They installed the electric panel as a contractor with Generators and More with very cheap switches. Plus the whole house surge protector I paid and additional $450 for was worthless according to my electrician I had to pay an additional $3000 to fix the panel and put in good switches and a new surge protector. The one installed by Gregory Electric caught on fire and burnt out and turned off all my electricity and my generator for 2 days during the hot summer, causing a lot of damage and expense and frustration. I hope these 2 companies are out of business- they could have burned down my house and they should have been reported to the Texas Energy Board. Ronnie Gregory of Dayton/Huffman is the owner.

Gregory Electric hired Bob with Generators and More to contract out the new 20K Generac Generator and power/switch install. Several issues developed over the course of 2 years due to installation errors, and faulty low quality aluminum switches being used in our panels, both inside and outside by these providers. The first problem occurred when Gregory Electric installed a new gas line to the generator. The City of Houston happened to be out on a "gas smell" call, inspected the install, and told me that it was "installed completely wrong" for the size of the generator, and he drew me a diagram of how it needed to be done. To his credit, Gregory got someone out to fix it as per diagram, at no cost, but this delayed the implementation and proper operation of the generator. Then, during install, we were promised a free service call in 6 months as a courtesy. No one wanted to honor that promise, and both Gregory and Generators and More wrote nasty letters to the BBB denying they'd ever promised a free service call. This call was valued at $35 or $40- Wow. That's certainly a lot of money to cover the cost of to take care of a customer that just spent $12,500 with you! Anyways, because no one wanted to service the generator. I reported them to BBB and Generators and More threw a fit and told them I was lying, etc. etc. Okay so that finally was resolved, in my favor after much nastiness from Bob at Generators and More. However, we learned about 4-5 months ago that we had to replace the full power panel on our generator which was installed by Generators and More and Gregory Electric. Cruz Air and Electric, who now holds our generator maintenance contract came out because the generator panel had gone out in June 2013, it was still under warranty, (but I didn't want to call the bozo who installed it after he had hurled insults at me for no reason over $40). Upon inspecting the generator and panel, they found that: 1. The generator was not grounded properly and therefore likely a spike had knocked out the panel 2. The tranfer switch installed was not the right switch for that particular "Generac Generator" and the compatibility was an issue. 3. The "whole house" surge protector that Gregory had installed at an additional cost of $450, was worthless and basically wouldn't protect even a quarter or a 10th of the load that it was "protecting" and was a "piece of junk" according to Cruz experts. 3. The fuzes in the panel that had been added by Gregory & company, had melted down completely because they were cheap aluminum fuzes below builder grade and made in china (yes, we have photos and a letter from Cruz proving all of this!) This not only caused our power to go out and not to tranfer to the generator, but also had started a meltdown and potentially a fire in our electric panel in our garage that had been worked on by Gregory & company. Cruz said "you are very lucky a fire didn't start in here, especially with all the wood shaving and unprotected wires that are in your panel". Unbelievable. and the work to repair this: $2,950.00, which we paid and did not contact the above because of our prior bad experience when we complained we figured they'd just lie and tell us to go to h*** again or something. Anyways, according to our Cruz specialists who are witnesses, we have a definite case to turn into the Texas Energy Board, we just have not had the time to file it due to a death in the family and some health problems. We would be amenable to talking with these 2 companies to see what sort of settlement they are willing to work out (as in you pay us the cost to repair all of this including the cost we paid to put in a new surge protector that actually protects the house, and we will take down this complaint because we are not here to cause problems but to help solve them. This experience will hopefully provide incentive for these two companies to start providing real qualtiy solutions. It is my sincere wish that they will learn lessons in doing things the right way the first time. And treating customers better will hopefully also be learned by both of these vendors.
Description of Work: Provider estimated and contracted with Generators and More to install a 20K fixed gas generator on a concrete pad outside our home, and also to install a gas line, power switch to transfer the power to and from generator in event of a failure, and re-wired our home's electric panel. They also added a new panel outside near the generator to handle the demand of certain appliances and AC and pool during a power outage, and a "whole house" surge protector at a cost of $450.
