The young man was very nice, but the charges were very high. We would not call this company again.

Will gave me honest answers. My fridge works now and I know exactly what needs to be done for a long term solution to my problems.

Very prompt service with good communication of the issues and thorough job fixing the problem.

It went great! Price was right and electrician did excellent work and found other things needed to be done and did them.

TOO EXPENSIVE - BEWARE OF THEIR DISPATCH FEE.

This is a very old house that they were working in and they seem to know what they were doing. I have used them twice and they just seem to be really good. The charge was also fair, each time I used them.

Came out, but said that, I really needed a heating and a/c service provider to come out for that work, will use his company whenever I need electrical work done.

I have a really old 1930 house and they specialized in old houses. I found that to be impressive. The owner is the one who came out to do the work and he was very informative on what was going on. He showed up when he said he was going to and he got the job done really fast.

He told us we had a fire hazard because the panel box was outdated and that it could burn down the house any day. He said due to the panel box he would have to charge us $600 for the four prong dryer switch because it would be a code violation to put one in with the existing panel box. I called another company. They said the panel was old but in no danger of burning us out. The dryer plug, turned out to be a $70 job. I felt that that universal was trying to scare me into a big job.

We weren't very happy with this contractor. It wasn't totally bad, but they sent someone who was inexperienced and we had to have him come back several times.

I called Universal and that very day a technician met me to give me an estimate. The work was scheduled and began 3 days later. The price was a great deal higher than the 3 other estimates that I had received previously from others (2 of which are also on Angie's List). However, at this point, I was more concerned that the job would be completed with a thoroughness that I could trust and completed in a timely manner.

We had three estimates, Universal was in the same range so it was their service that sold us. They returned calls, arrived when promised for estimate, were friendly and professional and had suggestions on ways to do it for less money (I appreciated that they shared ideas to keep costs down). They started work as promised, took a day and a half as they said - despite rain - and walked us through the set-up afterwards. As an aside, they were the only vendor who urged digging trenches 18" deep "to code", other two contractors who gave estimates said there was no minimum depth required by code and said 6" was fine. I couldn't confirm code but I liked that Universal urged us to dig these deep trenches despite the fact that it made it harder for their workers to lay the conduit, they had nothing to gain. I got the distinct impression that quality was very important to them. We felt that if we had searched more, we could have found a better price but these guys were worth it.

The guys who performed the work were very courteous and professional. They showed up on time and explained exactly what they were going to do. Their willingness to answer my questions set my mind my at ease. I was able to concentrate on my other tasks. I thought the price was a little high though.

This was a lot of electrical work, this company worked with us. The inspectors came out and told the company they had to do something slightly different on a couple occasions. They were very responsive in coming back. They were very friendly and good about explaining things to us in that a way that we could understand. I would use them again.

Will was excellent. A pleasure to work with. So much so that I didn't even mind spending about eight times what I had expected. He explained my options every inch of the way. Couldn't ask for better.

At 11pm, the power went out in half of the house. We called around to several of the companies on Angie's List, & Universal was able to send someone out that same day. He quickly diagnosed it as a bad circuit breaker. They found the replacement and put it in that same day. Overall, it seemed to go pretty well. However, our next door neighbor used to have an electrical supply business before retiring & was able to walk us through what was happening. He predicted the circuit breaker for our house would be more expensive than usual, about $150. Universal charged $250. He also predicted it would take 30 minutes to replace the breaker, so he said Universal was making about $800/hr.(installation was about $400). It took 15 minutes, so I guess they made $1600/hr. The technician also noticed the ground was not connected, but it actually took my wife and neighbor to find it and ask him to connect it. I guess I would have thought this went well, but my neighbor thinks it was really pricey.

Called them, made an appointment, they were prompt. The repairman was professional and courteous, and did the work in a very timely fashion. He provided advice on problems with outdoor electrical plugs.

They were a life saver. They came in quickly and solved some initial problems temporarily in time for a party I was hosting for 50 people. Then they came back and finished the job. They were very professional, very clean (although a few items in my home were broken during the project), a pleasure to deal with and they always made sure all the essential lighting was operational by the time I got home so that I was able to live in the house comfortably during the 2 week project.

I lost power in half the house. Hal arrived within an hour of my calling and checked the breaker box and immediately found the problem. He showed it to me and had the replacement part with him. Because my house was constructed in the 1950's, I also asked him to give the electrical wiring in the house a general inspection and he pointed out some things that weren't up to code and gave me an estimate of the cost to fix them. Very informative, no pressure to allow him to fix them on this call. Pleasant experience. I'll call them back.

They sent someone out within two hours of our call. They were stuck in traffic & were going to be 20-30 minutes late and called to let us know. When here, they explained what the problem was, what needed to be done, and quickly took care of it. They gave us a fee schedule so we knew we were paying appropriately. They were very polite and friendly, and I would definitely recommend them, and will use them again in the future.

Electrician was very polite. The prices on their sheet seemed reasonable. I liked that they had all their charges written on this sheet, so there were no questions about what a particular kind of work would cost. The only thing that was an issue was that the work was delayed 5 days.

They were extremely professional and always on time and on budget. We changed some of the requirements half way through the project and they worked with us on the new pricing before the work was completed. The work was done in a very efficient and timely manner.

Besides the price being higher than other estimates, I also felt like there was too much of an attempt to ''up sell'' and have other work done.

Jon Blaylock arrived later than the dispatched stated he would arrive, but he called to notify me of his expected arrival time. He took the time to explain the work to me and to review their "Straight Forward Pricing" plan. He reviewed his work with me and answered my questions. The person who took my call stated the technician would have the discretion to waive the $59 service/travel fee. This was a bit misleading as Jon explained to me he could only do this if the work exceeded a total of $600. Jon worked into the evening. It seemed to take a long time to complete this short list of repairs.

The overall experience was great. The receptionist was very courteous and knowledgeable and even offered to send out an electrician that afternoon, even though I didn't need anyone until the following day. The electrician arrived on time, was uniformed and very professional. He gave me a written quote in less than 5 minutes and got right to work. He went about his business very quickly with no nonsence and was finished in less than an hour. He cleaned up after himself and was willing to answer all of my questions and even gave me some free advice on a DIY project I was working on. The only negative was I thought the price was a little high, however, let me say that I agreed to the price ahead of time and that I was unable to do it myself. So, I had to pay the price. I would definitely use this company again.
