Monday came and went, as did Tuesday and Wednesday. I called on Thursday as our time was running out and we needed the results. The person that answered the phone sounded either tipsy or had just woken up. He covered several points about the house 'doors sticking', foundation crack that had been repaired, etc. None of which we asked him to look at, but nice enough. Then I asked 'What about the hinging in the living room'? His reply 'Oh'. He didn't have an answer for that and tried to play it off, saying that if he could predict whether it would still be standing in 20 years, he'd be in another line of business. Ha ha. And then he gave me the address to send the check. I later explained this to my husband, who over the next few days called and left messages asking for clarification. No one returned the calls. The report was emailed, again with nothing in it addressing the hinging. The inspector (who I have used multiple times, and do trust), was surprised at the service we didn't receive. He said he would find it hard to pay for that report, and explained that this was a home business. The elderly father is the engineer and places his stamp on the report, while the son does the inspections. I withheld payment, feeling that the work I requested was not performed, and therefore, not worthy of payment. True called today. I explained why we haven't made the payment. Over the course of the conversation, his strongest argument was that I 'was one of those people trying to get out of paying for something', which he repeated at least three times. I explained that I'm not, but I that I had requested the inspection of the wall, nothing less, nothing more. I put the payment in the mail begrudgingly, but don't want anyone else to make this same mistake. Beware of this company. Run, don't walk!
Description of Work: When purchasing a home, it came up on the home inspection that the living room wall (2nd story, with high windows) was hinging. This was evidenced by painted paneling that was popping, and laser measurements by our inspector. The inspector recommended both an inspection and the inspector. I contacted True Cousins the week prior to preform the structural analysis, and return the results within our ten day back out period. I also explained that if he would contact me close to finishing, I would drop by with a check. He told me that he would be there around Monday. Our realtor emailed him the inspection report, repeating what area we needed looked at.
