They pride themselves in the sales office and design center on their "transparency." My realtor and family were absolutely shocked at the complete LACK of transparency. They base price of the home covers the lowest standards you could imagine...like carpet in the dining room! So when you go to upgrade anything, the prices are extraordinarily high. This is my second custom home, and the upgrades we had to do to make the house somewhat nice went from 649,000 base price of the home to 820,000. The lot premiums on every single lot, design studio costs, horrendous standards that you HAVE to upgrade, and lack of communication made this the worst experience. Not only that, they pressured us to buy quickly by telling us that there were two other families looking at our neighborhood, and the next person to put a down payment on a lot would be the last one at that price. We eventually ended up being those people, so the base price went ot 656,000 the next week. Another two weeks later, the base price of the home we picked was at 679,000! They made us fill out a satisfaction survery BEFORE we signed our paperwork agreeing to buy the lot and home. Backwards don't you think?? They also would not let us see the paperwork or contract before agreeing to sign! I asked if at the end of the process if we could have a copy of our blueprints and we were told by three different people that it was impossible. We are not "allowed to see our blueprints" even though the architecture costs and changes that we made to the floorplan were paid for BY US in our cost of building the home. Apparently, "it's not our property." Oh, and when we went to the design center and wanted to use one of the measly sales incentives we got at the time of signing, we thought the $400 allowance would cover the #350 cast stone fireplace surround we wanted. Oh no...we were told that to use the incentive, it has to be a fireplace surround of equal or greater value. The next higher priced fireplace jumped from $350 to $975! Good one Toll Brothers...good one. We signed our paperwork and wrote a check for $47,000 on Feb 9. They said they would start building around late April or first week in May. Today is May 31 and we still have a really pretty dirt lot :)

Our backyard turned out to have drastic slope changes. We called the company many times to come out to check out the problems, but they will not respond to my calls. I have reported them to the TRCC and had their certification revoked. Somehow they got their certification reinstated and are still doing construction. I have communicated in every way that I could, and they refuse to even come out to take a look and even suggest what we can do to remedy the problem at hand. Aside from all this, I was appalled that at least 90% of the construction of the home was done by undocumented aliens. I am not finished with this situation, but I highly recommend not using this company at all.
