They lie to you and they will tell that they will do something and them turn around and say they can’t. They don’t follow through on their commitment and they say things to sell you things rather than delivery good customer service. It is a very deceptive company.
Description of Work: I use Verizon for internet and TV. I discontinued the TV in January.

My HD channels started to get real pixelated so I called into support. The tech rebooted my boxes and said he needed to dispatch a tech. Was told there might be a charge, but I could dispute it or negotiate.. I don't operate that way.. Told them that I am not paying them to fix a service I already pay them for.. Called Comcast and they offered $500 for new customers. Called Verizon back and told me that I had an early termination fee of $180.. So... I have to pay to fix my service or pay to leave my service. Seems Comcast wants my business by paying me to come over, but Verizon doesn't want to keep me by fixing my service. That sounds totally nutty.. Looking at Verizon's web page, they are paying $400 for new customers as well. All I want is for my HD channels to work...

Description of Work: I just wanted to comment on the recent news that Verizon Fio's has been sold to frontier for Texas, California and Florida. I have had a few problems with Verizon Fio's over the last few years but from what I hear that is nothing compared to that problems with service, speed and customer service that frontier customers deal with. It looks like I will be shopping early for a new provider!!

Description of Work: I think the tech was scheduled to show up on a Sat morn. between 8-10. I rushed around and got dressed so I would be ready. He finally showed up about 9:40 AM. I asked if he'd had had another appt that morning. He said that he had not. I had tried texting the sales rep that had set me up with the acct asking if he could check on the appt time. NEVER got a reply! The cable is great. Phone service ok. The only thing that has changed there is that now have nationwide long distance, which I did not have before. Have not tried to set up the v/m as have ans machine. As for the Internet, it is AWFUL! My house is less than 1300 sq ft so you would think anywhere in the house I'd be close enough to have good modem strength. Out of 5 bars I am usually lucky if I get maybe ONE. Have to hook laptop up directly to modem (as I am now) in order not to have wait forever to send e-mails or access other websites.First name misspelled on acct. Called about it once. Was told it was fixed. No, it's not. STILL shows incorrect spelling. Signed up with Verizon fisrt part of November. Speed no faster or better than when I was with Comcast.

It took several weeks of who to where to call and getting the internal team at Verizon to look at their records to figure out what was being done and who was responsible for what. This is the Verizon FIOS team. IF you call regular Verizon for FIOS issue or set up. IT will never happen! My number could not be ported to my new location. I have to get new business cards and such. The package for calling could not be reimplemented. I now call long distance to a local area code. Again, after about 3 weeks, I have phone and internet. All this is billed directly through my work. If I was paying the bill, they would have been fired!
Description of Work: I was moving from one house to our next house about 5 miles over to the next city. I wanted to move my office/home phone and internet connection provider to the new home and keep the same profile.

The people at Verizon are very knowledgeable per each department. I have always had good luck in resolving issues. This particular instance was unusual and the tech support went above and beyond the call of duty and resolved my issue with one phone call. It was great. They are polite and quick as well. I will continue to use them as my provider for home phone, cable and internet!
Description of Work: Trouble with DVR going blank. Spoke with technical support who was quite knowledgeable and went above and beyond the call of duty to resolve my issue.

Installer was professional and personable. Worked steadily, surmounted severaL minor challenges with the installation. Installed an updated phone jack in the same location as part of the service. No problems to this point with the service. Lower ratings are for Verizon in general (not this installer), which was lackidaisical in scheduling the install, did not follow up when the 1st installer did not come. delayed in getting 2nd installer scheduled. BUT he showed up on time and completed the work as noted.
Description of Work: Converted the copper phone lines to FIOS. Required installation of an interface and battery back-up.

The field technicians are always great; no complaints with them. The problem is with Verizon phone support (and in the past with their billing department). I upgraded to Quantum and immediately suffered an internet outage. After 3 reboots of the terminal point outside, I finally convinced them to send out a technician. This meant spending hours on the phone and repeating the same steps. After the technician came out and did some work outside and replaced the router, another router arrived, but with no paper work where to return it.....I had been told to return the old router in the box the new one arrived in. Again, spending close to 15 minutes just to asked where didi I need to return the device, I got someone; overall the call took 30 minutes. While I had them on the phone, I mentioned that I had TV remote that seemed to be failing and could I get a new one. Now, there is a charge. Or I was told just to use my cell phone and download an app. Overall, this company is no worse than the other telecoms, but customer service is poorly lacking.

