Electrician was wonderful, however it cost me $450 for 15 minutes of his work. I was told they charge by the job not by the hour and that the $80.00 show up at the door fee was help keep costs down (what a joke). Zak looked over the situation, evaluated the problem and pushed hard for me to sign for a diagnostic inspection, repeatedly telling what a great package offer it was and all the benefits of it, that the problem could be anywhere and could involve considerable investigation. I was not offered any other options. I felt it was a hard sales pitch. The moment I signed he went straight to the issue and repaired it in less than 5 minuted, telling me I was paying for his knowledge. He would give me no price quotes for other jobs I wanted done, informing me I need a new box, wires gutted and everything brought up to code and that would cost about $14,000.00. If it was not winter and the issue was in the circuit to the thermostat, I would not have agreed to any of this company's payment policies. I felt taken advantage of because of the season and my lack of knowledge of the situation.

The technician arrived as scheduled, was courteous, and explained the pricing. Wish I had asked ahead of time on the phone - more expensive than I'd planned. Haven't had electrical repair project in a long time here, so maybe I'm just uninformed, but there was a service call fee ($79), that did not apply to the repair. Planned replacement of the dimmer switch to a chandelier was additional $125 (I had purchased the part thinking we could do it ourselves, but ran into a complication with the wiring in the wall). On top of that, because the new dimmer was part of a 3-way connection, the other switch was examined and found to be broken, so we paid for an additional single switch at a cost of $147 (they supplied the part). Anyway, the lights work, and I'm glad, but $350 seems a little high.

Pros: Ray, the technician, was on time, very polite, and explained everything well. He completed to agreed upon work timely and ensured I was satisfied. He deserves 5 stars for customer service. Cons: All work is done by the job, not by the time spent. This is a Pro and a Con. The Pro is that you know up front the total cost. The Con is that, in my case, I had a very specific, known, job to be accomplished and the customer service personnel setting up the appointment would not give me a price range over the phone. If the technicians have this an online "book" of job charges, there is no reason why a price range or idea of price could not be provided over the phone before booking the appointment. Basically, you are on the hook for the service fee just to get a quote that the technician pulls from the service fee "book" online. The overall cost of the job was very high. I ended up scaling back the job from 3 items to 1 due to the cost. Since I was already on the hook for the service fee, I figured I should bite the bullet and have at least one task resolved. I paid more than I thought was reasonable for the service, but with the service fee I would be paying anyway, the price difference did not warrant refusal of all service. Additional Comments: Apparently part of the service fee includes an inspection of the home, which might make this worthwhile. However, I have a brand new home that has already been thoroughly inspected so I received no benefit from the service fee. I realize many companies charge a service fee, but many will waive if you agree to the service at the time of the initial visit. My gripe is that it was not made clear this would not be waived in the initial contact. Overall, the company was timely and Ray provided excellent service. If I was in a pinch for service, I might use them again.

He tried to talk me into a full house inspection. I forgot to get a receipt, and he did not offer one. The cost for the receptacle and minor labor (just a screwdriver) seemed high.

Technician was on time and did a good job of isolating the root cause. Because of the age of my house, he pointed out other upgrades or potential safety issues I should check. He provided quotes of approximate costs to make the suggested upgrades.

I like that all services have a preset price. They charge by the job, not how long it takes. They have great service people.

They were knowledgeable, courteous and very pricey for the work done. The two guys reflected the Salt Light and Electric professionalism and timeliness. They could have been better prepared for the work. Be prepared for a $75 travel charge, which you pay whether you use them or not. They quote the work and then do the stated work for the quoted price no matter how long it takes them. I was originally going to have them do a lot more, but given their cost, I did the minimum needed.

I think it was pricey for what was done but, they were very professional and respected my home.

They were the only company that was able to help me. I had three other companies come out, but two said they couldn't do it, and one said it was a $650 job. These guys came out and said it was easy, and had it done the next day for a total of $125. I would hire them again for any electrical work I need!
