Leon was very professional and great to work with. He arrived on time and did a thorough examination of the a/c system.

It went very well. He was punctual and courteous. He didn't try to up-sell. My only concern was that I would have liked a written report for the inspection which he didn't provide.

Overall outstanding experience. Leon was on time and made sure to check in with me earlier in the day to confirm the scheduling. Throughout the job, Leon was unceasingly friendly, courteous, professional, and helpful. Every step of the way, at my request, he gladly explained to me what he was doing, why he was doing it, and what steps I could take to improve the efficiency and durability of the system in the future. The pricing was fair and transparent. Altogether, a great job at a great price performed by a careful, thorough, and personable professional--what more could you ask for? Would (and currently do) recommend his services to my friends and co-workers.

Everything went smooth and well. He was friendly, helpful, polite and courteous.

This was the 2nd time Leon worked on my two A/C units. He was very polite and walked me through the work that needed to be done to fix my A/C unit.

Use to use him all the time and he did very good work, however the last two times he came out we had a problem. We have two A/C/ units the small unit in the attic was acting up after he worked on it and the fan needed to be replaced along with a relay switch. He installed the new fan without the switch and had to replace it again. We gave him the benefit of the doubt since we had used him before several times. We called him back out for a problem with the downstairs unit. We had purchased this unit from him two years prior and he installed it. He told us the compressor was shot and we needed a new unit. We could either replace the compressor and a few other things for $1,800 or the unit for $3,600. I got a second opinion from a friend and was told all that was wrong was a few switches and a relay that should only be between $250 low end but not more than $500. We have disappointed and have lost confidence in Leon to say the least. It saddens me to have to wright this review.

Timely, good service, fair price.

Went well. We would hire him again. The vents were cut neatly and the new unit works well. He was professional and dropped by regularly to inspect. Though his employees were not always punctual, young guys especially, they were always respectful and did careful work. If you use him, make sure his estimate is detailed and in writing. I did not and the bill ended up being $2.5K more than expected, negotiated down to $1.8K over. Leon seems honest though; I think we just had a misunderstanding. Even still, he was likely the same or cheaper than the big guys. Would call again.

My A/C unit was old and I knew I would need a replacement sooner rather than later but I was hoping it would make it through one more summer. I starting doing research months in advance because it was going to be a large purchase. I researched brands, equipment, options and even called in to several radio home improvement shows to ask questions of the "experts". One conclusion that I came to was that the most important part of any new A/C purchase was actually picking the contractor. The installation,design and startup process are more important than the brand. I got Leon Ortega A/C and Heating through a recommendation from another contractor that was doing some electrical work for me (also an Angie's List contractor). I called Leon and he came out in a couple of days. He surveyed my old equipment and even got up into our attic and took pictures of problems with our ductwork with his I-Pad and showed them to me. We talked about many different options for the replacement and I asked ALOT of questions. Leon was very patient and did a great job helping me understand my options. He was never pushy and didn't try to upsell me on anything. Leon followed up in a timely manner with pricing and recommendations. I got several other bids, some from Angie's list contractors and some from companies I had heard on the home improvement shows. Some were from big, corporate companies and some were from small independents. Some of the bids were higher than Leon's and some were lower. In the end, I decided on Leon because I felt he was honest, dependable, and would do quality work. I also prefer working with smaller, independent companies over large corporate ones because I feel you get better customer service. Before I had the chance to schedule the installation, my old unit starting acting up. I came home one afternoon to a very hot house. I called Leon and he came out within a couple of hours and figured out a way to keep it running until we had time to do the new install. And he didn't even charge me! The installation was done a couple of weeks later. It was a two day process and went very smoothly. He has two gentlemen who do the install and they were very polite and efficient. They did a great job. Leon came out on the second day and made sure I was happy with everything. We previously had many issues with rooms being hot and poor airflow. After Leon was done, everything worked great! I even had him come out after the fact and make some adjustments and change the size of a vent and he was very accommodating. I would highly recommend Leon Ortega A/C heating for any new installation or even for just routine maintenance and repairs. He does quality work at a fair price.

Was pleasant experience. Just moved to area about 8 months ago. In a rental and was not sure who to have look into air condition not working. Look at previous review and like what I read. I made a phone call to Leon left message and was surprise got a call aback within next 30 minutes. Easy to talk to on phone and made arrangements to come out that by 3. He was on time and friendly. Check the unit and found that air filters had not been changed and a long time also need blown out for water trap. I though "da-a I could forget check something as simple as air filter" but said ok better safe than sorry to have it look at and problem was breathing correctly. And since was here he could just make sure that it ran smoothly for me. Finish fast after checking everything and gave a bill of only $100.00 for a same day visit and service. Being from the Northeast I really live that low cost on what would have been called emergency service. Will call again if needed.

Woke up today (a Saturday) to a non-working A/C system, where the fan was operating correctly but the outside unit wouldn't engage. Of course this happens on a Saturday and I am therefore expecting to pay a significant call-out/service fee. I tried calling several local companies (Houston) which are among the best-rated on Angie's List (300+ A reviews) and confirmed this was the case - some companies asking over $250 just to come out - and even then not until the evening of the same day!! I then called Leon Ortega A/C & Heating who promptly answered the phone and quoted a very reasonable call-out fee to come and assess then problem. I was very impressed with the prompt response, and Leon arrived within one hour of the initial call (as he said he would). Leon had a very professional and courteous manner and quickly diagnosed the problem and the estimated cost to repair (within 2mins of getting the cover off the unit). He had the part (a capacitor) on his truck and completed the entire repair within 45mins. Leon was happy to chat throughout the repair and at no point gave the impression of trying to upsell any aspect of the repair. Overall I got the impression of a hard-working professional, who completed the repair in a very reasonable timeframe and cost (much less than competitors) and would strongly recommend his services. I'll certainly be using him again when it comes time to service my A/C in the spring.

I had previously been told that the entire A/C unit had to be replaced. I called Leon Ortega for a second estimate. Within minutes of inspecting the A/C system, Leon informed me that the unit was working well. The problem was simply a defective thermostat. He removed the old thermostat, showed me why it was not working properly and replaced it with a new digital model. The fan now works properly when in auto mode, and the A/C unit once again keeps my house nice and cool! I appreciated Leon's honesty and will definitely have him replace the A/C unit when it really needs replacement!

Leon was suggested to us by our electrician, Danny from Thor. We had been working with a different company that is highly rated on Angie's list and had a so-so feeling about them. This company had been out a few times before this year, and told us in the most recent visit that we could fix the problem for $1000 (new panel) or they would discount a new system from $13k to $12k. Before acting on their advice, we thought to get a second point of view. The previous contractor left our home without getting the AC running. In July. Yikes.Leon came out and immediately got the system running to cool down the house. He came out very quickly and tried to explain the problem to us, which we appreciated. He saw what the other group saw, a blown control panel, but thought the problem might go deeper. He soon figured out that the short we had (Danny from Thor fixed) was fine electrically but had shorted out our furnace, to which the electrical panel is attached. He told us a new panel wouldn't solve the problem, as he had tried putting a new panel on and it didn't work. What we needed was a new furnace and new panel, but not a new system. He discounted by $300 and threw in a new thermostat to boot.Leon has a small operation, but wants to wow his customers and increase his business through Angie's list. I am proud to recommend him and hope he will see many new customers. Seems like a good guy and I really think he did us right.
