+ -1 moreIt went great -- Alan R. did an awesome job. This is an investment property, and I don't babysit contractors. Everything was done by phone and lockbox -- I never meet Alan R. in person. Quote and invoicing was done by email -- all I did was answer the phone and write a check. I got three quotes, two from licensed A/C guys and one from my unlicensed jack-all-trades guy (he does everything!). Alan R. (licensed) crushed his licensed competition on price and came close to his unlicensed competition. Even better, he said he could do a tricky in-ceiling 1985 unit replacement when a competitor refused to even bid, claiming it was too hard. A few weeks after install my tenant called and said water was dripping. Alan came out the same day and increased the insulation on the new lines -- new unit was cooling really well. Problem solved. No charge. No more complaining tenant.
Description of Work: I bought a townhome built in 1985 with the original A/C system, which was kaput. To say it was past its useful life is an understatement. I needed total system replacement -- controller, compressor, coil, pad, lines, heater, and condenser. JOB: Total replacement of 1985 2 1/2 ton apartment-style in-ceiling A/C and heating system with a modern SEER 16 system.

+ -1 moreThis company was recommended by my property realty company as a reputable HVAC contractor. I was told the hourly cost would be $150 for the first hour and $125 for additional hours. The workers were here for 2 hours and billed me for 3. Their explanation was I had to pay for drive time from their shop to by building. (This was not told to me during my phone conversation with the owner) The workers asked me if I wanted the filters changed, I asked them how much they cost, they told me $15. The DID NOT tell me each unit has 8 filters! (cost $240) This company withholds information then surprises you with a huge bill. DO NOT use this company!
