The work itself was fine. In hindsight, I should have insisted on meeting the estimator on-site to walk thru exactly what work I wanted them to do. Despite me sending a detailed list of items to price at the beginning, and then correcting them on their estimates, things were missed along the way. The disconnect between an owner in another city (me), the estimator never visiting the jobsite, and all communication going thru a third party leads to this kind of thing. The project manager and office staff were friendly and helpful. The miscommunication was frustrating.
Description of Work: We had an insurance claim when the water heater had a catastrophic failure. The insurance company paid for new carpet and some paint. Gregg Construction did the work, and we hired them to do some additional work, including additional flooring, additional drywall repair leftover from previous tenant abuse, some trim woodwork outside, and some outside painting.

Administrative coordination poor: Office personnel rude and lacks integrity and knowledge about construction processes. Lacks basic accounting skills, relies on software. Field Forman: Respectful and polite. Lacks technology to manage multiple jobs. Over tasked to visit job sites until asked. Unsuccessful at maintaining performance standards for subcontractors. Homeowner coordinated with subs on issue resolution. Asked for on site meetings only after issues reported. Failed to have initial issues resolved without allowing subs to create new issues. Flooring: Chris Exceeded expectations with coordination and tasking for crews. Maintained supervision of subs and quickly worked to schedule revisits for issue resolution. I would recommend Alcosta flooring to a friend. Painter: Started strong, quickly declined with personnel no shows. Failed to allow drying time for texture and paint before second coat. Did not prime drywall or texture and ordered wrong paint sheen.

Was a nightmare! Too many problems to list. Main problem was with extremely poor quality work by contracted craftsmen (tile, plumbers, painters)... not with management!
Description of Work: INSURANCE CLAIM: Water damage to bathroom floor due to leaking shower pan. Entire bath (floor, tile, wall heater, etc.) was torn out and rebuilt.

We had some repairs which made big holes in the foundation of our house and they came and replaced the tile. The insurance paid for most of it and I paid only for a part of it. The work turned out good. The sub-contractor who did the tile work was very good. They talked to us and walked us through the process. It was my first house project and I have been living in this house for so many years. That was very good and they walked us through stuff. The organization and the office were not so good with coordinating between all the different players. That was the only complaint I had and they came through with everything. At the end of it everything was taken care of. I would use them on another project and I have already got a quote from them.
Description of Work: I used the service of Gregg Construction to remodel our house a couple of weeks ago.

We are on day 3! I'll keep the updates coming!
Description of Work: Gregg Construction and Lane Design (James and Jim) came to my rescue following a washer overflow that covered approximately 65% of our home ~ my husband is deployed, and I was overwhelmed thinking that I would have to face this remodel/renovation alone. James and Jim came to my rescue - they have been absolutely amazing to work with, have understood each and every one of my concerns, have helped me to make decisions and have truly protected me and supported me through this process. The crews that they have brought into my home have been respectful, cooperative, and most of all fast and TIDY - although there is always dust with construction, their teams have done all that they can to ensure that I don't have a mess to live with or to clean up at the end of the day. Jim (Lane Designs) has been incredibly helpful in helping me to make the many decisions that I have to reach - all alone. His calm demeanor and supportive nature allows me to view the selections, as we together decide what would be best suited for my taste and our family's living and entertainment style. After getting bids from 4 different contractors, I am so relieved that we selected Gregg Construction - they have been honest, helpful, supportive, and have really taken the lead in this situation which would have been overwhelming to me otherwise. Although the actual construction is just beginning, I feel great confidence that this will be a hugely successful project! We are having ceramic tile removed from the foyer, kitchen, utility room and replacing with Old Chicago brick - the den carpeting will be replaced with brick as well. The office, living room and hall way carpet will be replaced with wood floors. All kitchen cabinets are being replaced, new appliances installed. Most inportantly a large wall between the kitchen and living room has been removed, finally giving us the open living space that we have dreamt of since we purchased this home 10 years ago - it looks absolutely amazing already and we're not nearly done! The scariest part was that our roof was starting to shift because of the height and lack of support bracing at the time of construction ~ Gregg Construction has an amazing framer who came in, in one day, and restructured our roof to support opening up the wall - it was quick and painless, and the fears that we have had over our roof line for some time are finally resolved ~ I shudder to think what COULD have happened if someone with lesser skill would have walked into our home to do this job. James understood that this was a complicated task, and brought in their best framer to quickly resolve the issue, allowing us to move forward with our remodel process - I have 100% confidence in James, Jim, and Gregg Construction, and cannot wait to see the progress as our days go on~
