He was not the lowest bid but had the most detailed bid. The new roof is hail resistant and looks beautiful. John was willing to complete the paperwork required for a TVLB loan. Roof has been through many storms and is doing well. Work included a thermal barrier. It helped during the recent hot summer.
Description of Work: Work involved removal of a clay tile roof and complete roof replacement.

Thomas was the person that did the work for me. He came onsite and gave me a review. I wasn't ready to have the work done yet. It was a couple of months later that I contacted them to schedule the work. They were very professional and prompt in calling me back. Jon had other jobs scheduled out of town and assured me as soon as he got back he would work me in ASAP. He kept in touch with me and scheduled the job around my availability. He was courteous, professional, came did his work, cleaned up and was done in one day. I would definitely hire them again. Their charge was more than reasonable, lower than two other estimates I received.
Description of Work: Replaced damaged siding, deck boards, outdoor antenna from roof and added skirting on deck and hand rail. I didn't expect the siding to be painted, but Thomas painted them as well.

When we first purchased our home in 2008, we used Jon Wright's company to redo our roof. This time around, I reached out to them again because part of the work I wanted done included the re-surfacing of a flat roof at the rear of our home. As it turns out, they do MUCH more than just roofing. After meeting with Jon initially at my home to review my work, I was assigned to David Votava as my lead contact going forward. He managed the specific scopes of work and details, pricing, communications, and scheduling. Any time I had any questions about the work being done, I could always reach out to him and get an immediate response. He kept me comfortable throughout the entire process, and scheduled everything in a way that worked for us. All of this happened during the snowstorm and freezes during Jan-Feb 2014, but at no point did we have any uncertainties or questions about the work being done. I would happily work with David again, and would also advise anyone else considering this company to request him. In fact, we are already planning additional work to do later this year. The roofing installed was a modified bitumen flat roof installed over a previously installed flat roof that had been leaking constantly over the last 6 years every time it rained. There was no removal required, it was installed on top of the existing, and was done in less than one day. It was immediately tested, as the snowstorms and ice start less than 48 hours later. The moisture remained on top of the roof for many days, went through multiple thaws and re-freezes, and it has worked perfectly - not a single drop since. This roof was the primary reason why I went to this company in the first place, as they did an amazing job on my first roof, and did not disappoint this time either. They also replaced shingles and mushroom vents that has been damaged by hail and tree limbs from previous storms. Money-wise, the siding was the largest part of my investment. they replaced all exterior siding on my house with LP Smartside, and it looks great. It was repainted to match gutters and fascia already on the house. The previous siding was showing significant signs of wear and tear, including sections that were rotted and/or softening from retained moisture. The LP Smartside is a superior product that has a great warranty, installs easily, and will survive through very heavy moisture for extended periods of time. The windows we had installed were replacements of ours exiting windows on one side the kitchen, and installation of a new, larger window over our master bath. This portion involved removing the existing small windows, and then cutting our a larger box to install the bigger window. Our previous windows in both cases were more than 30 years old, so obviously the improvement is significant. The installation was also very smooth, and the contractors doing the work did an amazing job. They even managed to replicate the ceiling texture in our bathroom in the places where old wall was removed. I will be having many more windows replaced through them as well. The gutters were the last part of the job, and they were also done very efficiently and without issue. Like the siding and windows, they were also color-matched to the rest of the house, and look great. Overall, considering the weather circumstances, this was a great experience, and the pricing that they did all of this work for was simply amazing. I looked at other companies for some of these elements. and they wanted to charge me the same amount for one portion of it as Jon Wright did for the whole job! They are also good, trustworthy people who do the job right. They take pride in the quality of the work, and do not stop until the customer is happy. Throughout the initial process, I changed my mind multiple times on what I wanted to do and not do, and David was happy to adjust the quote for me. The contractors brought in to do the job are top notch at their professions, and have been working with Jon Wright for many years. When it comes to anything related to home upgrades or modifications in the future, I will ALWAYS be taking my business to Jon Wright.
Description of Work: Added a flat roof, replaced all exterior wood siding, replaced all gutters, and replaced multiple windows, including a new larger window in the master bathroom.

I cannot recommend Jon Wright highly enough. He has not yet installed our new roof but we used him once before to repair a leak at our skylight. After dealing with a terrible and dishonest roofer previously, Jon came in and expertly and quickly repaired the leak. We most recently got back in touch in order to get an estimate on a new roof. He and his wonderful staff worked incredibly quickly to give us a bid which came in as more than reasonable. We greatly appreciate the quality, friendliness and professionalism of this company. You would be hard-pressed to find a better roofer.

