Just was punctual, very professional. Explained to us what all was needed. Separated the quoted into "must haves" for safety reasons, and "nice to haves". This really helped us in identifying what work needed to be done now versus wait. We bought an older home so we are trying to bring everything up to code first and take care of any safety issues before anything else. I got 2 other electrical quotes and left voice mails with 2 other companies that never called back. Mister Sparky had the best price and I did not feel that they were pushy or upset because I did not commit rather away. I will be doing all the electrical work with them. More reviews to come after that work is complete.

I complained to the organization in a letter and got a call and voicemail from someone as I was flying out of the country. He did not say he would resolve anything, simply wanted me to call him. When I returned to the US 10 days later I called and was told he was out of office. I left a message and he never called me back. Par for the course.

The technician checked the breaker panel in my garage and found a disconnected wire. He reconnected it. This did not fix the problem. He then checked the outlets and light switches in the bathroom. He discovered a disconnected "neutral" wire. When he connected the loose wire to the other neutrals in the box, the lights came on. The technician called before he arrived and then arrived a few minutes early - that's good. He was neat and clean. He put on booties before coming in - that's good. He did the troubleshooting in a logical sequence and was efficient in everything he did. He knew what he was doing - good. He was in my home for about 20 minutes and offered me all available discounts. If I have another electrical problem, I'll call Mister Sparky.
Description of Work: The technician did troubleshooting to determine the cause of no power in my bedroom and bathroom - and fixed the problem quickly.

I had an electrical shortage. I called Mr Sparky for service. The guy came on time. I was charged $49 for appointment and $239 for diagnostic. To be told that an underground wire needs to be replaced. I was given 3 job estimates going from $3100 to $5000. I called another electrician he found the reason for the shortage which was a misconnected motor. And charged me $100. I think this is a rip off. I will definitely not recommend this service.

The woman on the phone told me point blank it would be 39.00. The tech arrived and had some silly list he used to tell me what they were going to charge me and he picked one and then told me if I didnt elect to have them do the service that day they would charge me 59.00 he went up on price because I decided not to have them do the work. All i was having them do was run an outlet to my garage and they wanted to charge me $1456.00 this isnt some crazy installation they just have ridiculous pricing... For what its worth I would walk... Do not recommend!

The service fee is to cover the cost of our licensed electrician getting to your home and evaluating the particulars of the job that you want done. I see two options that were quoted. The one that you mentioned for $1,456 that required excavation to hide the electrical conduit underground and the other for $389 to surface mount the dedicated circuit power closer to the breaker box. The call was handled quickly and professionally. The electricians arrived on time and in uniform and were very pleasant. However, I was shocked and stunned when they presented me with a cost of service estimate of almost $4000. It seems that my busted circuit breaker had morphed into a huge project requiring replacement of an electrical panel, installation of a whole house surge protector, and replacing the electrical ground wires outside. While the technicians seemed very skilled and knowledgable and were friendly and kind, I feel the company must require them to make "up-sales" on repair calls. I felt blindsided and decided to call another electrician for a "second opinion". I am actually undecided whether I would use this company again or not. I feel that they are competent and would do a good job, I just don't want the "up-sale".

I just learned how much of a rip off Mister Sparky is. NEVER use them for electrical work. They try to scare you into having much more work done than you need. A highly recommended competitor is doing the work I need done for less than half of what Mr. Sparky quoted for it. For all the work Mr. Sparky tried to push on me, they wanted three times what I need done is actually costing.

I am sincerely sorry that we left you with a poor perception of our company. Bottom line, what I took from your review of my company: 1. We use scare tactics 2. We are a rip off I see that we were out back in October of 2013 and just provided you and estimate only for a new hot tub circuit for right around $1500 dollars. That is a very respectable price for this type of work – if the contractor has licensed electricians, insurance, workers compensation insurance, full service company, year warranty. We also did a safety inspection which we do for our electrician’s safety and yours while onsite. Looks like we did note a few items that were in need of repairs and is typical in a home such is yours in Nottingham Country area. Great homes, well built, but a few years old. So in your case the electrician simply made you aware of those items and it’s your choice to fix or not fix. Looks like you had no ground present so that would be something that would give most electricians a concern that would be passed on to homeowner and could appear scary. I also see there was a comment card filled out and signed that you gave the technician the best scores possible on the comment card. So it seems like there was a lot lost in translation here – for that I am sorry. With that said, let me address the elephant in the middle of the room - electricians don’t become electricians because they are great communicators – they are craftsman first and communication is lifelong craft. Furthermore, no home owner wakes up excited about the possibility of seeing an electrician that day. It’s a grudge purchase. So sometimes it just doesn’t work out no matter how hard I try to please 100% of the market the first time. Yours statements in particular suggest that we are dishonest and unethical – which understandably to most, troubles me. The following is also factually true that co-exist with your statements: 1. Exclusively endorsed locally in Houston by Dave Ramsey 2. Angie’s List Super Service Award for Last 4 years, (only 5% of companies get this) 3. BBB award for Excellence and Distinction award for past 5 years 4. BBB Pinnacle Award for 2014 (only 1 company gets this) 5. Inc. 2013 Fastest growing company award 6. Our NPS (net promoter score) (3rd party administered survey used by fortune 500) is at same level as companies like Apple, American Express and Discount Tire 7. Our purpose is not scare tactics; we try to inform and educate clients about electrical issues but don’t insist on doing any of the repairs it’s totally up to the client. 8. “we are a rip off” (this would mean that the company charges a price that is over the price the average consumer will pay for the services we offer. If that were the case, we would not maintain the exponential growth we do year over year and also have greater than 50% of our customers being repeat and loyal clients. However, if you mean that Mister Sparky is priced higher than the price you are willing to pay, no one could argue that point and that is why we give all of our pricing upfront 9. We provided you with valuable information for free that you then took and found others to do cheaper. We are totally okay with this – all we care about is that your home is safe I have 100% satisfaction guarantee and some the best warranties and guarantees processes in the business. I really do put my money where my mouth is. Additionally I have a team of folks that call you right after your service call is complete to insure you were satisfied – before the technician is cleared for another call. If you answer no, then we immediately will commit all resources in my control to your issue right then which may include, getting technician back out to house and working directly with our support team to resolving issue – real time – not days or weeks later. Key point – we are calling you after the call to insure you are happy – not waiting for problems to come to us. So if you think about it, our technicians know that we are committed to our client being 100% taken care of by these processes. With that in mind, how much tolerance do you think there really is internally in our company culture for poor client experiences? Very little. Regardless of the above, at the end of the day, we are in the people business and sometimes things just don’t gel during the service call. I am sorry – at it’s my fault. I would love the opportunity to work directly with you directly and make this write for you. I wish you could have reached out to us when we quoted your repairs back in October if you had concerns. I'll start by saying they are not the cheapest company on the market. That being said they are great to work with. The electrician initially came out to discuss what our needs are and make recommendations. He was very courteous and on time. They gave us a written estimate that was guaranteed. The next day two electricians showed up ON TIME and were dressed and acted very professional. They worked all day and did a fantastic job. Even when I offered them easier ways to hang our outlets they insisted on taking a more time consuming route to make the job look more pleasing. Both technicians were very polite, professional and efficient. I would recommend this company to anyone. They consistently do great work and are very focused on customer satisfaction. Again, they are not the cheapest but you certainly get what you pay for.

