Hugh Morren

Description of Work: I called to get a fencing estimate. Mr. Morren recommended I call another contractor and gave me a name. He is busy and is doing more interior work at this point. I wanted to give him a recommendation because he was very professional and a made an effort to get me in touch with someone that would be able to help.

Description of Work: Near the end of April, 2012, I found Hugh on Angie's List. After reading all of his reviews, I called him and he answered right away. No voice mail! I was planning to be away on vacation until mid-May and after giving him a brief description of the things I needed to have him do, we agreed to get back in touch after I returned. But he did inform me that he probably couldn't get to my work until August. When I returned, he came right over and looked things over. We agreed that since my house is over 100 years old, it would be difficult for him to bid the job not knowing what he would run into. We agreed on an hourly rate. He also told me he could start earlier than previously thought as someone ahead of me decided he couldn't wait that long. Big mistake on his part. Lucky on my part! Hugh showed up as promised on July 10th. Again, we went over the scope of work. I furnished him with a gift card from Home Depot so he could go and pick up any supplies or materials he required. He kept all the receipts and gave them to me daily and at the end of the job, returned the card to me. Among the repairs he performed for me were as follows: * Replaced several rotted window sills and trim with treated wood, prepared and painted to match existing * Replaced rotted siding and trim, prepared and painted to match existing * Caulked numerous windows and doors * Replaced section of porch decking, prepared and painted * Milled and replaced section of beveled horizontal siding, p & p The entire job took about 8 days and everything looks great. I am very pleased and would hire Hugh again. I would highly and happily recommend him to others. I also echo everything I read on Hugh on this site. I would add that he cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each work day, put away supplies and made sure that I was pleased with his work and the progress he was making. The only regret that I have is that I thought of a few more things I forgot to have him do!
