Callen Roofing was very easy to work with and provided an estimate that was very reasonable with materials and labor. Other estimates we received were a lot more money and out of line with material cost and labor. There was more damage on sheathing than expected but they honored their original bid. The work was done in a very timely manner. I would recommend them to anyone.

My original contact with Thomas Davis went very well. He was nice and professional. The only issue I had was that they used a sub-contractor to tar the roof. They were a little sloppy. One of my skylights was broken and tar was smeared on the rest of the skylights. My new a/c unit was scratched by roofing material that had been placed on it. Thomas came back out to survey the damage and offered to replace all of my skylights with ones that better than the original. He also had another guy come out to clean up all of the little bits of tar that had been left behind. He also gave me a significant discount for my trouble. It is not the company that I have a problem with, it was the sub-contractors. I was told by Callen that they will not be using them again. Callen definitely fulfilled my needs.

I LIKE THE NEW ROOF, BUT IT WAS THE FACT THAT TOMMY AND THE FOREMAN(WHO DOES NOT SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH) DID THE ROOF LIKE THEY WANTED IT AND IGNORED WHAT MY HUSBAND AND I HAD ASKED FOR. BUT OVERALL I LIKE THE FACT THAT IT IS NEW AND LOOKS GOOD AND I AM RELIEVED ITS DONE!

Overall went well. Crew arrived on schedule and completed on schedule. Had an issue with some bees that established a hive in front soffet. Some miss-communication with crew and sales person regarding location of bee hive but crew waited to finish job while beekeeper removed it. Had a few spots of tar like substance leak from patio cover to patio. I was also told that they would provide some spare (matching) shingles for future repair but they never did.

They came out promptly, performed the service, and I haven't had a problem since. When it does come time for a new roof I will be calling them to do it.

Overall it was a great experience. They were professional and very polite. They did a good job and really seemed to know what they were doing. I had to wait to get them out here to do the repair, but they had prior jobs to do before mine, and since my roof was not leaking I didn't mind waiting. They were worth the wait.

It went wonderfully. Their professionalism and their willingness to work with me were things that stood out about them. It rained for a few days and we were on vacation where it was nice weather. He was really nice about rescheduling and cleaning up after themselves. He didn't think that they had the check but he didn't bother me, so I was really pleased with them. I would consider using them again in the future.

Floyd and his crew always go above and beyond what you expect. They are punctual, honest and friendly. I would not hesitate to use them again.

They tore off the old roof and lay decking, covered it up with composition. The garage is detached and the back of the house has the same siding that was on the garage and had rotted in places, so they replaced that with hardy plank. They also painted it to match the color. It went very well and the bid was made prior o hurricane Ike. Although I would suspect that there was a problem with securing materials etc. after hurricane Ike, they honored the price that they quoted. The house withstood the hurricane and there was no damage to the roof, but they honored their commitment. It looks good and my wife and I are very pleased. They had a problem during the construction, they had mismeasured the roof and had to go and find some more material, but that did not interfere with the scheduling. I thought that the price I paid was fair and I was pleased with the way they did the operation. I thought that they did a technologically a better job at the hardy plank siding. As I understood, the other contractors were going to rip off the old siding, leaving you with the studs. They were going to put the vapor bearer on top of the studs and were going to the hardy plank siding. They did not do that and instead they put the vapor bearer down and put plywood base over the studs and then put the hardy plank on the base and the result was good. They were responsive and did not leave me hanging in terms or having to call them and brought the material as scheduled. The crew showed up as scheduled and I had no problem. They pointed out defects and handled everything except one thing that I had a contractor cut the base of the siding boards many years ago. They stood there and pointed out at what the problem was. I did have some access in the attic after they left, but it took about 6 months before the critter showed up and I have no idea what it was. I did find places that I thought might provide access to the attic that hadn’t been sealed up, but I sealed those places again with a wire mesh. I never spoke to them about it because of the time difference and that problem seems to have gone. They did manage to dirty my rain gutter with some tar operation and I had to more or less deal with the crew leader in terms of the manner in which they were handling material from the ground to the roof and also the stripping off the old roofing. They also ended up with material in my neighbor’s yard which I and one of their people went over and cleaned it up. I made sure that there was nothing to offend my neighbor, but I was the one that had to initiate that.

As far as the installation of the new roof, the job went very well and the results look very good. The only problems were in the finish-out, a lack of attention to final details that would have made a better visual impact and a few problems with flashing/gutters that needed further work. In several spots I had to improve the flashing to prevent water from hitting windows, cover bare wood and prevent channeling down the side of the house. Seven window screens were torn and never repaired. The turbines wobble. I found about 100 nails in the grass, flower bed and rain gutters.

The overall experience was excellent. They came early in the morning as they said and finished the work by afternoon. They cleaned up after themselves. They were here before 9:00 in the morning.

