I do mobile repairs and the cost of interior parts has gone thru the roof and fixing the existing parts can make a lot of sense. I started repairing auto upholstery in DFW over 35 years ago. I know what works and what doesn't work. If you go to my website FixMyLeather.com, you'll find good advice as to when repair and maintenance will work to your advantage. Check out the before and after pictures.

Steve was great! I messaged him through this site after our dog chewed holes on both ends of our leather sectional. He quickly replied and asked me to send pics of the damaged areas. After viewing the pics, he assured me that the damage was repairable and gave me his quote. He was able to come out a few days later and worked his magic. Both areas look great! I never thought they would have turned out as good as they did and am so glad we didn’t have to replace the sofa.

Steve responded to my text immediately, gave me an assessment over the phone of the pictures I'd provided, came to the house the following afternoon, and worked 3 hours to recondition my leather furniture. Result was beautiful, price so reasonable, and his expertise was invaluable on proper care to increase the longevity of my furniture. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone needing leather restoration. Thank you Steve!

This was a nice high-end leather. It scratches easily and I like to use a compatible leather conditioner to buff out most of the scratches. I prefer to try buffing first because if you cover a high-end leather with a thick dye,you lose the scratch resistant properties of a translucent dye.

I performed a hand stitch on a leather sofa loose seam. To have another shop take the leather cover off the wooden frame and put it under a sewing machine would have cost hundreds plus a pick-up and delivery fee.

They did a good job. They had to take a section out and put another section in. They even checked for bugs in the sofa, and pulled the covering off to check the springs. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They came out and fixed my leather sofa.
I called the day after Thanksgiving to check to see if they were open, Steve called me back immediately and had just finished a job in Grapevine so he said he could swing by and check out my requests... he was here within 15 minutes! The job I had was outside his area of expertise, but he recommended another company that he said could handle my request. He also gave us some excellent advice on the selection and care of leather! Very knowledgeable, prompt and courteous!
Description of Work: Needed a quote on repairing a seam on a leather cushion and replacing straps that connect it to the sofa, also re-stuffing two side chairs.

[Member Name Removed] needed to have some minor stitching re-done on a leather sofa. I do mobile repairs using adhesive and dyes, and I do very little replacing of any materials. So I referred him to a local shop that does sewing machine work.
He was very informative and talked with me at length about a quick fix to the problem. He told me how to do a temporary fix for the party which was great because we were having a party at our house later that week.
Description of Work: I had a tear in my sofa that needed to be fixed. I sent him a photo of the tear and he talked to me at length about how the sofa seemed to be cheaply made and that it wasn't worth fixing.
So my dog ruined a 6 inch portion of my bottom couch trying to get to a chicken nugget which was lodged under the couch behind one of the legs. In the process he left a large tear both wide and deep which was quite unsightly. I found this company through angle's list and had a great experience. The couch is now fixed and you cannot even tell it was ever damaged which is remarkable considering it was quite messed up and horrible looking. I sent Steve the pictures through text and he responded in under 5 minutes with a quote and an appointment date. The quote was exactly what I ended up paying as well. Steve arrived on time to my house for the appointment and did flawless work. I honestly had very low hopes for the couch to be fixed as my dog did a real number on it but looking at it now you cannot even tell it was ever damaged. I was very pleased and the will use again if my dog decides to eat my couch again in the future. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: Fixed tear on bottom of couch after dog had messed it up.
Vendor asked me to text a photo of the sofa and the damaged area. Within minutes Steve called, gave me an estimate and said he could repair the piece at my home the following evening at about 5 pm. He texted 15 minutes before he arrived. Steve finished the work in about 80 minutes. The work was well done and the sofa looked like new. Vendor stuck with the estimated price of the work, which was $75. Well worth it. Very happy with Upholstery Fix.
Description of Work: Upholstery repair. Hand stitched loose seam on leather sofa.
The overall experience was most excellent. My initial phone call was returned within minutes, and a request was made for a photo of the items to be repaired. Once the photos had been received, Steve called and gave me an estimate of $250.00 to repair two loveseats, and we set an appointment for that Saturday. On Saturday morning, Steve first called to reconfirm the appointment, then arrived exactly on time. He took time to assess both loveseats and gave his professional opinion that only one of them could be successfully repaired, so that is what we went with. Steve spent a couple hours working on the repair to mix exactly the right tint to match the and quot;pearland quot; (white) leather.
Description of Work: Steve repaired a leather loveseat that had several knife-edge cuts. The repair is so excellent that the repair is not noticeable except for the leather feeling slightly thicker where it is repaired.

