When Robert Cruz launched his career in 1982, he learned a valuable lesson: give the customer more than they expect and you will always have work. While working for the world’s largest construction company, he developed a diverse background in all phases of construction.
Also DBA: CGC Generators
My recent encounters with Cruzs Heating and Cooling have left me incredibly dissatisfied and frustrated as a customer. The recurring issues of unreliable pricing and lack of transparency have led me to conclude that I can no longer support or recommend this company. Allow me to outline the specific concerns that have fueled my disappointment. Initially, Cruzs Heating and Cooling quoted me a reasonable price of $85.00 for the required work. However, upon completion of the job, I was shocked to find that they charged me a staggering $263.00 without any prior explanation or justification. This sudden and significant increase in price is highly unprofessional and reflects a lack of transparency in their business practices. As a customer, I expect clear communication and honesty when it comes to pricing changes. What further compounds my disappointment is that this is not an isolated incident. It is the second time that Cruzs Heating and Cooling has blindsided me with unexpected charges and failed to provide crucial information about the work being done. This lack of transparency undermines trust and reflects a disregard for customer satisfaction. It is disheartening to encounter a recurring pattern of unexplained price hikes and a lack of communication. Based on these repeated instances of poor service, unreliable pricing, and lack of transparency, I cannot recommend Cruzs Heating and Cooling to others seeking reliable HVAC services. As customers, we deserve a company that values honesty, professionalism, and clear communication. I strongly advise prospective customers to explore alternative options that prioritize these essential qualities to avoid similar frustrations and disappointments.

They are definitely an A. We didn't shop around, we've used them for a bunch of stuff and they have always been wonderful. They were here when we had a problem at 9:30 at night to check things out. They are excellent. Definitely an A for professionalism. Absolutely would use in the future.

They are fine. I am going to hire them to do the work I just haven't done it yet. This is the second time I've used this company, and they were as excellent this time as the last. A friend recommended them after I had been charged for unnecessary repairs by another company. Roy was the technician who provided this service call; and he was professional, thorough, and especially patient in answering my gazillion questions. He checked the unit outdoors, the main component in the attic, and each rooms' actual air temperature output. I really appreciated also that he educated me about several things which will ensure my unit's longevity as well as reduce my energy bills. The receptionist who took my call found my record right away, seemed genuinely pleased I was returning for business, and set up my appointment courteously and without delay. It is a pleasure to do business with companies like Cruz, where one can have confidence in the honesty of its staff. Their prices are very reasonable also. I actually didn't have anything wrong with my unit except "operator error"...........I had accidentally put the fan in "continuous" mode instead of "auto". Since I hadn't had my unit checked for a while, it certainly would have been easy enough to tell me I needed Freon (given Houston's weather) and charged me a higher fee; but Roy's integrity is just one more example why I'll ONLY use and recommend this company for any of my AC and heating needs. A+++

After scheduling an estimate visit for Thursday 6/4/15, decided to just do the work and pay their $95/hr to get misc lighting work scheduled for the next day. Internal miscommunication resulted in only an estimate done on Friday so had to back off all other contractors. 4 days later and 5 phone calls, we still have no estimate and no work started...but do have a bill for $180 for the estimate visit. We moved down the Angie's list for other recommended area contractors.

Update 12/2014: I did get a free service call to check my generator finally when Mr. Cruz found out what had been going on with the phone girls who run his office... Update 6/2015: The girls who answer the phones for Cruz electric, including someone named Phoebe are (still) being very rude and won't return my calls or pass on my issues or requests to the owner, Mr. Cruz, who seems very nice. (I wonder if you know how bad these girls are for your business Mr. Cruz)? I had to call a new generator company and pay them for service. I don't think I'll use Cruz anymore sadly. 10/2014: I am very disappointed with their level of customer service, and feel that whoever answers the phones needs to communicate with management better. They appear to be keeping the owners and managers from hearing any complaints about them by either not calling people back, and/or not informing the management of any issues or complaints when customers call. If the management would like a better review, perhaps they should give me a call and talk this out. At this point, I feel that they should offer me some sort of discount on a contract for the issues I had in reaching them and dropping my contract without any notice.
Description of Work: Update Dec 2014: Since this review was written, the company management/ownership called me directly and apologized within the same day this review was posted, so I guess these reviews work! They came out and serviced my generator the same day and didn't bill me, and said they were putting me on a generator contract. Thank you! However... Update in June 2015: I called them again to do an annual generator maintenance (I was willing to pay and thought I still had a contract with them- again no notice they cancelled it!) and apparently the girl who answers the phone doesn't want to deal with me since I complained to the management about her last year. So ONCE AGAIN they are not passing my messages along any longer to the owner and the management. I can get no one to service my generator. Although I appreciate their past help and responsiveness and service, they just undid all the good that they did in Dec. 2014! By getting rid of their great employee Chris,( the owners son), and keeping/hiring the arrogant girls to answer the phones and run the office who don't care about Customer Service at all (phoebe and Elizabeth?), this company which has had a great reputation in the Humble Kingwood area- is probably going under based on my 2 most recent experiences. 5/2013: They repaired/replaced an electric panel and surge protector that another installer, Generators and More, and their partner Gregory Electric (see reviews!), had installed completely incorrectly, and the panel had melted down/started a fire on several of the switches. Cruz Electric (Chris Cruz, the owner's son) did a good job, and I asked them to put me on a generator contract. They did so at a fairly high price, but I was okay with that since they seemed to know what they were doing. However, they never called me to schedule service or a checkup on my generator, I had to contact them every time to come service and/or check my generator. Update 6/2014: But when the contract expired in May, they didn't inform me at all or contact me to renew it, which is very strange from other experiences I've had with similar contracts of this type. I find this disturbing since I had paid so much for a new panel & surge protector (almost $3000), and had a generator contract with them for over a year, and had been a very good customer. When I called them to inform them of my disappointment and surprise that they had let my contract lapse without discussing it with me or notifying me of this, the girl who answers the phones made it seem like it was all my fault. I have requested 3 or 4 times in the past month and a half since before Thanksgiving 2014 that the owner, Mr. Cruz, who has personally worked on my generator, give me a call. They are not passing these messages on to him, and no one has bothered to even call me back. This is terrible customer service, especially since I have now spent over $3000 with their company and still have had no one check my generator or bother to even care enough to call me back since May of 2014 and it's now almost January 2015. There really is just no excuse to treat your good customers like this unless you are disorganized, and/or you have poor staff working your phones who are not relaying messages/complaints or information to the management.

