Description of Work: Danny Hixon responded very quickly to my e-mail -- came the next day.He inspected our circuit breaker box, corrected some minor issues and addressed the concerns we had.We need a new Grounding Rod and would like to have him install a Whole House Surge Protector.We were very impressed with his honesty, forthrightness, and pleasant manner.He doesn't try to come in and sell you something you don't need. Description of Work: I moved into an older house two years ago and I've had constant problems with lights burning out all over the house.All the lights in the MBR and close blew out at the same time so I called Thor to find out why. They checked ever switch and plug in the house and found two that were bad. They charged $150 to replace those and said they didn't think I would have further problems but to call if I did. I brought up a whole house surge suppressor and Danny told me he thought that would be an excellent idea since all my appliances are electronic. He came by in the evening a couple of days later and installed one for $650 and also replaced the ballast in a hall light. The thing he did that I absolutely love is to write the date he installed the supressor on the unit since it has a one year warranty. That way, you don't even really have to keep up with the original paper work. I wish all contractors did tha! He and his crew are all very nice (they were sweet to my dogs) and professional. I've already recommended Thor to friends and I will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: Danny is great to work with. As an engineer that can do almost anything around my home, I am hesitant to bring contractors into my house. ( Iv'e thrown a few out when they tried to do unnecessary work) After a lightning strike to our house, we had a few electrical issues that I couldn't resolve my myself. Danny came out to trouble shoot. He couldn't find the intermittent problem the first trip, so he didn't charge for a service call. When the problem returned, he found the problem while installing 2 whole house surge protectors. He also located and corrected an error in the electrical service that wasn't by code.

Description of Work: I called Thor enterprises to ask for a quote for electrical work. No one is available to answer the phone, it goes straight to voicemail every time you call. I left my name and phone number and requested a call back. After 3 days, I called again to ask for an estimate. Again, the call went straight to voicemail. I don't believe they actually have anyone to answer the phone, so if you ever had a problem with work, they could decide whether to call you back or not. It took another two days for them to call me back. I had already moved on to another electrical contractor by then, since I would never hire such an unresponsive contractor.

Description of Work: Replaced a very old recessed type light that 3 other electricians did not know how to get to. Yes, it was a bit tricky, but the guys figured it out and even went to paint match the ceiling so everything looked good as new. Replaced nine old dimmer switches/boxes that were not working properly, gave advice and estimate on breaker box (which we will be calling them out to replace in the near future). Friendly, professional and they know what they are doing. They will be the only ones doing electrical work for us.

Description of Work: They arrived when expected, more than one worker and I was contacted before arrival. I had two ceiling fans removed and 2 installed. They unboxed and cleaned up after the work was complete on the ceiling fans. The work was done quickly and efficiently. I also had a dimmer swith installed. Trouble-shooting was done on my electrical breaker box as I've had many randomly thrown breakers in the past. Thor explained the purpose of a whole-house surge protector and I agreed to installation. It was pricey, but I think it was well worth it. We have had 3 major severe thunder storms since the July installation and I have yet to have any breakers thrown or appliances damaged. The surge came with a one-year warranty. It appears to be doing was it was intended to do. I will use this company again without hesitation. Two months after installation and service and everything is still working perfectly. I have to say that they went above and beyond on the ceiling fans. They were huge fans and they attempted to repack all the parts so that I could give them to a neighbor. My neighbor has since installed them and he said every single screw and part was there.

Description of Work: A gentleman from Thor came out to look at the fairly large re-modelling job I had. He took notes, gave me a card, and left. The discussions were rather uninformative, with him always stating that " we can do anything you'd like." I understand that, but I am asking for opinions and guidance from a skilled individual. By the way, he was not an electrician himself, but would be sending them if the job was accomplished. Anyhow, I did not receive a call or e-mail back for over 1 month. I was finally informed through e-mail that the gentleman became ill, which was the reason for the delay. I hope all is well with the person mentioned herein, but this story needed to be told.

Description of Work: Showed up on time and was very professional. What I thought was a small project (moving a GFCI plug), involved more work because they had to do the work according to code. The previous electrician had installed a GFCI incorrectly in my new bathroom. He tied it to an exterior GFCI. The guy from Thor said that the bath GFCI should have its own separate circuit and according to code, cannot be tied to another plug.If I wanted to move it to another wall, running a new separate circuit would be more expensive than I thought. I completely understand. The work involved was more extensive, so it was a fair amount for the work he proposed. At this time, I don't want to spend the $$. If I decide to have it done, I will use Thor.

Description of Work: Thor replaced the switch on the underwater light in our swimming pool. The job turned out to be way more complicated than anticipated, but this fine gentleman from Thor stuck to his estimate.