The entire experience with Jon Wright was very pleasant. They came out quickly to give a trust worthy, honest and competitive quote for the work. He recommended replacing and treating the wood around the windows to prevent the same thing happening in the future. He was prepared then to show me samples of what the glass, window seal and window frame would look like upon completion. I solicited several quotes and Jon Wright came in competitively and I felt the most comfortable going with them. The install was moved around quite a bit because of my schedule and they remained very agile and made each reschedule work. On the day of install, they worked quickly with much attention to detail. It looked great and I was overly satisfied with the quality of work. I would highly recommend Jon Wright to anyone looking to replace or install windows.

Response from Jon Wright Industries
We admit that the salesman Edgar went bad. He had worked for us on and off for years and the customers loved him. All of a sudden he went awol but would call customers and then not show up, repeatedly. I have no idea why he had such a sudden turn around. Once I was aware of this, he was removed from his job and I personally took over his numerous bad accounts. I was saddened by the betrayal of a long term employee who had done such a good job for such a long time. We took it on the chin financially and reputation wise for his behavior Our office shows no sign of complaints from this customer and the total paid was $9,600.00. Even though the customer never complained to us, that we show record of, the customer probably called Edgar repeatedly and was repeatedly lied to. We also lost money but that is not the clients fault. If there are any unresolved issues we'd be more than happy to rectify them and not ask for the review to be changed. Without knowing anything about this job but who the salesman was I believe the complaint to be legitimate but we would like the opportunity to view the roof and fix any defects it may have. Our guarantee and material warranties are in full effect. If the customer would please study our other reviews the customer would know I am sincere. I would do it personally as a matter of honor and saving face. The customer must have really been mad if the response came in several years after the job was done. If we cannot follow up then all I can do is apologize and hope no one is ever treated that way again.

One of my close friends recommended John Wright Roofing based on some recent repair work he had done on his house, and after checking out their solid rating on Angie's List, I gave them a call. The receptionist immediately put me in touch with Scott, who offered to come out same-day, however as I was away traveling on business, suggested we postpone until the next day. Despite my not being available until after 5PM on a Friday, Scott was very kind and offered to come out after hours anyway. When Scott arrived after battling rush-hour traffic on Friday, he immediately got to work. He was very knowledgeable and was able to immediately identify the problem area after poking around in the attic for a few minutes. Once he found the leaky spot in the attic, he climbed up on the roof to find where the leak was coming in from the outside. At this point it was DARK outside. 6PM on a Friday, and the man was offering to climb up on a steep roof of a two-story house. After climbing up, he was quickly able to identify the problem area and offered up the various options to address the issue. An area of metal sheeting at a curve on top of the roof had some gaps in it caused by heat, hail and general wear and tear. He suggested three options total - 1) patching the area with storm guard, 2) sending out a crew to scrape the existing caulk and re-caulk the area, and 3) replacing the entire metal sheeting. Not knowing what I'm doing, I was open to suggestions, and asked what he thought would be best. Clearly, options 1 and 2 were temporary fixes, however Scott mentioned that option 3 carried a $1000-1500 price tag, but would solve the problem long term. Scott was very confident that he had identified the issue, however suggested, to be safe, that we apply storm guard to the area and let a few heavy storms pass by to see if the roof still leaked. This way, at least we would be 100% confident that we correctly identified the issue before jumping to the thousand dollar solutions. When Scott finished patching the roof, I asked him what I owed him, and to my shock, he said I didn't owe anything. Of course the solution he provided was short term and I'll eventually need to spend some money to get it fixed permanently, however I was amazed at the level of honesty and professionalism Scott provided. He wasn't in a hurry to make a quick buck or jump to the most expensive solution, however clearly demonstrated that he wanted to provide the best and most cost-effective solution based on what we know now. Long story short, Scott, and this company as a whole, are committed to building great long-term relationships with their customers. After my experience with them, I guarantee I'll be giving them a call the next time a hail storm rolls around or when that storm guard finally wears off on the leaky roof area. THANKS SCOTT!
Description of Work: Scott came out after-hours on a Friday evening and patched up a spot in our roof. While he said the proper way to permanently fix the issue was a $1000-1500 repair, he suggested we use storm guard first to ensure that we identified the appropriate leaky area and did so free-of-charge.

In this day and age customer service seems to be a thing of the past. David Votava, with Jon Wright Roofing Siding & Windows, is a PERFECT example of how to treat customers and make them want to return. He was on time and had several siding samples for us to review on the spot. He listened to every detail we wanted and captured it in their quote, which was easy to read and returned very promptly. David?s follow up again was impressive and he was able to answer all our questions about the siding we selected. He truly has a passion for his work. Thank you David Votava with Jon Wright Siding & Windows!!

