Lou's Painting

The supervisor and crew were very good about paying attention to details and doing quality work. They found rotten pieces of wood on the house's trim that I had not noticed and replaced them all with more durable Hardi Plank. They used lumber which was suitable for ground contact to replace garage boards that had started deteriorating soon after the house was new; the replacements will last significantly longer. They did an excellent job of matching the original paint. They were always very punctual, professional and cleaned up after work. They were a real pleasure to work with. If I have another painting job I will call these fellows first.

They were very responsive and thorough. They kept their working areas clean and kept their employees safe when accessing high peaked roof lines. They then followed up a month later to make sure we were still happy with the work and then dropped off some of the products used so I could refinish a planter box that I forgot to include in the job scope. We knew we were paying a bit extra with Lou's Painting, but we got what we paid for in their workmanship.

The work went smoothly. Mike helped me pick colors, which I am not very good at. All of Mike's recommendations were perfect. The house sold after the first showing!

Excellent. We have had a number of contractors working on the house this year and Lou's Painting was the best so far. Mike was always professional and punctual. He explained the entire process and had lots of excellent ideas. His whole crew were always punctual, polite and professional. At the end of each day they left the place cleaner than they had found it. The quality of the work they did is outstanding. The house looks fantastic.

Mike McKay was unclear of start date after July 10, 2014 estimate and bid. We spoke a few times, and finally firmly confirmed August 11th with work to last about 3 days. Although he was the most expensive bid, we selected him because we thought he would really get the job done properly. Also, because he said he was insured and bonded; and he contributes to workmen's compensation, however, he never showed proof. We also selected his company because he has a good rating on Angie's list. He called August 7th to reschedule for the following week, August11th, because he wanted to work another interior job. It did not rain that week of scheduling, this was for his convenience. We explained that my husband and I had both already taken off of work for the week he had previously confirmed, but he still would not accommodate the original scheduled date. This was very costly to us. He did start on Aug. 18th and only had two workers for the work week. He personally does not do the work for the most part. There are several items listed on the contract, and that we had spoke about in detail, that he did not complete or finish properly. It actually took him 5 days to do the work he did do, and really needed more time to finish the contract properly. Also, when he power washed, some of the spray came through the door cracks, and the debris got all over our bedroom carpet and blankets that were in the interior of the door. He also did not clean the debris completely on the fascia boards. Day 4 of the work week of the 5 day work week, the job took a substantial downhill turn. He was difficult to talk with when he came by the job stating that he was not going to adhere to the contract on the contract regarding the front door procedures to offset expenses he did NOT plan on. This was the first we had been told about extra expenses. When my husband and I both tried to speak with him, he either ignored us or would loudly talk over us. He and his workers were allowed to utilize our home's bathroom facility, and I found "him" cleaning dirty rags in my bathroom sink on day four. I was not pleased. What little work he did do on the front door left heavy mess in our interior entry way and a broken door knob. He did pick up the yard at the end of each work day, which was very good for our HOA regulations and that part was done properly. He did not do the exterior part properly on any door on the home or the garage. He also painted over garage door lock and hardware, which cannot be removed. We did subtract $419.50 from the original contract, which is not any where close to the cost it will take to cover the expenses to complete the doors properly. He also did not properly prepare the ledils above the windows or garage door per contract. The paint job has some over spray, but overall the work in that area is good. The caulking looks thick and time will tell if it will hold up. The little stain he did put on the door is left with residue all over the door window, that we will have to scrap off. His workers did a good job on painting and changing the fasica boards. But once again we will see over time if this holds in place. The gutters were put back on, however, bent in a place in front to make flush with the house' structure. He works the two men hard and they were professional good painters, however, the job needed more workers. Mr. McKay is and was demanding, and bullying toward us starting mid day on the 4th work day. He did state that he felt he had under bid the job, and would not complete the front door per the contract. We would not recommend Mr. McKay or his company. He presents himself as promising too much, and does not have a good sense of honesty.

A wonderful experience, due to relocation we needed to get our house ready for sale within 1 week. Mike worked to accomodate our schedule. Workman were v. experienced (painted surfaces had straight lines/no brush strokes etc, caulked lines smooth and even), matched paint, saw a need, asked and performed the work. They were also courteous, cheerful during a stressful time. At the end of each day Mike did a walk thru and the house was cleaner than when they had arrived. One of the best painting companies I have worked with. Our house looks great!

Easy to deal with. He takes the time to listen to what you want and to explain in detail how he intends the job to go. He stays on top of the job personally and sweats the details. I have recommended him to friends and will continue to do so.

Mike's crew is exceptional for timeliness, quality of job and overall professionalism. Painted exterior trim in March again did a wonderful job. I recommend them to anyone.

His responsiveness was fine, and he came out and looked at the work. I did not use him because his price of $4200 was high; it was two times higher than the company I ended up using. I would not consider getting another quote from him in the future.

The overall work was fantastic. They did a great job. They were clean. They did a great job in a great quality perspective. The price was a little bit more than the other quotes but it was worth the money. They were very professional. They basically did what they said and they were problem free. I actually got them through referral and for my knowledge this company does very good advertising and most of the work that they get is through referrals and offers. It is a high quality company and it's worthy of consideration.

Mike was very professional and helpful. Was very detail oriented. The work was excellent. I highly recommend Mike and his team.

Mike worked with us on the timing of the job (so I could keep our toddler out of the house to avoid any fumes), the type of paint (loc VOC to avoid any lingering fumes for the safety of our toddler), and the duration of the job (they completed all the work in one day as promised to minimize the disruption to our schedules). Great people and very nice work. Will use again soon for more paint jobs around the house. They were not the cheapest estimate; in fact, they were the highest. But I had the best feeling about the quality of work we'd receive from them.

I really did not have anything fancy done just some basic painting. I feel they did a good quality job. I did not see much room for improvement. I am not exactly sure what we had paid. My husband actually paid the guy who did the work and he is not one to just throw money away, so I am assuming the price was affordable.
