The project was a full weeks project and he worked both Saturday and Sunday to complete this project on time. I did leave Bill at the house with his helper (Cody) unattended. I had no issues with trust The quality of work is beyond excellent. We are completely pleased and will solicit Bill Ellis for any additional work needed residential or commercial.

+ -1 moreI have no idea if Bill is any good ... he never showed up. We scheduled an estimate for Saturday. Bill called to reschedule for Sunday instead, which was no problem. Then 5 minutes before he was supposed to show up on Sunday, he says he forgot his GPS and needed help getting to my house. From what he said he was about 30 minutes away, max. When an hour had passed and he still didn't show up, I called to see if he got lost and needed more help with directions (he didn't answer, so I left a message). My husband tried to call about an hour later, and Bill still wasn't answering the phone. I gave Bill a chance to call back - several days before I tried calling again. I left a second message giving him a chance to explain what happened before I left a nasty review on here, but still never heard back. I'm done wasting my time with him.

+ 2 moreWe had some termite damage to one of the walls between a bedroom and the kitchen. After we got the all clear that the termites were gone, we had Mr. Ellis come in. He cut a hole in one of the damaged walls and let us know that there was no structural damage, then checked the kitchen cabinets to be sure they were still secure (there are). He then fixed the visible damage to the sheetrock, and was also OK with a few other items I asked him to fix (remove an old bathroom vent - wires and all, and some other sheet rock repair in the rest of the house). He was on time, cheerful, helpful (even helped my husband understand an unrelated plumbing problem) and I was very pleased with the final results of his work. We will definately be using him again in the future.
Description of Work: Inspection for structural damage (from termites) repair of sheet rock and repaint to match the room (4 rooms in all) removal of an old bathroom vent fan and switch

We just wanted some feedback and some estimates. They quoted us around $50000. They seemed professional and there were no complications at all. If needed, we would get another estimate from them in the future.

+ 3 moreWe called Bill based on the other references we read here on Angies List. I dearly love this site and so appreciate others recommendations being put on here. Please if you use this service dont forget to give everyone you use a reference on here as this is the most valuable way for others who pay for it to save a lot of money and find the best people for the job. I read Bill Ellis's references and called him on Wednesday, based on what people said about him. He met us the same week only a few days later and gave us the estimate on Saturday and had the work done on Sunday. He knows we are calling him back out for work on our present home. Very nice and honest person. Very Fair prices!
Description of Work: Bill was out to do repair of items we needed fixed from an inspection report after getting a contract on the home we were selling. Items repaired were minor repairs of our HVAC system, some Electrical work on the circuit breaker by removing hot wires and replacing blank switches in ther circuit breaker. He also removed hot wires from and old Hot Tub which was previously installed outside the kitchen window on our old patio. Bill also repaired ventilation on hot water heater and ventilation covering in our Attic. He also repaired a gas leak on that had gone undetected for a short time inside the home. Bill paired our outside back door and replaced weather stripping. He fixed plumbing leaks. He also Repaired and Replaced bathtub Fixtures which we attempted to do ourselves but had much trouble as the plumbing was not the proper size coming out of the wall to fit the new fixtures. He was great about showing up when we scheduled for him to be there. Bill is a single parent and needed to pick up his child and we were fine with him bringing his child over to the house as he stayed with his dad the whole time he was looking around with us so he coiuld give us the estimate of work to be done. Bill came back the very next day alone and performed all jobs very well and only took approximately half a day. Would recommend him to anyone for all kinds of work under these categories. We will definately use him again as we have some other things we need done in our new home. I will be calling him soon! Thanks Bill, We appreciate everything you have done for us.

+ 2 moreDid an adequate job on the arbor, but did not follow through on other projects he was supposed to do. He said he ordered a door that needed to be replaced at the rear entrance of the garage, but never responded to emails and phone calls as to the delivery date - this went on for 6 weeks. He did not ask for any money up front on the door, so no money was lost. I finally gave up and hired another contractor and had the door and installation within 1 week.
Description of Work: Added 2x2's to arbor over patio and painted arbor to match.

