I've had much better experience with them in the past then today. He installed 2 outlets and a house surge protector and it cost me over $800. I had no idea it was going to cost that much because they never gave me an estimate and just went ahead and did the job without checking first. He got grease all over my walls and cabinets and sawdust was all over the floor.

Very slowly. Technician did not seem to have experience in this installation. We supplied the mounting system, he spent much time reading the directions and making trips out to his truck. The company would not quote the job hours before hand, we never anticipated 4.5 hours of labor. Then he left as my husband was programming it, we had no channels. We finally thought it was a cable problem, they made a service call to find the cable was never plugged in during installation. Our appointment was for 9:00 am on a Saturday he began calling at 7:10am numerous times for directions. He arrived an hour early. Overall not a good experience, the TV did get mounted and works now so it's fine, but we paid 5times the going rate and have a cable charge as well.

They were really good. They guys they sent out was really good and the salesman. They were there exactly when they said they were going to be there. Ryan was very professional in coming out and quoting the job.
Description of Work: They moved my generator from my old house to my new house. And wired it up to the electrical panel. They had to do electrical and gas. It's a gas generator worked off natural gas. They just had to hook it up from the line to the generator. There was a problem with the generator the battery had died I guess. I ordered one and got it out to them. They installed that also, which was not on the list. So, they had done a little bit more.

I canceled the check the next day because I was not paying to have the job unfinished. When I spoke with Wired Electrical, they agreed to only charge me $400 for the work that was already done and I paid them the $400 that they asked for. I also filed a complaint with the BBB and when they found out that I had filed the complaint, I received a very threatening email from Wired Electrical. They stated that "Everything was fine until you filed that complaint. Now we are putting a lean on your house for the full amount unless you remove that complaint". This is how they have good reviews, they threaten you until you removed the bad reviews.
Description of Work: I hired Wired Electrical to do some work in my house. When the technicians left, the lights didn't even work and they never finished the job.

I was not sure if I had wired a ceiling fan properly and needed the assistance of a professional. This is the 3rd time I have used Wired so I was aware their pricing is on the high side but their work is high quality. 1 hr of labor was $149.00. Service fee is built into the labor. They used to have a $75 service fee and $70/hr labor rate. They are punctual and the electricians I have had have been very professional and have done a good job. I called them for this service because the circuit board that they installed 4 yrs ago was buzzing and one of the circuit breakers was tripping. Based on what I had researched it sounded like a breaker was going bad. Since they installed the board, I contacted them to look at it because the board was still in the warranty period. I was not sure what part of the board may be going bad, so I was not sure if it was under warranty( the 5 yrs only applies to certain things) .The electrician identified 2 breakers to replace so I agreed to have him do so. Unfortunately, they were not covered under the warranty and when he handed me the bill I was surprised to see that Wired was charging me $95 each for the breakers. OUCH. The electrician did apologize that he did not give the me the pricing up front. My ratings are based on the following Overall C - because they were not upfront with the price of the breaker before they installed it or give me options. One of the breakers was an AFCT type and one was not. Had I known how much the AFCT breakers cost, I would not have replaced the non AFCT breaker with an AFCT breaker. I know I could have asked before he installed them so no need to point that out. Price F - Although I can not find the exact breaker pricing, I find similar ones ( same manufacture, same rating, same amps etc) that run between $40-$60 retail( I'm guessing Wired gets parts at wholesale so they pay even less) Seems like $95 is an excessive markup, especially when they are already charging top $$ for labor. I know that I could have purchased the breaker and had them install it but I could not find the exact replacement breaker and don't know enough about electrical to know if something simiar would work. I did buy the outlets they replaced as they were basic 15amp outlets. Professionalism B - the person who answers the main line could use some phone skills. The electrician was professional. BOTTOM LINE - If you know the parts you need, you should purchase them upfront and just pay the labor. If you do have to purchase the parts from them, ask the price upfront and find out if there are any options for a less expensive part. In my case maybe a non AFCT breaker would have been less expensive?? There is no shortage of high priced, high quality electrical companies in Houston, so shop around for specials that are going on. I went with Wired because of the warranty. I used to be loyal to Wired but based on this experience, I plan to shop around next time I need non warranty work.