As stated I had twelve shingles blow off my roof, I had the shingles and I had extras (new ones) from a previous addition if needed. I had a gentleman come out and look at my roof, he told me that they had a $250 minimum, but he couldn't see them charging me that much due to minimal amount of work and since I had all of the material. But he would check with the owner, and get back with me. While waiting several days for a return call, I had a gentleman drive by and offer to replace them for $100, but I refused, since I wanted to keep my business for the locals here in town. Also, this is something I could have done myself, but it's a two story and I don't have a tall enough ladder. Next thing I know they put my shingles back on while I was at work and sent me a bill for $250, after calling them and telling them that they were suppose to call me back first and could I get a cheaper price, all they had to say was that was a great deal and they couldn't do any better.

I am very happy about their performance.

He's great. We had a leak in the office and I called him and he came out and fixed the roof without charging us. He's been doing it for a long time and is a really nice guy. Everybody likes him. When they take the roof off they always clean up very well afterwards.

Anytime you have to invest this kind of money in home upkeep and repair, it is nontrivial. However, we have just survived Hurricane Ike without a drop of water penetrating our home or garage and without any wind damage to our house so, all our improvements, earlier this summer, were worth every penny. This was a big project. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the crews that worked on our house. They did a beautiful job installing the Hardiplank and rebuilding our garage. They reinforced the roof support in the attic (the ridge was sagging) and put in new energy efficient windows, upstairs. The new roof looks wonderful and along with the new paint job makes our house look fantastic. Our kids are complaining that it is "cold" upstairs now(summer in Texas) so the new windows are making a real difference in our energy use this summer. I feel like I got very good advice from Tommy about the style of siding, roof color, the windows, even the house paint color. He always gave me a range of options and suggestions when I asked him and I am very happy with the decisions we made. It is always disconcerting to have strangers working around your house, but all the crews who worked here (siding/windows/construction, painting, roofing, gutters) were polite, considerate, and informative. They cleaned up every day. They did an excellent job. The foreman of the siding/construction crew was a true craftsman. He had to do some creative detail work on the soffits and fascia which came out beautifully. Our next door neighbor is in the construction business and he made a point (unasked) to tell us, several times, how impressed he was with their work. I checked Callen's references with the various building suppliers beforehand. They all, without pause, affirmed that Callen was current on their bills and praised the owners' personal qualities. I hoped for the former and was pleased and surprised to hear the later. While I was in a local paint store, looking at paint chips and asking questions about paint quality and specs, the proprietor asked me who was going to be painting our house. When I told him, he began to tell me what a good outfit Callen was. It was enormously reassuring to have these kinds of unsolicited testimonials from other people in the industry. I've never experienced that before. Even after the job was complete and paid for, Tommy came by to help install a new door handle on our front door and then he adjusted the fit of a new entry door on the garage. I had not been unhappy with it, he just felt like it could be even better. If I ever need additional work done, I am going to call him because I feel like he would direct us to some good help. There are going to be lots of folks in need of new roofs or roof repair because of Hurricane Ike. I cannot recommend this company too highly. We had a great experience. Who knew their work would be tested so soon?

Noticed water stains on the bathroom ceiling. Called Callen and someone came out the next day. Three days later it was fixed. Great job, no mess.

It went great. He even came back a second time at my request for another minor issue and fixed it free of charge. I will hire him to do my whole roof when needed.

Contacted Callen Roofing about repair estimate. Owner Floyd came out to look at the problem, he was very informative and helpful. He did not immediately see a problem after taking a look at the roof where I stated the leak must be. He then did some minor caulking, at no charge, then told me to call if what was done didn't solve problem. It did not, then after several attempts at setting another appointment his contractors came out and made a successful repair.

They showed up right away, gave me a reasonable bid, promised to do the work the following week, but I haven't heard from them since. I have to choose yes or no to one of your questions, but I really don't know if they do a good job since they never showed up.

Our experience was wonderful. The rep was on time, friendly, and very professional. He found the reason for the leak, repaired it, and charged me less than he originally stated because it did not take as long. This was our second good experience with this company.

The owner with 30+ years of experience in roofing, Floyd, came by to estimate the repair of a minor roof leak and new gutters. He measured the gutters himself. He fixed the roof at no charge right there and then. The charge for the gutters was very reasonable. We have received quotes from $1000 to $1800 for the same work. The job was performed in half a day by Floyd and another worker. There was one down spout that he had to come back the next day for. I offered to pay but he would not accept the payment until all the work was completed and to the customer's satisfaction. The work was excellent and they left the area very clean.

He was very prompt in getting it done, the price was very reasonable, and he's just a great guy. I'd recommend him to anybody.

Callen Roofing did a great job. The roof turned out exactly how we expected it to. They used good material and we've had no problems like leaking or anything. They cleaned up well everyday. No nails or shingles were left laying around. They the helpful and polite. The roof looks great.

They did a great job. They maintained a very clean work area. They are also cheaper than most companies. They also did a lot of extra things that I didn't expect. I would recommend them to others, definitely.

Callen Roofing has very knowledgeable employees and did a very good job with installing the new gutters. You can not see the seams, which really impressed me. The workers made sure not to leave a mess at all, and they were helpful and quick. The gutters are holding up well, and I haven't had any problems with them. I feel that they knew what they were doing.