I contacted Mister Sparky and spoke with Bob concerning electrical troubleshooting for my recently deceased mother's home in Houston. As a school teacher with no responsibilities during the summer, I am taking the lead in supervising repairs and updates in the home to prepare it for sale. I was told by Bob that my sister, who is the executor, had to be present for the work to be done. My sister is a busy executive in Houston and does not have the freedom to take days off to meet with electricians, painters, plumbers etc. She does great to write the checks for payment of services and we have not encountered this situation with any other provider. The lack of compassion and bureaucracy is an indicator of a company only willing to work for themselves and not be of service to their customer. My wish for the personnel of this company is to encounter this same situation when they lose a parent and perhaps change the way they treat potential customers.

The electrician was on time, did his work quickly and thoroughly, briefing me on the outcomes, giving me a tour of the services that were performed and proving a complete set of documentation on his visit. I am very pleased with the service.

My home is older and needed a new electrical panel. I kept postponing the replacement but was forced to make some decisions when a painting contractor cut/nailed five wires in the garage, causing sparking and "hot" surfaces on the oven inside my home as well as total loss of power to some appliances and the water heater. Sadly, the painting contractor could "see" the wiring but forgot the placement of the wires (after the wall was put-up) while working on a wall and hit the wires as described. Fortunately, he was not hurt, nor was I when he neglected to tell me about the incident, which I discovered that evening when the appliances weren't working. As expensive as this project turned-out to be, I am glad to have the upgrades now. I highly recommend using Matthew Arnold, the Mister Sparky representative/technician who walked me through the process. He and his team (Carlos and Jacob) were wonderful. The highest compliment that one employee can pay to another, in many instances, is to say that one's coworker has a great work ethic. I have worked since I was 17 years old, and I think that Matthew Arnold has a great work ethic. He really believes in safety and understands wiring, electrical hazards, etc. You will be offered three categories of pricing and can make choices based on your budget and preferences. Since I was in the middle of a huge problem in the garage that necessitated new roof, new walls, and ultimately, termite treatment, I didn't have a lot of time to learn about electrical contractors. I had taken the precaution, before beginning my home improvement projects, of hiring an inspector to go through the home so that subsequent contractors would not use "scare tactics" to create panic buying. Basically, Matthew's evaluation matched the inspector's report. I did buy the higher end of the services and products offered, mainly because I had postponed any work for two decades and was tired of looking at mismatched outlets, nonworking outlets and exhaust fans, etc., to the extent that I "splurged" and added some really nice products and services to my home. What I particularly like about Matthew is that he has been back to my home to fix a few problems that we did not catch during the final walk-through. In other words, I made a short punch list, and he was prompt to return and very courteous and friendly. I am finishing-up a breezeway repair now that will involve electrical at some point. I gave Matthew's name to the general contractor and will call Matthew when it's time to complete the overhead lighting. I feel confident that I will get a fair deal and may even discover that the hook-up of the items is covered in the cost of my contract. I haven't yet had time to check into that part of the process. Electricians are expensive. Yes, my neighbor's son, who helps with handyman projects and small repairs, could have beaten the price, but I wanted the security of professional work as well as a warranty. After seeing the charred scorch marks on my garage wall and taking cold showers because of the loss of power to the water heater, I was relieved to have the advice and services of professional electricians. I highly recommend Mister Sparky and Matthw Arnold.

Amazing to work with. Newly purchased 4 year old house. Lights just mysteriously quit working and the breaker would not reset. With absolutely no information to go on he found a light switch that had evidently been arcing since the house was built. He also identified an issue with the grounding of the house and corrected it in the same visit. We will absolutely use him again.