In replacing the floor outlet cover, they loosened and (we later discovered) broke part of the casing of the outlet. Because of this the outlet cover came up. When asked to come out and honor their warranty, their tech informed me that if I wanted the part that they broke replaced, they would charge me. When I protested this on the phone, the manager I was put in touch with said that this problem would require jackhammering up my floor. Since the tech had just told me that this was fixable with a part from Home Depot, I was obviously upset. The manager hung up on me and is now avoiding my phone calls. Use these guys at your peril. Response Jan 28th: All deficincies in Wired's work, including the GFCI issue and the broken part, were identified by licensed professionals, including their own second tech, rather than my subjective opinion. The explanation offered by their owner after the fact is that of someone who has not been to the house or seen the items in question, and disagrees with the opinions of people who have been to the house and judged their work. I certainly did raise my voice on the phone, after being continually interrupted, after voices were raised at me, and because of their discourtesy, mansplaining, and attempts to weasel out of their warranty. The fact that they would find my promise to review them on Angie?s List to be some sort of threat is telling. If you are a person who believes that busy mothers of young children pick random victims off Angie?s List to 'yell and scream at' ?for no reason', this is definitely the company for you! If, on the other hand, you believe that companies should stand behind their work and correct their mistakes, steer clear of these jokers.

Response from Wired Electrical Services
We were hired by [member name removed] to work on a few items in her house on a Time and Material Basis on 9/29/14 to repair items on a inspection list that needed to be repaired. One of those items was a GFCI outlet in master closet that feeds a Spa tub in Master bathroom. We changed this GFCI outlet and the other item in question was a brass floor box cover in wood floor had the brass cover was broken off that you shut when it is not in use. She called and yelled at my service manager earlier in the week and demand we get out the right away to repair the GFCI outlet for the Spa tub and said the floor box brass cover was loose. She just kept on yelling and screaming at us for no reason at all. He did everything he could to be polite to her. We told her when she was on the phone that the GFCI probably just needed to be reset but she would not even listen to us and insisted that it was a plug under the Spa tub that was the problem. After trying to talk to her in a polite manor she was just talking to me Service manager in a rude and unprofessional manor. My service manager finally was able to set up the apt, with her after 3pm 1/15/15. She also made the comment that the original guy was on drugs or something to that effect and did not want him back. FYI this is not the case at all with this employee and he is one of the best electricians you will find.So I sent a new very knowledgeable service tech out to her house to look at the problems she claim she had. Upon arrival we found that the GFCI to the spa was tripped just like we tried to tell her in the master closet and we pushed the reset button on the outlet and it worked fine. Then he went and looked at the floor outlet and found that when he pulled the brass cover off and removed the outlet to see why it was loose discovered that the plastic ring that the brass plate was screwed to was broken. Under further investigation we found that there was not a plastic floor box for the outlet that the plastic ring goes into. We advised her that the original installation of the ring and outlet which we did not install was done incorrectly and when we told [member name removed] about this she just started yelling and screaming at us! At this time I got on the phone with [member name removed] and advised her that the work that the previous homeowner had done was incorrect and we could not just put a new plastic ring in and screw it to the wood floor. This is a serious fire hazard and needed to be repaired correctly. She continued to yell and scream at me and said if I did not repair it at my cost she was ready to report us to Angies List. She made the cooment to my service manager that she was ready to report us. It tried to explain to her that it was not done correctly and she just continued to yell at me. All we did the first time we were there was replace the cover plate and since it was not loose we did not take the outlet out of the floor and see the improper installation. It was not until the plastic ring broke from either something being moved and hit the plug or being stepped on. I tried to tell her the proper way it needed to be fixed but she insisted that she new how to fix and and that I did not. Finally after 5 min of being yelled at and seeing that there was not anything I could do to please her I ended the conversation.