+ 1 moreBill Ellis is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I called him the first week in May and he came out to my house and gave me a quote to perform extensive woodwork. We then set a date and time for him to perform the work. The date was May 18th well over two weeks later. I was not thrilled with the wait time but decided to go with his bid anyway based upon the reviews I'd read. Well, this morning at the time he was suppose to be starting the work on my house, he calls and not only says he won't be coming to my house but wants to push the date another week until May 25th. He knew well in advance that he would not be able to do the work on my house. I was shocked that he would call and say he was not showing up due to a previous engagement he had not finished!! I joined Angie's List so I would not have to deal with inconsiderate contractors such as this. I would have been more understanding if he had called on Monday to say the job he was working on was taking more of his time. I probably wouldn't be this upset if he had even called last night to explain. But to call the morning of and then state it would be another whole week is just beyond reasonable! With this type of service, he should not be allowed to advertise on Angie's List. Wasting people's time should not be tolerated. I thought these contractors had to have good customer service to be listed.
Description of Work: Bill Ellis was suppose to remove rotted wood at the top of our chimney, replace siding on the fireplace and replace other boards around the garage, replace wood boards near the roof line, & paint once the new boards and siding were in place.

+ 2 moreNot only did he make a cabinet of good quality, but it looks exactly like the existing ones. He worked from the time he got here until he left & cleaned up the area every day. We were very pleased with his knowledge, work ethic, & the quality of his work. He gave us a bid & timeline and he finished on budget & on time. We will definitely be using Bill again.
Description of Work: We hired Bill to make a cabinet, 3 cabinet doors, add supports to a bar, & electrical work (installed 2 new outlets, ran 2 new wires from breaker box to kitchen for overhead light & appliance, added switch for overhead light, plug for disposal). The existing bar & cooktop cabinet was inadequate for support for granite countertops, so he re-engineered & constructed it in manner to be able to support the weight of the granite.

+ 0 moreI found Mr. Ellis on Angie's List and asked him if he had experience with drainage solutions for pier and beam homes. He said he did, so I asked him to give me an estimate on a drainage problem. He was quick to assess the situation and offer a solution which sounded acceptable to me. I asked him when he could do the work and how long it would take him. He told me he could start the very next week and would be finished in a day and a half. He never showed but he at least called (belatedly) to tell me he had some other jobs come up. He gave me another date, but again failed to show up. That repeated a third time, at which time I told him I would find someone else to do the work.
Description of Work: Mr. Ellis did not show up three different times he told me he would be able to do the work. Three strikes was all he got.

He is very neat, clean, and professional. We’ve had him put down a floor in the attic and put up a fan. He is sort of a handyman type and he knows his profession very well. He comes in, he is on time, he cleans up, and he’s out of here. I have been very pleased with him and I highly recommend him.

+ 0 moreOverall everything went well. Very please with quality of work, except with the shower floor. When packing around drain, apparently it was not level and he did not level the drain. I noticed while cleaning the show floor prior to use. He did not present a bill of sale for work performed. He said he would mail it to me and I have yet to receive the ticket. He is a nice guy and seems to be knowledgeable. He did everything I asked him to do and more. I would use him again.
Description of Work: Removed and installed tile floor in shower. Reset loose tile and grouted tiles in shower. Pointed out termite damage where tiles had loosened. Straightened and realigned cultured marble side of bathtub. Recauked shower enclousure where it was leaking.

+ 3 moreBill was refered to me by a friend of mine who uses him for all their carpentry needs. I had a leak in the plumbing upstairs that ruined the the wall and floor in the upstairs bathroom, as well as the ceiling and wall in the downstairs. Bill pinpointed the plumbing problem, tore out the wall behind the sink and repaired it. He then tore out the ruined flooring, repaired it, and finished the upstairs by replacing the sheetrock, texturing, and repainting the wall. Then he went downstairs, tore out the ruined ceiling and wall, re-sheetrocked, textured, and painted them too. Looks fantastic!
Description of Work: I had a plumbing leak in the upstairs bathroom that ruined the walls, floors, and ceiling up and downstairs. Bill had to repair the leak, replace the sheetrock, some tile, re spackle, then paint everything again.

Description of Work: I've used Bill for a variety of handyman jobs. (Flooring in the attic, drop lights in the kitchen, putting up a fan.) + 5 moreI called Mr. Ellis and he came out to look over what I wanted done. I had a "honey do" list made out for him. He gave me a price on replacing my mailbox ($125) and came out two days later, as promised and completed the job. He set a later time to come out and complete the other projects ($310) and arrived on time to complete the remainder of my list. I was very pleased with Mr. Ellis! So pleased in fact, I gave his name to my daughter who used him to finish up a bathroom her husband had started but hadn't had time to finish. She was very pleased as well. I would highly recommend him!
Description of Work: Removed and installed a new post and mailbox; installed a new kitchen faucet and repaired leak in the shower handles in main bathroom. Repaired screen door, repaired leak under kitchen sink, installed new commode in master bathroom and painted the wall behind it, replaced outdoor faucets.
