The design was extremely creative and beautiful which is what sold us on this builder. The process and service was absolutely horrendous. We had very little communication with the builder or sales/design. Often we were never quoted on pricing (tile, decking materials, etc) until the day they were to be installed or even after they were installed even though we made all of our selections well before all deadlines. The builder was rarely on site and missed several mistakes. It seemed like everything was done at the last minute and was rushed on their end leading them to have us make many split second decisions when we thought we'd made all the required decisions ahead of time. The builder was extremely rude and was actually fired shortly after our pool was finished but the designer/sales guy and owner didn't help or apologize at all. I would much rather go through the entire process of building a house from dirt than to work with this company again on building a pool again.

On first meeting the project manager he did not appear very professional to me. As I felt he would be dealing with me on a weekly if not daily basis he did not even come to my door to introduce himself.. Got a daily up date from office staff on what was happening, Contractors on site were always polite, sometimes I felt they may have left a mess but it never got in our way. We had a problem with the back patio, being that they forgot to lay it at the same time as the other addition to our original patio.When I mentioned it to the project manager he looked at me with confusion, and then asked me for my plans. I was surprised he did not have a copy himself but I gave him my copy and then he realized the mistake. He then quickly got some workers together and rushed to lay this extended patio. On completion it looked a mess and the next day once it was dry it looked worse. Contacted Adam the owner who came and checked and after several other ideas to correct it decided to take it up and replace it. This did set us back some days.Overall experience with Sunset was okay, it could have been better but the end result is wonderful. We love the pool and hot tub and we have enjoyed many barbecues. Adam the owner always returned my calls and the office staff were brilliant, just had some issues with the project manager.

Sunset Pools has great design staff, they brought ideas to the table that we would have never thought to consider. We sought out many bids and designs before even deciding we would install a pool and none of the other (6) pool companies even attempted to give us anything different from your standard pool. We were slow to make a decision to move forward, but Sunset Pools remained responsive to us even though we really took months considering various bids and minor modifications. Their patience and expertise during this time is very appreciated. Once we signed the contract with them, the construction process went EXACTLY as it was laid out to us. Their scheduler kept in contact with us on a near daily basis to let us know exactly what would be occurring in the days ahead which is critical to us since we work far from Katy. Crews arrived when they were scheduled to arrive, the quality of work was always good, and the scheduling, project management, and sales staff were always available to answers questions when they came up.The pool is complete now and I am absolutely thrilled with the finished product. My experience with Sunset Pools has been great, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to build a pool in Katy area.

The pool construction went pretty well. There were a few problems but Sunset was responsive and fixed the problems without any hassle.

Terrible experience all around over a prolonged period of time. Issues included: - Multiple failed city inspections throughout construction period (over a dozen failures, including repeat failures), all causing delays to the project.- Poorly laid decking form, resulting in significantly impaired shape and form to decking. Also, was laid during rain storm, resulting in poor capture of texturing.- Poor installation of gunite, requiring subsequent removal and relaying, resulting in notable imperfections on pool and spa surfaces.- Dismal oversight over sub-contractors, resulting in aforementioned issues, multiple delays and rescheduled work, and excessive debris and mess, including blowing house outlet fuse due to non-permissioned use of microwave brought on site for lunch.- Inadequate laying of drainage, resulting in standing water in multiple deck areas and drains not tied into piping.- Mass destruction of turf due to long-standing debris not removed (only 3 pick-ups over a 5 month period), and inadequate turf replacement despite contract for full restoration. Resulting damage and poor pool and decking grading has resulted in poor drainage throughout the yard to this day.- Ongoing failures in several pieces of pool equipment, from remote control to lighting to valves to jets. All in all, worst experience ever with a contractor, spent significant amounts of money, had poor service throughout and total refusal to acknowledge failures, and ultimately forced to accept work as complete despite outstanding issues due to financing arrangements requiring closure on construction. Stay clear of this vendor at all costs.

They did a great job. From start to finish it took about six weeks, which was right on schedule. Adam and his office staff kept us informed on what to expect and if there was ever a schedule change. We never encounter any problems in the construction phase. His crew was great about keeping things as tidy as possible. Any questions I had or concerns were handled quickly. I appreciate the fact that they understand nervous homeowners and really try to make things as easy as possible. The pool turned out exactly as we had planned. It is beautiful and something we will enjoy for many years.