I am now getting notices that they are going to cut off my service for no paying for equipment. It does not matter how many times I call and whom I talk to, no one does anything. I have asked the last three personnel I spoke with what was done after the last call to customer service and they said "NOTHING". I have put in a complaint to the FCC and I am going to take them to court when I am home from my job, in the mean time, I may not have a phone. Horrible customer service. I would say if you have to use them, get your own phone and don't get any equipment from them.
Description of Work: I switched back to Verizon after being on ATT for a few years. I ordered and paid for the 32 iphone5 with the 2 year contract. The service problem I am having is with customer service and a lack of consistency with different people I speak with and email. I was sent a phone and signed for it where I work. It worked great for 1.5 months. Then it stopped ringing. The customer service said they would change it out (you never get a new phone with a change out, you get a refurbished one). I said "OK" just make sure it goes to where I am working not my house (since no one was home). They said fine. A week later I am wondering where my phone is so I call. I am told it went to my home. I said you were sending it to my work. I am not at home. They were nice and said they would "recall" the phone since there was no one to sign for it. They overnighted a phone to me at work. I got it and signed for it. A month later I look at my bill and I have a 1000$ bill. I called. They said that this was phone the phone that was not returned. I returned my defective phone and had the tracking. They verified it. Said it would come off the bill. It did not. I emailed three times, each time the customer response was that it would be taken care of. No change in my bill. I am now getting late charges on the equipment not paid for. I am up to date on my service payments. I called again. I was told that it would be taken care of they would have to find out where the phone went. I said what phone. They said the phone that was sent to you in Texas. I said you guys recalled that. They said "OK" we will check the warehouse. No change to my bill. I called. I was told that it would be fixed and a hold placed on the charges on my account. Nothing was done. A message was left on my phone that the phone was sent to me at work, but it was tracking and no one signed for it. I called and spoke to scott at customer service. He said that they have it being sent to me at work. I asked who signed for it and he said no one. I asked why my other phone I had to sign for and this one was recalled. He did not know, but I had to be charged for it even if I did not have it. I asked to speak to a supervisor. They gave me Jesus, the floor manager. He looked at all the information they had and said he thought the phone was in the warehouse. He said he would do a search on it and take the late charges off my account. He said it would be taken care of.

Description of Work: I bought this prepaid phone at Fry's Electronics. When I called to switch my phone number, I was told by a girl named Tempest that I could have the minute plan at .25 per minute. the least I could buy was $10.00. good for three months. If not used it would expire.. So I had them switch my phone number. That was Monday 07/23/2012. The said it would take two days.. Well, 07/25/2012 Today when the switch was complete. I was told by a girl named Tony that the minute plan was different . The least was !5.00 and it was only good for one month. I would not have switched had they told me this on Monday . I am now going to switch my number back to my old carrier. I wonder if I will have any trouble. I will keep you informed. bestcvmjr

I periodically call them up and say that I am paying too much money and they find a way to lower it and cut a deal for me. The stupidest thing about them is their phones menu because getting through the phone robot is hell, but once I get through I am good to go and will get a good person and a real one. I always get somebody from Philadelphia of Kentucky and I was told by one of them that they have offices all over the country. They work for Citibank too because when I call their customer care I don't end up talking to an Indian and so far it has been good. They are real good and they won't come out and do thing with my equipment that is not in their work order. They are very responsive once I get them on the phone and they are always punctual. I will continue to use them in the future

I use the Verizon FiOS service and I love it. I've been using their services for 3 or 4 years. I pay by the month and it's about $250 including my cell phone.

I was unsatisfied with their job. I felt they didn't know what they were doing. Plus, it took them six hours to get the job started. They need to improve their customer and technical support as well. I wouldn't recommend them or hire them again.
Description of Work: I had them install a fiber optic cable, internal battery and an outside box. It took them 3 months to get to it.

They laid the fiber originally to a place I was not happy with the location. I asked they relay the fiber to another part of the house, which they did without complaint or at any charge to me. They also ran cable in the house as necessary to support my Internet connection and TV.
Description of Work: Fiber optic install directly to the house. Services include: Internet Service (speed=15/2), Fiber TV service. I did not go with the fiber phone service, rather I chose to go with VIP with another company. The cost above is my total cost per month.
