I can not stress enough how much of a mistake it would be for you to hire Dave Wallace with H3 Custom homes and Renovations (also known as Wallace Construction/Renovation, he changes the name of the business depending on what you are looking at). This whole process with him has been an absolute disaster and nightmare and I really wish I had not hired him. We hired him in January to build a place for my dad to live. He originally said he could be done by the end of March but due to weather that wasn't going to happen. We got an extension for dad to stay at his home that he sold until April 5 and Dave promised he would be done by then. He even said he would put dad in a hotel if not. Well, multiple times subs would not show up, Dave himself would not show up, there would be no explanation or some lame excuse. When it became evident he wasn't going to finish, Dad paid $1500 to rent his old home till the end of April. Dave again swore he would be done , completely, by April 25. He "gave us his word as a Christian". But the delays continued and two weeks before the deadline, there was still only drywall. I expressed concern as dad could not move in with me due to handicap accessibility issues and Dave again swore everything would be done. We had another contractor come out and look at the place and he said there was no way Dave would be finished in time and after looking at our draws he said it looked like Dave had under bid by at least $26k and that he probably was not able to get subs out because he couldn't pay them. This was before lumber went up as we paid it in advance to prevent that. When we confronted Dave he became angry and said he didn't underbid us he just didn't overbid because "I'm a Christian and I don't like to rip people off". On April 20 I asked Dave if he would be finished by the 25th and he again "gave his word" he would be and I told him we had no more time and he said he understood. On April 25, my dad had to move in with no carpet, no kitchen countertops or sink, no bathroom sink and no hot water because the hot water heater, which was brand new, would not heat water. We had run out of time and dad could not stay at his old house anymore. Dave knew this and even as late as April 23 was still swearing everything, including regrading the yard, would be done by the 25th. The plumber told me that he would not come out to fix the water heater or install the kitchen sink because Dave had not paid him for any of his work and owed him $7500. We had paid for all of it already. Dave claims you will have a home warranty for a year but my dad went for a week and a half without hot water until we finally paid out of pocket to have it fixed . It has been 2 months now and we have a major drainage issue and the yard has not been finished . My dad has to walk through standing water and mud with his walker to get to my garage to get his car because Dave didn't put in the driveway and it's a muddy mess to get to dad's garage. The gutters weren't installed and the building wasn't painted. The water main was placed incorrectly inside the garage and we have to pay to have it fixed so that if there's a leak it doesn't flood the garage. The window over the kitchen sink (we had to pay to have someone else come and finish out the kitchen) is not centered with the sink (we could not fix this because Dave did not measure ahead of time when he bought the kitchen cabinets and so the hole for the sink was not centered correctly). There is another window where the dishwasher was supposed to be but the window sill is below the level of the counter so we can't place a dishwasher there. The doors need to be trimmed because they won't close. He never finished out the electrical for the sump pump so there is an extension cord running into my garage for that. The garage door was not the right size and the framing needed to be closed up, as well as repairing the garage door because one of his subs tried to open it while it was locked. Dave agreed to reimburse me $400 to have it repaired and never did. Now he has admitted he doesn't have any money. He has an LLC and in TX, the law requires you to keep enough money in your LLC to conduct business and he has admitted via text he has not. We have caught him in multiple lies. My favorite is that he couldn't get a skid steer from Home Depot because there is a waiting list but when I called they said there's no such thing. My other favorite is that the plumber told me that Dave told him we had not paid him anything which is why he couldn't pay him. We also found out from the people who put the garage door in that they had not heard from Dave since 2013 after they told him he had to pay for everything up front yet Dave had told us he uses them all the time. The really frustrating thing is, I had read the other negative review on here, as well as a couple he had on his facebook page. He had what sounded like reasonable explanations for his side of it and he comes across as competent and likable and we had a neighbor who had used him several years ago so we decided to go ahead and use him. After that, I noticed that Dave removed the ability to write reviews on his facebook page and he has also recently removed the ability to comment . I believe he did this because we gave him until June to fix everything and then we are suing and I told him I would be writing very detailed reviews as well as going to the news. The other gentleman who wrote a negative review on here has almost an identical story as ours and I'm kicking myself for giving him a chance! He will give excuse after excuse for why things aren't done. He also will tell you he has no control over the subs or that he doesn't have anyone available. What contractor can't get subs? Ones that don't pay them! He will not give you a list of his subs either even though legally he is supposed to. He has a sick mother and wife and is using them as an excuse for not finishing the job. He has never even picked up a hammer and has had other people do the work so this isn't even a plausible reason for why nothing is being finished. RUN don't walk away from this guy unless you want a disaster on your hands!

