Reliant Air Conditioning

We had Reliant come out to perform the standard inspection and tune-up on our A/C system at the beginning of the summer. They showed up on time, were professional and courteous, and completed the work as expected. No recommendations for additional parts or service were made. Exactly 1 week later however, our A/C stopped working in the middle of the night. I called Reliant at 6am and spoke with their answering service, who indicated that someone would be out that morning. I stayed home from work and watched the thermostat start to climb. A few hours later when I had not seen or heard from Reliant I called back and it was clear they had not received any message from their answering service and it was as if I hadn't called at all. The earliest they would be able to come out to check our A/C would be 48 hours later. It was already 85 degrees inside our house and it was still early in the day so waiting was not an option. I found their lack of urgency surprising - they had just inspected our system a week before and didn't seem at all concerned that it had now quit completely. I ended up calling another provider who came out to fix it the same day. Although we were satisfied with Reliant's initial work, we were very disappointed in the follow-up. The whole point of getting our A/C inspected and tuned up was to avoid having a break down and when it did break down so soon after their visit, we would have expected them to promptly return and figure out what they missed.

My inspection and maintenance service call became a repair service for my electrical line because my AC was not working. The technician patiently tested the wires both from the groundfloor and climbed in my hot attic to locate the bad wire. He was sweating a lot when he finished fixing everything. I am glad to pay the extra service fee and was so happy with his work and professionalism that I paid for the annual tuneup maintenance agreement too. I felt like I got a great deal for everything the company offered me.

They were on time for the estimates and the installations. I was told what they would do and they did it. Cleaned up after themselves. This is the second house they installed a new heating/AC unit for me. I've used them twice and will use them again.

Of the 6 local HVAC providers contacted and from whom esitmates were obtained, Reliant Air Conditioning was by far the most professional, punctual, value oriented, and dedicated to providing service that not only met, but exceeded our expectations. Their staff took the time and exercised the due diligence to determine and verify exactly what was wrong with my existing system. Then and only then they provided us every reasonable alternative to repair or replace. While strictly from a price perspective Reliant was not the cheapest long term we believe they provide the best vaule by far. Based this and the fact their explanations were gimmick free, we opted for a complete system replacement. Reliant the worked with our schedules to insure timely installation of the replacement system selected. All appointments were kept on time, work areas were left equal to or better than the condition upon their workers arrival. The entire staff is courteous and open to explain why and what is being done. They are not high pressure, and take a consulative approach in dealing with a customer. They do not rely on offers of unrealistic warranties, or promote the sale of gimmick or other non value add ons. Excellent follow through and follow up as well.

They came out for a spring inspection and found that a piece of equipment in the system was or had gone bad but it mostly affected the air conditioning. The condenser coil. We had to fix that before the summer even started and it was under warranty. I have to say, we were very glad because there have been 4 or 5 people on our street this summer that had theirs go out in the middle of the heat. I'm a happy home owner. I thought it was a fair price. I don't have any complaints about them, I just don't know them well enough yet.

Found a motor leaking oil and burning on a circuit. Recommended a replacement of the motor and the board. Both were done quickly and efficiently after a short wait for parts to come in. Reliant was very unspecific on arrival time for both the inspection and repair. In the future I would prefer a 4 hour window . Overall inspection and repair were both done very professionally.

She worked on the units and communicated to me that there were no major issues, she wrote only the recommendation of more frequent filter changes, but that the units were in good shape.

I booked our appointment on-line through Angie's list for the afternoon of the 28th, since we had an appointment with an electrician that morning. However, the technician called us bright and early on the morning of the 28th, around 7 or 7:30AM and said he was on his way. We had Reliant back out on July 1st when we experienced issues with our air conditioning. My husband took off work to meet the technician during a range of time. But Reliant called that morning and said they were on the way and my husband had to take extra time off from work to meet the technician. My issue is that they did not come during the appointment times and this was somewhat inconvenient for us.

They came on time and answered our questions and I would use them again. The price was reasonable and they were nice. They did everything we requested and the coupon was good.

