To date, I've paid Infinity Services a total of $27k of a $34k project. I'm ahead of scheduled payment by $5000. Contract was signed on November 2, and the completion date was determined to be January 15 (date reflects an additional few weeks of possible weather delays-per Infinity Services) As far as I knew, everything was smooth sailing until I drove up, the first week of January, from Houston to deliver marble backsplash for my kitchen and bath area, expecting the project to be at a point where the backsplash was about ready for application. Upon arrival, the structure seemed to be leaning. As I entered the interior, I immediately noticed spliced lumber, gray in color, that were not vertical, but slanted in some areas. I saw boards that went from the ceiling, to about knee length, with another board starting at the floor, to knee length, merely being held together by the spray insulation. The exterior of the house was already in place, yet the windows were on the exterior of the siding. The flooring had at least a 1" gap running through the center, where the building was obviously out of square, because the plywood was not able to be set next to each other. The window supports were not properly set in place-there were no headers on any window or door. I took pictures of this and left the build site. I immediately contacted a local inspector and sent the pictures to him. When he returned my call, it was clear that there were serious building issues with my tiny house. The tiny house that myself, my husband, and our three small kids (9,5 and 18mo) would be living in, full time, as we build a home, in the Galveston area. The website [weblink removed] declares all builds are set with RV building codes, as well as windstorm standards. I made sure to be clear that this house was to be parked in Galveston and paid extra for hurricane clips and tie downs. The spray foam installer recalls seeing ZERO clips, yet Chas swears there are 72 of them, although she refuses to cut a piece of insulation and show me proof. I informed Chas that the inspector would be coming on Monday (his was in a Friday afternoon). She immediately said no one is allowed to inspect due to end trade secrets. Too bad. We showed up Monday, and she refused to allow anyone access, including myself, the contracted client. I proceeded to approach my tiny house, simply to get additional pictures for the inspector to review. Her wife followed me and physically removed me from my tiny house. We left. The inspector's report, solely based on a visual from 100'+ away, and the pictures I provided, counted TWELVE major issues with the house. In an email from Chas, she states--had I known you were going to finance the remainder of the project, I would have built to the specifications of the bank and it would have been to CODE. Here is where she admits the structure is faulty. Needless to say, all concerns addressed by the I skeptic have been ignored and I am no longer allowed on the property. She has halted all work, knowing our family had to be out of our house by Feb 1, based on the completion dates she provided. Our house has been sitting for weeks. I'm now finding out that the money I have given her, has been spent on vacations and she is unable to complete my job. Although our contract and several text messages show bat ALL materials were to be bought within 7 days of down payment, she cannot come up with the finishing materials/appliances. In fact, she wants me to allow her to keep the $27k, and she furnish the trailer with her dry-in work, and a few odds and ends, and sign a statement saying I will not sue her in the future. She also demands that I pay a driver of her choosing, to deliver the home to me, in as-is condition, before she will release the title to the trailer to me. She's requiring that I sign an affidavit declaring myself or anyone I've ever known, will not start a tiny house business...... Pretty much, she's taking my money and refusing to provide a finished product that is up to any code, but wants the final payment. BEWARE of this scam artist! She knows she is acting criminally, which is why every email she asks me to sign a waiver of suit against her. I'd be happy to share pictures, inspectors report, etc with anyone wanting to view them.
Description of Work: Chas McDaniel (Infinity Homes) is incompetent when it comes to building. I just happened to see my tiny house prior to the installation of Sheetrock and it opened my eyes to what was to come had she continued building my structure. Be aware that what you see is NOT what you get!
