Overall, it went very well. The workers were on-time and professional, and everyone seemed to be very attentive to making sure I got what I wanted. The film was installed perfectly, and it looks great. When Carroll returned to install the solar screens, he made sure to ask if I liked the film and asked me several times to call if I had any concerns. The solar screens that they installed have taken some getting used to (it makes a big difference!), but I really love the effect they give our interior. However, they do not quite look like what I expected on the outside. When I got the estimate, Carroll described them as having a white cross-piece, so they would look like our windows did without screens (double-hung), but they don't have that. They are just black, and while they look fine, it isn't exactly what I had envisioned. This isn't really a problem, but it is just not quite what I expected. The only thing that is somewhat problematic for me is the way the cost was calculated. In my rather extensive discussions with Carroll, we worked out several options for how many windows I was going to do, and how much film. The price of things changed so much from one little change to another. It gave me the feeling that these were almost numbers picked out of the air. From one scenario to another the cost varied by hundreds of dollars. In the end, we reached a number that seemed fair to both of us, but it did not leave me with a sense of confidence about way the price was calculated.
Description of Work: I wanted solar screens for one side of our house (5 windows), and tint film on the front (9) windows and door. Since I was completely clueless about what this might involve, Carroll came over and spent almost an hour measuring and talking about the various options for doing this, and gave me a quote. He was very professional and thoroughly helpful, giving me enough information and samples so I could file a permit with our home owners association. The solar screens were for windows with arches and odd shapes, and had to be custom-ordered. So, Carroll and another worker came one day (the day after I called, after getting the permit from the h.o.a.) to measure the windows more precisely for the screens, and 5 days later they were delivered and installed. The film was installed the same day as the measuring for the screens. It almost seemed like they were all just waiting around for me to call them. The installation of the film and screens (on 2 separate days) took less than 2 hours (each day), and the workers cleaned up after themselves completely.
