+ -1 moreAll went well. The crew that came for the first visit and estimate were the same crew that did the work. They completed the work on time and were very respectful while in the house. I gave a B for quality because I have since found some areas where I would say the paint was not perfect. Not too worried about it myself, I know when I have them back for other work I can have them touch it up.

It is difficult to find good home improvement help in and around Mustang Island and that part of the coast. It was fantastic to find someone like Hugh who is really dedicated to his work and who loves his work. He also delivers excellent customer service. I have recommended him to many people in that part of Texas. Plus, I will be hiring him for my next home improvement project.

+ -1 moreThe workmanship of Hugh Morren is really good. I had him install ceramic floor tile in the Kitchen. The only thing is that his labor rate has doubled since last time I used him. He use to do all the work himself but now he is subcontracting alot of his work out. It did take some time to get on the schedule to have the work completed. I know his work is good and precise but I think he needs to make sure he gets back with his customers in a more timely manner.

Hugh was always available and very willing to accomodate my schedule. He checked all the work and went above and beyond to make sure the work was done correctly.

After 5 OTHER contractors failed to even showed up (delaying repairs over two months), I was not only relieved to have someone respond but someone who was skilled. The floor tiles were a challenge because tile size & color was not available and since the property is for sale, the floor had to look really good. A creative pattern was the solution and looks as though it was planned to be there from the beginning. A very good experience.
Description of Work: Water leaks and flooding caused drywall damage and ceramic tiles to lift from the floor. Walls were repaired and tiles replaced in a charming design because the original tile is a size and color no longer available.

+ 1 moreOverall the job was good. All of the tile was laid by Hugh, which required a lot of precise measuring and cutting due to uneven surfaces. His tile experience is limited, but I feel that he did acceptable work. My husband and I were very involved in the process and made sure that Hugh understood what was important to us. Communication was great. The job took about three weeks to complete, which was a bit longer than anticipated (this did not change his price though). My only suggestion would have been to spend one extra day cleaning and sealing the tile/grout as well as reinstalling the shower and tub fixtures. This is something my husband and I easily finished up and did not push Hugh to complete. I defintely recommend Hugh. He is pleasant and easy to work with.
Description of Work: My master bathroom (shower and tub surround) was tiled with travertine by Hugh Morren. In addition, he removed the old fiberglass shower unit and dry wall and installed the new backer board. His work did not include the installation of the shower pan or rerouting of my plumbing. This was hired out through a plumbing company at an additional cost.

+ -1 moreIt went fairly well. Mr. Morren is very busy so it was a bit difficult to get a date for him to come out and give an estimate. When he did come out, he was very professional and thorough. The men that he sent out were pleasant and professional and did a nice job with the repairs. Mr. Morren came out after the work was finished to check and make sure that it was done correctly and well, and I thought that was a great follow up. All said and done, I was pleased with the work. I would definitely use his company in the future.
Description of Work: There was a hole in our bathroom ceiling where a foot had gone through. The wood beams had to be tightened, drywall replaced, and spackled.

+ 4 moreThe work started a little behind schedule, due to his workload, and took a little longer than estimated. But overall it went well. As the work progressed, we found other items that needed attention, and these were added to the list at nominal cost. We had to be out of town for part of the period, and we felt comfortable enough with the workers to give Hugh a key to the house so the work could continue while we were gone.
Description of Work: We called Hugh and his crew in to repair damage to walls and floors caused by foundation problems. The work was done efficiently and the results were great! Hugh and his crew were courteous and responsible, and very professional.

Description of Work: Hugh performed a complete re-paint of the trim, jambs and doors in the main living area of the house. He performed a couple of other small tasks also. He was excellent at communicating. He even informed me I had purchased some paint that didn't match so I could exchange it before he went too far. Hugh is very busy but he fit me in to help get the job done before Christmas. It was a 2 days here, 3 days there kind of thing, but I always knew ahead of time when he was coming. He actually showed up when he said he would. That's kind of unique for So. TX. I would highly recommend Hugh for anyone needing quality work from a trustworthy professional. Though my job was perdominately interior painting, it's my understanding he has a broad range of tasks he can handle.

+ -1 moreAs I already stated above. The day Hugh was coming for the payment, he called and said-" I over charged you $ 600. He insisted on paying that to me that day. When I got the check from him, it was for $ 220. I felt decieved. I am a college grad., but could never figure what they were up to. All I have to say is beware!
Description of Work: One man painted my livingroom and entryway- he painted for five days maybe five and a half totally. I was never able to get a bid from Hugh- I did get a bid, but it was for another person altogether. After they started, my mother passed away in Pennsylvania and I didn,t have time to continue to ask about a bid- so, I trusted them. Bad mistake! A few days after they were finished, I got a call from Hugh to come by and pick up the payment. I asked how much- I still hadn't recieved a bid. When he said $ 3200 hundred dollars, I was shocked. I had already paid $ 600 for materials. No, I do not have a living room the size of a skating rink. The man painted- no more- no less for approximately 44 hours- and I'm stretching it. That comes to about $ 87 an hour. Beware!

He was very professional, and would give options of how he could go about the projects (e.g., construction detail, aesthetics, etc.). The work itself was completed in about two days.
Description of Work: Very good, quality work. Repaired/patched rotted out bracing and trim for the roof of a shed. Installed new wooden gate and stabilized another section of fencing. Trustworthy individual who gives an honest estimation of time and scheduling for a project.

Description of Work: I called Hugh Moran for an estimate to repair the ceiling in my family room after a water leak. He returned my call immediately and called to confirm the appointment before coming over. I found him friendly, professional, and the estimate was very reasonable. I would not have hesitated to use his services, but because of a personal time crunch, I went with another contractor.

He also is very up front with the client regarding costs as well as offering his recommendations regarding what materials would perform best for the application. I am very impressed with his honesty and devotion to his profession.
Description of Work: I had asked Hugh Morren to replace a roof and a door on a 50 year old well house structure that was on our property. The existing roof was badly deteriorated with termites, rot, and water damage. The door was a sheet of plywood with a wooden frame hung upon the structure wooden door frame. Hugh removed the roof, door, and door frame. He replaced the roof, installed a new door and door frame into the existing concrete block structure. Now the roof does not leak, and the door can be properly secured. Hugh also installed a passageway lock and dead bolt lock assembly to further enhance the security of the structure. For the last 10 years that I have owned the property, vandals had been entering and exiting the structure on a weekly basis. Now with the improvements that Hugh has made, the vandals no longer enter the structure. Thanks to the work that Hugh did, I now have a secure, water resisitant structure where I can begin to store household goods. Hugh also changed out a back door to the residence for me. He did a very nice job. The door opens and closes correctly and the finished job is very attractive. Thank you, Hugh for the fine work that you did!

Description of Work: Hugh was awesome in his dealings and work with us. It is very hard to find someone in this area who keeps their word, calls back when you call them, and gets the job done to your standards, Hugh did all of that at an excellent level. We needed a fireplace mantel, he took the initiative to find us a guy who built the mantel with superb craftsmanship, then installed the fireplace doing us a favor and getting it installed for Thanksgiving. Great guy!!!!
