The Gutter Man

Don was our salesman. He was punctual and had a great sense of humor. He was very informative. I'd done some research on gutters, but he educated me the rest of the way on some of the challenges with my particular situation on the back of my house -- I had a very long run of roof where most of the water on the back side of the house would flow, and room for only one downspout at the corner of the house (without trenching up my patio and adding a french drain underneath). He recommended that I go with 6" gutters and 3"x4" downspout to see if we could avoid adding another downspout and tearing up my patio. A very nice lady at the office was in touch with me a few times to tweak the schedule by one day as weather caused a slight delay. She tried to be very accommodating. The two guys that showed up were very nice and spoke English. They worked quickly and cleaned up everything after they were done. They even removed all the pine needles from my roof where the new gutters were being installed (and I hadn't asked them to). In the end the gutters looked great and appeared solidly mounted. The paint color matched exactly and I was very happy with quality of the job, and looking forward to see how the back of the house (with one down-spout on a long run of roof) would handle one of our torrential down-pours. Just last Sunday we got the torrential down-pour ( the rains that closed the schools for a few days ). I got up around 2am on Monday just when the lightning was popping all around and the rain was coming down with maximum effort. I flipped on the patio porch light. Nothing was over-running the gutter. Awesome. One downspout and 6" gutters did the trick. However, now I need to put something under that down-spout that can withstand the water force. There's was so much water coming out of that thing that it pushed the river rock under it a few feet away. That should be easily fixed. Thanks Don & company!

Alex and Anthony did a fantastic job cleaning our clogged gutters. Both were extremely friendly, experienced, dependable, and responsive. Alex and Anthony took adequate precautions to avoid debris falling into our pool, fountain, and landscaping. They also spent plenty of time blowing and hosing off affected areas -- my house and gutters look great! Alex is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about water movement and management. He carefully explained the procedure, ensured that all costs were addressed prior to beginning the service and recapped the work (and benefits) after completion. Alex and Anthony are keepers and they (and the Gutter Man) have definitely earned my future business. Keep up the great work!

I picked this vendor on the basis of the customer review and I am glad I did. The service personnel were prompt (early!) pleasant and professional. They explained what they intended to do, then did exactly that. They even performed an unexpected minor repair; they had the materials they needed with them. After they were done on the roof, they cleaned up the mess in the yard and took it with them. I am happy to add my recommendation.

The technicians called when they were on the way. I was their first stop for the morning. They were professional and talked to me in laymans terms so that I would understand exactly what they were saying. Went over different prices with me. They did the work, explained what they did. I was able to look at the work and ask questions. they were patient with me and my questions!! Would definitely use their services again.

We knew we had the right company doing our job from the first visit by Jose who did the estimate for us. He arrived at the time that was scheduled. He was very professional and clearly very knowledgeable about gutters. Our gutters are 20 years old and we were fully expecting to be told that the whole system needed to be replaced. But Jose told us that only a few repairs needed to be done for us to get several more years of service out of them. We knew then that we were dealing with a reputable company, looking for our long-term business rather than a quick, oversold solution to our problems. The bid was very clear about the work that would be done. The price included a 10% discount for being on Angies List (as promised). We paid a 50% deposit. Jose explained it would take several days for the crew to be scheduled and gave us a specific day to call the office for the date of the work. He also told us the work crew are all employees of Gutter Man, not sub-contractors, and that they had a minimum of 10 years of experience with the company. We called on the day Jose told us to call and, sure enough, the work date had been established. On that date, we got a call a couple hours early to let us know they were on their way. The crew was also professional, cleaned up afterwards. We were particularly concerned about this project because we have a 4 foot sculpture in the yard that we wanted to protect (and which could not be moved). The crew was attentive to our concern and made sure they didn't bang it. Best news is our repaired gutters are working beautifully!! We had 2 sections which were prone to damaging, strong water flows whenever we had a heavy rain. All of that is now taken care of. Highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again.

Excellent service. Bought the gutter cleaning AL Big Deal, but since my gutters were bowing, had small trees growling out of them and I had a pond every time it rained, let's just say I knew I needed more than cleaning! The team arrived on time, completed the cleaning and performed gutter repair and added screening over the gutters. Big rain the next day, water flowed properly from gutters, no more bowing. Very pleased with the service and professionalism of the crew.

Don't recall details due to lapse in time; neither do I remember the cost. Sorry!

I booked an appointment through their very nice office staff. The workers showed up and did a fantastic job cleaning out the gutters and bagging the leaves. Very happy to say they washed under the eaves as well. Yes I will be using them again.

I signed up for an Angie's list deal to get gutters cleaned. It turns out that the contractor is in Texas and I am in New York. Big screwup on Angie's List part. Took a few phone calls to get my refund.

I pre-paid $100 for a gutter cleaning which I purchased over the phone. The saleswomen explained that I would need to pay an additional $50 because my home was a 3 story townhome (detached) plus a potential surcharge depending on the linear feet of gutters to be cleaned. Everything seemed straightforward enough. When the crew arrived, however, the story changed. The project manager Jeff made me listen to a pitch on all of the attention to detail he and his team would take, and then he told me that the cost of the job was going to be an additional $400 !! He claimed that the attic / roof on my home (which is a standard size) actually made my home 4 stories. To make matters worse, he was impolite. Rather than apologize for the higher price and explain why it costs $400 more to scale an extra 8 feet, he proceeded to lecture me on how my home was really 4 stories (note to Jeff: most homes have an attic and it does not count as an extra story). I declined the service and was given a refund. All this left me wondering: why this issue could not have been brought to my attention before I pre-paid for the service? If having an attic is going to drive the cost up over 3X, then perhaps the sales person could have asked about it? In summary, I felt like the pricing was deceptive and the customer service was poor. I would recommend that others stay away from the Gutter Man!

They were prompt, professional and efficient. Did a nice job and cleaned up after themselves. They do a roof inspection and suggest repairs, upgrades, but no hard sell.

I have used the Gutter man in the past to install my gutters. They are reliable and priced fairly. I recommend them highly!

Called in advance to let me know arrival time. Arrived promptly. Completed the requested work and also as a courtesy used a blower to clean up leaves off the driveway, walkways and patio areas.

Crew showed up on time performed the work and cleaned up the area when they were done.

I initially bought a gutter cleaning voucher on Angie's list and called them to schedule an appointment. The Gutter Man provided a courtesy call the business day before the day of the appointment and everything was confirmed and ready to go. On the day of the appointment, Alex from The Gutter Man called me 20-30 minutes before arriving to my house which gave me enough time to get home from work to greet them. Alex and his crew spent roughly the first 5 minutes explaining what services they were going to do, how they were doing them and if there was anything I would like to add. In addition to the gutter cleaning, I requested for Alex and his crew to put two end caps on the gutters that were missing them and they provided a very reasonable quote to have those installed after they measured out the amount of gutters I had. They started by cleaning out of the gutters and the roof grit. They then proceeded to clean up all of the debris from the work. Then, they went back up and installed the end caps with no issues. At the end of the service, they went over what they did, showed me a minor issue with one of the vents on the roof, and showed me the before and after pictures of the work they did. I requested an estimate on the roof vent and they were happy to provide one. Without a doubt, I will be using The Gutter Man in the future if the opportunity arises.

They were thorough and professional and now we have clear gutters and a clean roof.