Called for appointment 3 weeks prior, set up for 11am- 1pm arrival - took off work, called to confirm time and was told 5pm arrival - the girl that I spoke seemed very incompetent, didn't know what my appointment was for and didn't see notes of official reschedule - at 330pm, received call from owner stating that crew would be 2 hours late, asking if the date could be moved altogether - we told him "No" due to waiting all day and he basically didn't argue or attempt to keep our business - hung up on! Very weird experience and wasted time/effort. Don't even bother trying to set an appointment with these guys!!!

The tech Jessie went out of his way to repair my extra filtration system that Church Services had just put an ill fitting filter in. Jessie repaired my Trane a/c that was leaking freon. Jessie also performed my annual maintenance on the system. I had a new Trane put in by Church Services (I have 2 units) when it was installed I asked for a filter replacement and they put in one that left a 6and quot; gap. It was good that Jessie caught that because I had no idea. I was having tile installed when Jessie came out. It is a good thing he caught that BIG mistake because my coil was completely exposed. If anyone has had tile removed, there is A LOT of dust and could have cost me a lot of money! I will use Cruz A/C and electric again. I was so impressed w/Cruz A/C that I asked about a maintenance agreement. I will never use Church Services again. They were a problem from beginning to end!

I called midday on a Friday and the operator was very knowledgeable and helpful re: Generac home generators. An on-call technician (all their techs are Generac-certified and registered electricians) was available late in the day, so I set my appointment for 4:30 p.m. While there was a misunderstanding in the appointment time (verified at 4:30 p.m., maintenance supervisor thought it was a two-hour window from 4:30 to 6:30; a phone call and very professional and courteous exchange rectified the situation and the company more than made up for any inconvenience). Chris M. was the tech who arrived for the appointment -- professionally dressed, clean commercial vehicle. FYI - CGC Generators is the company which provides these services as a division of Cruz Electric. Chris spent all the time necessary walking me through the operation of the generator, identifying what is connected to it, oil/battery checks, recommended maintenance, warning signs, etc., etc., etc. The generator was installed in 2009 and we purchased the home in 2012. After substantial renovations and additions, we're in the house, but needed to know how to work an automatic transfer generator. After Chris' visit, I feel completely comfortable with the generator and know what we need to do/look for on the unit. This was an excellent experience and I signed up for a two-year maintenance contract (discounts offered for more than one year). Additionally, Chris is a veteran and we support any company/organization who hires our nations' heroes. Thank you!!!

I asked him how long it would take and he said about three hours. I then asked what his hourly rate was and he said they did not have an hourly rate. I am a retired contractor and was a licensed plumbing contractor in California and as such was licensed to do electrical wiring for pumps and hot water heaters. I paid the service call fee and told him I was getting a second opinion. He then told me that if they did the work he would deduct the service call fee from the final bill. I had to go out of town for a couple of weeks and when I returned I called another company my son recommended. They came out made that repair and also repaired a recessed light fixture in the house in approximately forty five minutes for a total price of $100.00
Description of Work: I asked the technician to give me a price for replacing a burned wall plug in my garage. There is a sub panel in the garage that controlled that outlet but the tech insisted he needed to inspect the main panel in the house. He then went in the attic of the garage and after coming down he went to his truck and prepared a bid which stated there were a ton of problems and told me they needed to fix them all to restore the power to the outlet in question. His bid price was $750.00.
