+ 0 moreCompany was very eager in the beginning and I used them because they had installed some fencing on my son's property. The work was very good. I tried very hard to work with Mr. Assunto regarding scheduling but communications were very poor on Mr. Assunto's part. My overall experience was not very good and makes me very nervous about hiring another contractor but will definitely use Angie's List for reference.
Description of Work: TexStar completed the fencing & gate rehab/replacement work in the backyard. That work was completed satisfactorily. The pergola and deck rehab work started March 27. As of this date, the work has not been completed. Mr. Assunto always seemed to have other larger jobs to work on and the communications from Mr. Assunto was one of the biggest problems. I would be told that they would be here on Monday or another day of the week and I would wait and nobody would show up. The last time I saw Mr. Assunto was on June 22, 2012. Prior to putting the stain on the patio, which is a see thru stain, the wood was not powerwashed. The stain was applied over muddy dog prints and the blue carpenters chalk as well as mold that was growing on the top of the patio. Mr. Assunto was not present when the stain was applied. His worker left all of Mr. Assunto's tools here and I had to move ladders, air compressor and other items off my carport so I could park a second car. I called Mr. Assunto to complain about the work and it took him a couple of weeks before he showed up -- illness, rain, other jobs were the excuses. On June 22, Mr. Assunto and his helper arrived and spent about 30 minutes sanding spots on the patio and when they were leaving Mr. Assunto stated they would be back on Monday to powerwash. When I asked what time, he stated he would call. I have not heard from Mr. Assunto since. There are also a couple of areas where Mr. Assunto pulled back the house siding and never fixed it after installing the framework. I arranged to have my dog stay with my neighbor on numerous occasions only to have Mr. Assunto not show up. The trash is still in my yard as I have no way to haul it to the dump.

+ -1 moreThey do a good job. They are good about bringing in someone if they can't handle the work. They are very good at working with the insurance company to make sure that you get what you deserve. These people are professionals. We had the insurance company send us more money after speaking with Master Builders & Remodelers. They aren't the cheapest company, but they do an excellent job. They are responsive. On the latest project, the main carpenter had just had surgery and wasn't able to get on the roof. Besides that instance, they are good about getting out right away.
Description of Work: Master Builders & Remodelers have done several repairs on our house. They have done roof work twice. We had some hail damage and re-roofed a part of the roof in two different places. They also had to replace some flashing. We had a water leak from our refrigerator. They had to tear up part of the carpet. They had people come out and dry the carpet. We didn't have to replace it.