Overall this company was ok to work with. The sales rep was quick to respond to my phone calls and answered all questions. However he made a few comments during our time that did not sit well with me, in the end we discussed it and he did apologize. I had issues getting a day and time for my work to be completed, but once they did get there, they were quick and did a great job. The price was a little high for the amount of work, but they did an excellent job, I would use their services again.

She is exactly correct. David told me he said something about small jobs and Angie's customers having power over us. He told me and I called her to tell her we appreciate every job and try to do our best no matter what. She was big enough to realize David slipped up, as he is new to retail home repairs. His background is in the manufacturing and wholesale distribution and he is use to dealing with rough contractors and pushy wholesalers. He was too kind in that end of the business and now has to work on his empathy. But we do have trouble scheduling jobs because we are working on other projects, don't know if the job will grow or have problems, if anyone might get sick or hurt, and what the traffic gods will give us. Then there is weather. We try to pinpoint as much as possible unlike the telephone, cable, electric or gas companies do. Small jobs are as important as large ones as it is still someone's home and life we enter.

We don't have any real complaints about the roof although the Renters were not please with their cleanliness. The problem comes from the fact that we have a Solar Panel on the roof that heats the water for the hot water heater. Sometime after the work was finished on the roof, the Solar Panel started to leak. I called the roofing company to see if anything they had done would have caused the leak. They said no. One of the employees I spoke with said he was a Plumber and he would fix the problem. he went out to the house a couple of times and did various things to try and stop the leak. He eventually ordered a Valve to replace the old valve. . I paid him a total of $475.00. The problem was, the valve he installed was for a refrigerator and was in no way able to withstand the pressure from the Solar Panal so water was running along the pipe back into the house where it eventually caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. The waterleak finally started running down the roof on both sides of the house and was reported to us by the occupants of the house. we had the water supply shut off for the time being and later on contacted a company that sells and repairs Solar Panals who did the proper repairs and charged $260.00, Far less that James Crowell had charged me. Now we still have nearly Ten Thousand dollars worth of damages that have to be dealt with. Theres a lesson to be learned here, if you have a Solar Panal on your roof and it needs repair.......call a professional to begin with.

We're sorry to hear of the problems. We had done work previously for her and to great success. There were no reviews on the roof repairs or the full roof job we did and she was happy with. When the solar panel did leak later, after we did the full roof, we went out and diagnosed it not to be the roof leaking . We changed out the valve on the solar water heater with one that Grainger recommended, a pressure relief valve for hot water heaters, not refrigerators, part 2RMY8. We told Grainger what we needed it for. It stopped the leak from the end of November to very late February. We told her, when leakage began again, that it is beyond our expertise because we believed the in line filter was clogged or there was other blockages in the lines. Our repairman was afraid that he would damage the equipment and the client and our repairman agreed that it would be best to send out a plumber. We never heard anything else until this complaint. We are sorry for this but if we did anything wrong we do carry $2 million in liability insurance. We tried to help and stepped out of our expertise. We have learned not to do so again. We spent $228.60 at Grainger and $175.00 in labor and then there is a 5% insurance cost. We tried to help at cost and made a friend into an enemy. The $260.00 the other company charged probably carried no valve cost and was for cleaning the pipes. The valve we replaced was shot, from age or back pressure, and had to be replaced anyway. We would like to know exactly what the plumber fixed and if we did anything wrong. No information about this had been disclosed to us prior to this review. We would like the opportunity to accept or deny responsibility for these damages. She knows the lines of communication are always open here. I wish she had used them.

First of all, Jose has many years of experience; and it shows. He is obsessive about his work, and we appreciated that. This job took two days to complete. I had requested that he put metal in the areas where the squirrels were trying to enter our attic; and he perfectly matched the metal pieces with the siding, so that you do not even notice the "patched" places. He went above and beyond, in that he not only repaired the things I pointed out to him, but he repaired any other small things he found when he was up on the roof, included in the original quoted estimate. We have a very steep roof, and that was not a problem for him. He was polite and professional in every way. Victoria (who answers the phone and deals with the customers) was also very good at her job. She responded in a timely manner and was extremely helpful. I recommend Jon Wright Industries wholeheartedly and will definitely use them again.

