+ 6 moreCarl tried to minimize our pain while we lived in the remodel. He left the carpet pad while the drywall work was being done so we were not walking on concrete. His cabinet maker is a genius and makes everything to specification. The tile man put down more than a 1000 sq feet of tile and did it beautifully. Essentially, the entire house was renovated. Every room was touched. Carl kept an eye on cost. We loved the granite in our other house, but he pointed out how much more expensive it was than other choices, especially since we had so much more square footage to replace. Given his pay is a percentage of the work done, he has no incentive to control your options, but he is always aware of the price escalation. There is an order to all the construction and Carl manages his people to keep things on schedule. As before, there was always someone on site who spoke English. Everyone worked with keeping our pets safe and let them in and out as needed. We would work with Carl Pipes again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: This was our second remodel with Carl Pipes. We gutted the kitchen, removed master bath cabinets, replaced the bathroom mirror, put granite countertops in the bathrooms, redid the shower door, replaced tile and some wood flooring with tile, replaced bedroom carpet with new carpet, arched the kitchen opening, arched dining room columns, closed in a doorway to make a closet, replaced an attic entrance, added a dry bar in an otherwise useless wall space and redid the 2 door garage into a one big door opening. Then every wall surface, the garage door and built in shelves were repainted. The kitchen was the true challenge. Tile had to be removed, we had to figure out how to get gas into the kitchen and replace the electric cooktop and we rearranged the cabinets and appliances and moved the island. Carl patiently worked with us and his contractors until we figured out how to make it all work. We also replaced the fans and all the hardware in the house. Going to Carl's was easier than anywhere else and simplified my choices. If you need 400 choices, he will let you go to a hardware store, I was happy with his selection. Carl is there every step of the way. He checks on his workers, answers calls promptly and explains everything in detail. He even fixed my garbage can when the city collectors tore off the wheels. It would not occur to him to leave anything unfinished.

+ 10 moreIt was a long 4 months, but we got our roof back before any of our neighbors, thanks to Carl Pipes and our insurance company. The interior work took time because of the quality work. Cabinets are made on site. Communication was constant, never had to wonder where anyone was. Carl came by to check on his people frequently. Every suggestion I made was met with respect. We moved the fridge and raised the dishwasher, and they made it work so perfectly.
Description of Work: Carl Pipes did all the repair work on our house after Hurricane Ike. He met with the insurance agent when the agent was finally able to get to town. He was wonderful and all his subcontractors were professional, polite, on time and courteous. They also all spoke English so communication was no problem. The house was so much better than before. We had a new kitchen, cabinets and countertops, new floor in the living room, new roof, new walls and window sills, new linen closet in the bathroom, new display shelf in the study, new screened in porch and fresh paint in all the damaged areas. They opened up the walls in the kitchen to make it flow better and moved the refrigerator to make the space more functional. When the micro storm went through in June, we had some more roof damage. He sent his guys out and fixed it quickly. We are buying a new house and he will be doing all the renovations there. I recommend him to everyone.
