The company was very professional from the start to the finish of the inspection. The representative from the company was very knowledgable and answered all questions. He was not pushy or demanding. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

I had them out for an estimate when they were UniversaL Wiring. I did not hire them to do the work. The electrician who came out to give me a free evaluation of electrical needs was a very slick salesman. He recommended a lot of work and the prices were very high. When I told him that I could not afford the thousands of dollars of repairs that he was recommending (even using the payment plan that he touted) he scaled back his recommendations and then began to cut the price on everything. I asked if he worked on commission and had leeway on pricing he told me yes (at least he was honest) -- it was kind of like dealing with a car salesman

It is rare these days that a contractor turns up on time and finishes the work in less time than planned.

I was very happy in my ignorance when the job was finished. Then my electrician friend visited and pointed out all the errors and the overcharging and now I just feel like an idiot.

They came out and checked my units. This deal was only the basic service, so not everything inspected, but the guy did check a few items not included as a courtesy. Very professional and very good.

The experience overall was good and I was able to get the panel box repaired that I knew wasa problem but did not know who to contact.

The elctrician checked the breaker box and said that he does not have enough room to install the surge protection. He then tried to sell me to add another breaker box for $1800. Needless to say I did not want to spend that kind of money. He then tried to sell me some other services. I did not buy into it. Angies List refunded me the money. It just happened that another vendor offered the same service for $150 a little later and succeeded in installing the surge protection device in the same breaker box.

I called Universal Wiring to heave them come out to ground an outlet that was previously grounded to a galvanized cold water line that was replaced due to a leak. As this outlet was in my kitchen, I needed it fixed the next day. Universal Wiring was not able to get an electrican out until 4 days later despite saying they offer 24 hour service. Therefore, I went with another service provider who could meet my schedule.

It was perfect. Arrived on time. Completed the work quickly. Cleaned up. I was delighted.

Everything was great. Very professional and everything was done quickly. My tenants were happy and so was I. I would definitely use them again.

I purchased an inspection from Angie's List and the company used it as a sales leader. I won't buy anymore things from the Angie's LIst system anymore because it's a scam for the contractor to get a starting place they use to up-sell a lot more. This is a negative against Angie's LIst for promoting and allowing this to occur. I was quite disappointed, but must admit the Universal Electric worker behaved in a very professional manner and I believe that he did good work. My warning is to be careful when purchasing services from a Angie's List special buy.

I have now used Universal Wiring (now called Universal Home Experts) twice and would not hesitate to use them again--or highly recommend them to anyone needing electrical repairs. The problem I had was not an electrical problem, per se, but a failure of the equipment provided by Centerpoint Energy. It was quickly resolved by the power company, but more importantly to me, Dennis remained at my house until the repair was complete.

Man was on time and very professional. He explained everything he did, and also recommended certain repairs.

The guy came out and immediately told me that I needed to replace everything in my house for approximately $3000 or something like that. I immediately did not trust him after that. He never even addressed the issue I was having which was my breaker box going off about once every 3 months due to my air conditioner. I asked him if he could change out the switches or whatever in my breaker box and he refused. I thought this inspection was a waste of time and I will get a second and third opinion before I have that type of work done and would definitely not use this company. If he had been more accomodating and tried to address my breaker box situation I would probably think more positively of this company. I felt he was trying to get business and not address my problem.

They were courteous and on time. Check everything. Then explained that my carbon monoxide detector was in the wrong place and showed me where I should have it. I would recommend them to another person. Lynda Miller

They were okay. The guy just came and did what he was supposed to do off of a checklist, but I expected more information and suggestions from him about what to do and he didn’t provide that. The estimates were pretty high as well.

We had a general inspection on a home we were planning to purchase and had several issues that were noted that caused us to want a more extensive inspection. I found a coupon on Angie's List for an electrical inspection by Universal so gave them a call. They came out very quickly to do the inspection and when Ross (our inspector) arrived I noticed that Universal also did AC/heating so asked if it would be possible to have someone out since we were already there. After a phone call by him we had an appointment for Lee to come over within an hour or so to inspect the AC/heat system ... and for the cost of the coupon (no additional charges). We purchased the home (with a reduction in price due to their findings) and scheduled them to come out after closing to talk to us about the changes we needed to make with both the electrical and AC/heating systems. Because of the craziness we were having going between the house we sold and the house we purchased they worked around our schedule to be able to meet with both myself and my husband. They worked with us on scheduling all the work to be done over just two days which was pretty remarkable in my opinion because we received a totally new AC/heating system with new ductwork and many other changes along with extensive electrical reworking on our circuit breaker box as well as completely redoing our smoke detectors and electrical outlets and switches. The crew we had to install both systems were very prompt, friendly and professional taking precautions in our home as they worked around the mess there from moving in just 2 days before. I would highly recommend them for any AC/heating or electrical work that needs to be done and am already planning for future services from them. Thank you to Ross, Lee and the crew at Universal that gave us a safe and comfortable home to live in.

The company was very responsive, thorough, professional and completed an excellent electrical inspection. My only problem was I felt the price quoted to me to carry out the suggested repairs was outrageously expensive. I was able to find another company to complete the repairs at less than half the Universal estimate.

My home is 25 years old so I expected some problems would be found that would need correcting. They did the inspection in less than 2 hours. I agree with most everything they found that needed to be corrected and arranged a date when my power could be off for about 8 hours. UHP coordinated the power cut off with my power provider and all inspections and permits with the city. Everything went off without a hitch. They were very professional and wore shoe coverings in my home to not get the floor dirty.
