when they were finished. I highly recommend them.