The provider has yet to do the work but from the attention he has given the project he has really impressed everyone involved.
Description of Work: The contractor did a bid for our condo development but due to the usual HOA delays the work has been delayed. I asked the associate who did the bid to contact me once a week until the association approved his bid. He kept his word and has now helped me force the association to either approve the work immediately or guarantee Jon Wright the business when it is approved. John Atavo is the contractor we used and I have never had more professional service from a contractor. Before he came into my house he actually put on "footies" on his feet to make sure that he would not track anything into the house. He was very professional and communicated with me very well. He told me exactly what he was going to have to do. It was raining when he came to the house and I asked him to make sure he wanted to work in the rain and he was fine with finishing everything that day. He spent his time repairing everything and I was very pleased with how it turned out. It looks better than it did originally. While he was up there I had asked him to look at my roof because we have had some hail storms . So I just wanted to make sure everything was okay. He spent a little bit up there looking at the roof and told me that he did see some hail damage and he arranged a meeting with a roofing representative from the same company. They have answered all of my questions and have made me feel very comfortable with them from the beginning. I will continue to use them for whatever I may need in the future. They are my guys.
Description of Work: The cable and television line was attached to the eave of my house. The wire had pulled a board out of place and the eave had fallen down. He came out to my house, took everything down and took the wood apart. He then put everything back onto the house and repaired everything. He then refigured how to rewire everything so that it would not be a probelm in the future.

My new roof is clear evidence of another job well done by Jon Wright Roofing and their project manager Scott Craig. It was a large installation (98 squares) of impact-resistant shingles (Class IV), with a custom-designed passive ventilation system, repair or replacement of some gutter sections, and a special coating on a metal roof over a patio. But before more specifics of Jon Wright?s work, I?ll describe my roofer selection process. As another victim of the massive July 2012 hail storm I was bombarded with mailings and door-hangers from half the roofers in North Texas. I ignored all of that and started my selection with Angie?s list, Better Business Bureau and other sources. An important initial selection criterion was being in business in the Dallas area for at least 15 years. Five companies made the short list. I sent an invitation to bid to each, to gather information on warranties, customer references for similar-sized jobs, construction practices, and estimated cost. That process resulted in two finalists. Jon Wright was selected based on several factors, including: construction practices; a focus on roof design to minimize attic temperature (and therefore increase HVAC effectiveness); and Scott Craig?s knowledge and attention to detail. It is always a pleasure to talk with him and with Jon Wright himself. The company did an excellent job of installing the new roof, and of managing subcontractors for the gutter and roof coating work. The crew was very careful to protect my property, and to clean up at the end of each day. Scott Craig was on site each day to supervise the work and to give advice on decisions. He was also very effective in managing weather delays and repair of interior nail pops and mortar cracks (inevitable minor damage in roof replacement work). The company delivered the warranty certificates and Class IV certificate (for insurance premium discount) shortly after completing the job. Replacing a roof is a major project for any homeowner, and an expensive one. I fully endorse Jon Wright Roofing as the company who will do that job with technical expertise, solid customer service, and minimal disruption to the homeowner?s daily activities. Regarding that energy-efficient roof design: my June electric bill was about 10% lower than the prior year.
Description of Work: Replaced large, complex roof (98 squares) with Class IV roof. Replaced some sections of guttering. Applied a coating on the metal roof over the patio.

I was having a hard time finding someone to do my chimney repair. I found Jon Write Roofing on Angie's List and tried them. Within a few hours I had an email from Jon confirming Tom as my project manager. Tom called me that day and we set an appointment for him to give me an estimate. Tom was on time, friendly, professional, honest and pointed out some other needed repairs. He explained why they should be done and how he would do the repair so that it was done right. He gave me an itemized estimate with no pressure to do all the work. The pricing was very reasonable, so we chose to have everything done. Tom started the next morning, completing what could be done that day, then came back in two days to finish up. We are 100% satisfied with Tom's work. Everything was completed as promised and he was very neat (nothing worse than having to clean up behind someone!) We have a couple of large projects on our wish list. Tom took the time to listen and discussed ideas on the best ways to complete them. He is quoting these projects for us now.
Description of Work: Painted/repaired wood chimney, repaired roof flashing, caulked roof vent pipes, repaired cracked mortar and expansion joints

Thought they were a fine company. We chose a different one due to price, job proposal and sales rep.

Within a few hours of requesting an estimate, I was contacted by Ken Dunn to set an appointment to measure the windows. He was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. I had an estimate within 24 hours and I could use the 10% off coupon I found on Angie's List. I provided a 50% deposit and a date was set for the installation. Dave Votava was the project manager and he kept me informed during the entire process. The only negative was that the installers were 90 minutes late but Dave kept calling me with a status. The windows were installed quickly and the installers were extremely polite, instructed me on how to use the windows and cleaned up after themselves! I would definitely use Jon Wright again!
Description of Work: I replaced 5 single pane steel framed windows with new vinyl, double hung windows with Jon Wright