FIRST OF ALL I WAS GOING BY WHAT MY WIFE TOLD ME WHEN I LEFT A GOOD REPORT. The work was on the upstairs a/c which is hardly ever used so it went unchecked. Air conditioner's drain in attic was stopped up and water was draining into emergency pan and draining outside. The a/c drain was obviously stopped up. I wasn't home when worker came and he worked hard but did not do what we needed. The ad said they would flush the drain and make sure it was open. He did clean the outside units an took the P trap off under the sink. HE DID NOT CLEAN THE DRAIN. The wife was impressed with his politeness and seemingly knowledge. The attic was very hot and he chose not to do anything with the drain. A shame you can't trust people to do what they know needs done. I took the (drain plumbing) loose where it meets the plumbing and it was nearly 100% clogged. I wonder if he would like some man to come to his house and have the lady of the house trust him and leave it this way. He should have said he couldn't do it or something. I am 75yrs old and I am doing it. He said our drain pan was not good and would replace it for several hundred dollars. I think what anyone would think at this point. The bait and switch ad to service the a/c in order to give an expensive bid almost worked. I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY ON A BET ANYMORE. To be honest I have not contacted the company and told them this but Angie would like feedback on their contractors. I have pics if anyone needs proof but they won't paste here.

After inspection was performed they determined we had a leak in the coil. My fiance was present at the time and he said the tech was very professional and thorough when it came to answering all of his questions. He was also punctual arriving within 5 minutes of the agreed time.

They did that and then was maybe what 400 dollars worth of work. They did really good but they didn't come out the first time they said they were. I had to reschedule it. He was an A.

I purchased the $69 big deal for both units and was only able to schedule the appointment 2 weeks in advance - due to time of year and lots of emergency callouts, and mine was not an emergency. I select the afternoon slot - any time after noon. I was disappointed when i called that day to get a more accurate time of arrival and was told after 4pm, due to all of the emergency calls. They arrived at 6pm. Very polite and professional - wore booties, asked if i'd like them to clean out the drains with bleach, which i provided them with and they did. One unit, which is only 2 years old need 1 pound of refrigerant, which totally surprised me as it's fairly new. The older unit needed several pounds of freon, which i opted not to do as it's old and we need to replace it (it's an upstairs unit and we rarely use the upstairs part of our house). They left after about 1 1/4 hours. And this is when we had a problem. As the evening progressed, the house got warmer and warmer and while the air con was running continuously the temp crept up from 78 to 82 by 8.30. So i called reliant around 8.45 and their on call person had the on call tech call me back. I described the problem, but he said he was tied up until around 3am on emergency calls and would report this to the office so that they could send someone around the next day. As you can imagine i was not happy, as it was working fine before the service. Luckily the tech, before hanging up the phone, asked me to take a look and see if the outside unit was running. Bingo ! It was not. He then directed me to find the electrical box, and i found that the tech who had actually performed the service, had left the plug for the box lying on top of the box and had not plugged it back in ! Easy enough to plug back in. Thank goodness the on call tech had me check such a basic thing, but pretty unacceptable to leave the electric box unplugged. For someone who knows nothing about air con units i would not have thought to check something that simple. Anyway, we were saved the discomfort of a night in a hot house and another wait the next day for someone to come and fix the problem. So i'm kind of on the fence about the whole experience and not sure if I will use Reliant again.

Good service call. On time and walked me through the details of what he was doing and the shape of my ac unit.

I scheduled A/C service and waited whole day. Nobody turned up. I called them in the morning to confirm and they said they will call and come. Unprofessional jerks.

Experience was great; I have nothing but good things to say. Technician called 30 minutes before they arrived. Jose was fantastic! Very polite and courteous. He performed the tune-up as promised, and then at my request added one pound of refrigerant as I felt the unit was cooling but just not quite keeping up during the day. He told me the refrigerant pressures looked good as is but acknowledged that the copper line-set for my house was a long run and that as a result the system may need to have a little more refrigerant than normal. The unit has been keeping up much better since his visit. The other thing I was very pleased with is that he did not try and push any additional services on me. As I mentioned above, the additional refrigerant was added at my request, and this was the only cost to me beyond the $69 I paid for the coupon. I was very impressed and felt like this was an HVAC company I could actually trust. They will be my HVAC service company moving forward, without a doubt.

Added coolant to Unit #2. Unit #1 was 3 lbs low so they searched for the source of the leak which was inconclusive. Elected not to add coolant to this 15 yr old system. They schedule an appointment to quote a replacement for unit #1. Overall, I received the services I expected.

No complaints. The service was performed at the price quoted and in a timely manner. The technician took pains to keep from tracking debris through the house. They were courteous and professional.