Where to begin with these guys? First and foremost, their technician cut an outlet-sized hole in a VERY conspicuous location in my kitchen without informing me that it would be necessary. The estimator, who had come a few days before, assured me that the only drywall damage necessary would be behind my refrigerator, which I was fine with. At no point did he mention damaging drywall anywhere else even though we spoke specifically about it for several minutes. When I complained to the technician that I was unhappy about him creating a hole in my wall and asked what he planned to do about it, he essentially laughed in my face and told me that the company is in no way responsible for repairing drywall. He had a very unprofessional and dismissive attitude toward my frustration. I called the company while the technicians were still working in my home to complain about the unexpected drywall damage and ask for compensation. To make a long story short, whoever I spoke to (supervisor? owner?) basically called me a liar, and said that the estimator had told me that drywall damage would be required in places other than behind the fridge. The truth is that in no way, shape, or form did the estimator and I discuss drywall damage anywhere other than specifically behind the fridge. The owner refused to offer me any sort of compensation for the damage (or even an apology/explanation) over the phone. Other fun facts: 1) The technician showed up on time, but the apprentice that was supposed to be helping him was an hour and a half late. They didn't charge me for that lost time after I complained, so....OK I guess? 2) The technician spent the first 15-20 minutes in my house making a series of what sounded like personal phone calls. 3) The technician left dirt smudges all over the wall in 2 locations where he worked with no effort whatsoever to clean up after himself. 4) Finally, my own GFCI testing device indicates that the outlets this company installed are basically everything but correct. They do all work (in that a lamp plugged into them lights up), but I've identified numerous problems with grounding, GFCI resets, and so on. To be fair, these may have been existing issues because my house is very old and I didn't test every plug before the work was performed. But I feel strongly that a truly professional electrician would have identified these issues and brought them to my attention so as not to call their own work into question. If nothing else, it would have been good business sense to do so, because I might have paid them to fix it while they were here. Regarding #4, I called the company a few days after the work was done because they supposedly "guarantee" their work for 5 years. I asked them to come and fix any problems that they created, since my assumption in paying them $800 was that I would have 5 new properly wired and grounded outlets. However, I was told that the policy is that if they identify the problem as something they caused, the work is covered, but that if it's not, I must pay for the visit to check. Clearly, this sort of "guarantee" is worthless to a customer who is not a trained electrician. Since I am not, I personally have no way of knowing whether the issue was caused by Wired Electrical or existed before they performed any work. Essentially, they could come to my house, tell me anything they want to make up about the cause of the problem, and then charge me for the privilege of hearing it.. In summation, I received what I feel was very sloppy work, performed by an unprofessional and dismissive technician, by a company that called me a liar when I complained about unanticipated damage they caused. It's a trifecta. How these guys have a positive rating on Angie's List is an absolute mystery to me. Avoid at all costs.

The first technician was very slow. He started on the garage ceiling lights and it soon became clear that he did not know what he was doing. At my urge he called the office and they must have guided him through it. It took over three hours to finish this job. He then changed an electrical outlet in the garage, installed a timer for the front door light and reset a timer for the garage outdoor lights. The next day we realised that the timers are not working. We called the office and they sent another electrician who reset the timers. One of them is working now, the other is still not working. We called the office again and they refused to take responsibility for fixing the timer. They provide a two year guarantee on their work and the manager said it does not apply since we didn't buy the timer from them. When I said they are a service company and the guarantee should apply on the service provided the manager had no convincing answer except to say that they already tried to fix it once. Clearly this is not a credible company. To fix the timer they want to charge their outcall rate as if it is a new job. I already paid over $ 600 for minor repairs which a good electrician knowing his job should have been able to complete in 1/3rd of the time. This company has low professionalism besides lacking any crdibility for not standing behind their guarantee.

Ryan (Estimator) showed up on time to perform a walk through of the area to be worked on. I received an estimate for the work at the promised time. When I decided to proceed with the work quoted we scheduled the work and Ryan (Electrician) showed up on time for the installation day. All work was done to my satisfaction. We did have a bit of a mess on our hands with insulation from the attic above the kitchen, but Ryan cleaned up as much as possible. Overall we were satisfied with the work performed and would use Wired Electrical Services in the future.

My overall experience was good. It is a very professional company. The salesman that came out was very knowledgeable. A couple of other electrical companies that I have talked to kind of gave me the impression that the electrical would be routed out outside the garage than up to the attic and down likely costing a couple of thousand dollars. They were able to find a way to do it for the $550 by changing up some of the breakers in my electrical panel and branching off an existing line in my lower garage. It was a dryer 220 outlet. So, it was a bigger wall outlet. The salesman came out and talked in a certain way with a certain cost. The service person that came out to do the work was a bit unclear of what the salesman originally quoted me. That technician gave me the impression that it would not be able to be done that way. I expressed concern. There was some sort of back and forth about what could be done versus what they said could be done. The salesman came back out, went over the work with the technician, cleared up the issues, and they were able to do it as originally intended and all that was cleared up in a matter of hours. They were very prompt addressing the issue.