I really don’t like leaving negative reviews, but one year into my garage project, I have finally run out patience with getting Dave Wallace (owner of H3) to honor his word and his supposed warranty to finish and fix the disaster of what he calls a garage. The entire process of working with Dave Wallace has been extremely frustrating & one of the worst if not the worst experience I have had with any contractor in my 25 years of home ownership. I do not recommend Dave or his company to anyone. My status now with him is that he is now refusing to answer the phone, return voice mail messages or texts. He hasn’t returned a call or text since Dec 20th, 2019, it is now March 5th. While Dave was nice and responsive to getting things initially started, it went downhill from there. I soon learned that he has horrible communications skills. Once he started receiving more of the money, he had more and more excuses for why things weren't going on schedule and why all the work performed was sub-standard. It was also never “his fault”, but always his sub-contractor’s fault. Here is a list of things that went wrong and things that 1 year later he still hasn't fixed. (He started the work in March 2019): 1> The worst thing is my building and roof eaves leaks, and he has every excuse why he can't/won't fix it. The roof eaves leak on both sides of my roof depending on which way the wind is blowing while it is raining. I also have 2 windows installed and they both leak every time it rains. He has stopped responding to me as I continue to try to get these fixed. 2> The new concrete has serious and deep cracks in over 10 places in the driveway, one crack goes 30 feet right to left and through a relief cut, so pretty deep and he won’t even address these cracks but “says” I have a warranty and to just “call him” if they get worse. He won’t return calls, so what good is that warranty? 3> His crew also drove a steel tracked Bobcat tractor in a circle on my freshly poured concrete which dug holes in it. So now I have chunks taken out of my driveway in a semi-circle, my new concrete now looks old and is damaged with no way to effectively repair it. All Dave said was that he was “sorry”. 4> His crew repeatedly drove over the grass and crushed my sprinkler lines 4 different times in multiple places, he did eventually fix these but very frustrating to get him to fix them. 5> He seriously underestimated how much dirt he was going to need to bring in to go around the new driveway and foundation. I had to argue with him for several days that he needed to bring more in (at his expense) because it was in the contract. So, while I did get him to bring in 10 more yards, it still was not enough. My yard probably still needed 10-15 more yards of dirt which he refused to bring. I will have to address additional landscaping this spring on my own. At the “end” of the actual building phase of the garage, Dave kept begging me to give him his final payment even though I still had leaks and I still had other issues here and there. He gave me “his word as a man” that if I gave him the final payment, he would get my issues fixed. I shook his hand and took him at his word, and I gave him my final payment in July 2019. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen him since. He initially returned my calls asking for updates on a repair status but he always had an excuse as to why he couldn’t come and fix the leaks. The last time I have heard from him was on Dec 20th. To make a long review short. I can not recommend Dave Wallace or his company for any type of work. I would post photos and videos of my issues if I could here, but I can’t, so please take my word for it, stay away from Dave and H3 Custom Homes and Wallace Renovations.

Really well. Called Dave after a brief but severe windstorm in my subdivision to assess roof damage. I honestly didn't know if I should file an insurance claim or not. I received three quotes for repair and Dave assured me that the damages would be far less than a deductible. Within a week he had replaced the missing shingles and they matched perfectly. I could not tell he was there. Also trusting enough to bill me for his services which I really appreciated.

Dave Wallace (owner) came out the same day that I called and asked for a quote. I explained that we were moving out and the home would be vacant. We needed the house painted and new carpet laid. Within 48hours he had a quote back to me and we were amazed. We had 4 other people quote just paint and H3 was about the same as the others....BUT WITH CARPET!!! So we were out of the home that Sunday and Dave started work I think that Monday. Within a week our home is completed ABOVE what we expected. He did things above and beyond what we asked him to. They were easy to reach and always returned calls. This was our first experience with any contracting company but after reading other reviews I know that this company stands above the norm. Thanks H3 for a job well done!!
