Description of Work: replanted several trees the builder provided that were going to be to big where they were planted, added 4 crepe myrtles, and three bushes, installed two trellis's

Description of Work: Stevens Landscape Services provided me with a hand written itemized bid to create numerous planting beds with plants and shrubs and lay sod. There were no high end futuristic pictures or landscape architectural drawings of the proposal. I provided them with a drawing of what I wanted and where I wanted it. The project got started around the first of February. The weather conditions weren't the best. The work was subbed out to another contractor who Stevens used a lot (not uncommon for busy contractors). Concurrently I had an irrigation system installed by another contractor. Stevens' subs worked well with them locating spray heads and pipe runs. Budget constraints limited the plantings Stevens suggested. The subbed out sod installation didn't go so well. Dormant sod came from 2 different grass farms. One of the sod sources grew in fine. I'm still struggling to get the other major source to grow after 6 months. I have to do a bit of leveling with topsoil and/or sand that wasn't done during the prep stage. Weeds would not respond to weed killer under 60 degrees. They came back to haunt me when it warmed up. I was impressed with the sub's work ethic. They did what I asked and more than I expected in some areas. Because of the subs I didn't see Stevens much. Stevens was available by phone if there were issues to resolve. Stevens was easy to work with and accommodating to changes. I would recommend Stevens (Stevens' subs) for your landscaping needs.

Description of Work: Everything they did looks great. All the plants they selected are growing well two months after planting. They listened to feedback during the project and didn't leave until I was satisfied.

Description of Work: Replaced all freeze damaged plants, removed an old tired vegetable garden, leveled the ground around my pool equipment and improved the drainage. Went well, it turned out even better than I expected.

Description of Work: My property consists of two lots that join each other in the back and the front yard of one house. None of the area had ever been landscaped or cared for. I had a designer prepare a master plan for my ideas, then put it out for bids to 3 companies. I specified a detailed bid that named materials/labor costs for each category of service needed: Ron was the only one who submitted this type of information. When changes had to be made to accommodate my budget, he readily assisted me and recalculated his bid. He was very responsive to my concerns, Honestly, I know I drove him crazy sometimes because I am so obsessive A small bulldozer had to be used to clean and level the lots. Although I had an existing drainage system, many of the drains boxes had to be relocated. Extensive walkways bordered with steel edging, flagstone patios, both cemented in (masonry) and in granite gravel, top soil/mulch, rock flower bed borders, some trash hauling, etc. He was at the job most of the time. When he was not there, he phoned to say where I could reach him and when he would be onsite. He did not have anything to do with plants or planting. I wanted to do that myself. After a very heavy rain, some adjustment had to be made in the drain boxes and granite granite levels. He was at my yard within 1-2 days to fix it. As you can see, I am very happy with his performance.

Description of Work: STEVEN'S LANDSCAPE SERVICES redid our beds and laid pathways with rock. They also put in a water feature.

Description of Work: He gave me good advice and was very helpful, even though he was not going to do the work. He said he had 27 years experience and discussed how the quality of landscaping timber has changed, due to the change in how they now process treated timber. Evidently the old system had a lot of arsenic in it, whereas the new process doesn't. BUT, he said it also doesn't last and warps in a short time compared to the older system. I'd recommend getting a quote if you're interested in updated your backyard. I will call him if we ever change to stone.