I called Steve to fix a tear in my leather couch. He was able to stop by my house the same day to repair. I also had some other minor damage for him to look at but advised me that it would be cheaper to repair on my own. He then explained to me what I can do for the minor damage. He is an honest person. His website/blog is also very helpful.

Highly recommend Steve, if we ever ave any job that's in his wheelhouse he will be the first one we call!
Description of Work: We called about having our sofa cushions de-stuffed, they were way over stuffed in order to sit comfortably which would also require having the faux leather restitched in order to keep a clean look. Steve told us that it was a simple job but not really what he does so he graciously recommended another upholstery company for the job and we couldn't be happier with the results of the cushions or the integrity of Steve for letting us know that he really wasn't the man for the job. Refreshing to contact someone in business who is honest and straightforward! Thank you Steve!

I called about two different jobs and emailed pictures of the damage. He called me back and said he could not do a quality job on the Honda seat and referred me to someone who could (which I ended up using ) probably fix it. He said he could repair the sofa and we made an evening appointment. The day of the appointment he called me because he got held up on his current job. So he came on Saturday ( day off) to do the job. He was very friendly and efficient. He did a wonderful job on the repair. I appreciated his honesty and the referral for the Honda seat.

and quot;My leather couch, at least 30 years old, needed significant work. It is very heavy as it contains a fold out bed so moving it is difficult. Original damage was from a German Shepherd puppy that shredded one of the arm pillows totally and significantly damaged the other one many years ago. I took it many years ago, to what I thought was a good repair place over in Dallas, only to be most unhappy with what happened. Those folks pulled parts of the each end open to remove the bits of damaged materials. But this effort failed. All the attempts to match leather color for replacement arm pillows failed badly. I ended up getting the sofa back, with the sides partially open, and many, many sharp nails / staples exposed. What a disaster, as the sofa was a very good one, with full real leather even on the sides and back surfaces of the sofa. I held onto the sofa for years, but did not know what else to do with it. I decided to attempt to have the sofa repaired, without adding back the flop over leather side pillows that used to be over each of the side arms in an attempt to regain perhaps some functional use of this expensive piece of furniture with modest expense. If that could not be done, then I was prepared to get rid of the sofa. So recently, I went onto Angie's list and found my new repair vendor with positive reviews by other Angie's list folks. I called and quot;Upholstery Fix (Steve)and quot; and described my problem. He had me take a few pictures and text attach the pictures to him to look at. He gave me a phone verbal estimated price of $150 as his best estimate from the pictures, with the comment that he would be able to confirm the cost and the quality of the repair possible when he could see the problems in person. Wonderfully, Steve has a mobile operation so that I did not have to try to move this heavy piece of furniture myself or pay for folks to come pick up the furniture and then bring it back. So, I had Steve come on out prepared to do the work. It was a difficult repair. It required some special hardware and tack strips that Steve had to drive to downtown Ft. Worth to go get. Steve explained and showed me where some of the leather had been deformed / stretched by the previous repair attempts in addition to the stretching the dog had accomplished. Steve explained that this meant he would make it look as good as he could and be quite serviceable yet would have some wrinkles in a repaired area of each side that were beyond being put back together perfectly. Since these areas were not very visible and the leather was a pretty dark brown color, and I really just wanted to regain functionality of the sofa, I had him proceed with the repair. The repair turned out better than I had hoped for. The repair turned out good enough that we put the sofa out in our main great room in a freestanding position and the sofa looks great. Steve probably put in about 6 hours of work and chasing parts in doing this project and did it for the original amount of his phone estimate. I ended up buying also some leather treatment solutions which is what increased the cost up another $30 dollars. Plus, Steve got all of this work done on the original day I first called him. Outstanding. I knew I would use this service again, as I had another chair that needed repairs, but that will be reported on a subsequent Angie's feedback later.
Description of Work: Leather couch repaired. Mobile repair service did repairs in my home. Do's: Described work by taking camera phone pictures of problems and sending pictures to vendor over my cell phone. Dont's: There were no problems encountered in this experience.
