Installed new solar screens. Looked great except one screen did not fit right. Took screen back to shop and reworked it. Reinstall it and it looks great. I am happy with the results.

BUYER BEWARE - WARRANTIES NOT HONORED BY SUN KING SOLAR SCREENS! We built a new home in 2008. Being that the home faced due West we had Sun King Solar Screens install the solar screens on ALL of our windows and the back door (meeting HOA requirements). We had used their services in the past with no issue...but then again we never had to use their warranty either. In 2012, we noticed a cracked, front window pane. A window repair company was called and the tech kindly pointed out that 1) the front solar screens were not made properly to fit the two custom windows, 2) being the solar screens were over-sized they did not fit into the window frames so the solar screen installer took a "short cut" by drilling screws through the solar screen frames into the custom window frames to keep them from falling off, and 3) by inappropriately drilling screws into the frames the screws through the glass window panels causing one window to crack. Costing $229.88 to repair just the broken window pane. Soon I found my receipt (warranty) and called Sun King. New Sun King rep., Kathleen Boran, came to our home, looked at the screens & window, asked for a copy of my receipt. Within 5 minutes she indicated the front screens were not made nor installed by their company and that there was nothing Sun King would do. I WAS SHOCKED! I explained there must be a mistake as all the screens were ordered and installed by Sun King. She said I was mistaken. I asked her to speak with my prior Sun King sales consultant, Gayle Serrano, (Kathleen indicated she no longer works for the company) and the guy rep who came to our home and showed us the colored screen swatches (Kathleen claimed man was unknown). Kathleen then indicated my receipt indicated "0 front screens" so they could not have possibly installed the front windows but she claim they did in fact install our back & side window solar screens. I told her that the HOA would not let us install solar screens on the back & sides of our home without having them on the front of our home as well. Looking at the receipt, she was correct in that it indicated "0 front screens" but I questioned her "math" by asking, "if Sun King admits to installing ALL of the solar screens on the back & sides of our home then why do we have more solar screens on the back & sides of our home than the receipt indicates???" She indicated, "Well, I do not know, maybe the receipt was written wrong." AHHHH HA! I told Kathleen that was exactly my point! MAYBE the receipt was written wrong by Sun King. MAYBE the two, front solar screens were quoted & billed separately since they were custom windows. MAYBE anything but what I do know is that Sun King installed ALL of our solar screens!!! I also pointed out that the receipt indicated the screen type to be BOTH "90%" AND "80%" coverage. So, could it not be "90%" coverage was intended for the two, front custom solar screens facing due West to block more sun/heat? Hmmm, something does not "add up" with this receipt and this company. I asked Kathleen to please look into this matter further by going back to their computer system to see what was billed and possibly find the guy rep who was initially involved to help resolved this issue. Kathleen indicated they do not have anything on a computer and that my file was somewhere in a warehouse but that she would investigate and call me back within a week. Two weeks later still no return call from Kathleen so I left her a voice message. The third week, I left her another voice message and she finally managed to contact me. As expected, Kathleen said there was nothing Sun King would do. I asked if she had found my file in the warehouse and spoke with the owner. She hesitantly indicated "yes" to both (somehow I doubt she "investigated" anything at all or notified the owner of the issue). Guy rep was still unknown. I explained to Sun King sales rep., Kathleen Boran, how unhappy I was with her company's service, honesty, warranty, and that I would file a complaint with BBB and Angie's List. She just responded, "okay". I wonder what the owner would say if he knew of this poor service and how it is affecting his company's reputation? LESSONS LEARNED: 1) Do NOT do business with Sun King Solar Screens 2) Do your "homework" before hiring a company (use Angie's List!) 3) Keep receipts, warranties, rep's business cards, & notes of a service visit when doing business with ANY company 4) Inspect workmanship and carefully review all receipts before you sign them
