They arrived as scheduled after calling to let us know they were on their way. We had received a reminder call of the appointment the day before. The crew was very professional and courteous and did an exceptional job of cleaning up after the work was done. They showed me a section of gutter that was loose on the garage and asked If I wanted them to repair it. We agreed on a price for the repair and the work was done completely to my satisfaction. This company seems to have their act together and I plan to get set up on a regular cleaning schedule with them.

Work was performed when I was not on location - my first mistake in that I trusted them as they came highly recommend by Angie's list that they would complete the work without supervision by the customer. I was texted by N that work had been done and that I had three leaks and he quoted me a price which I thought was high, but as they were "professionals" and thus should be good at what they do, I agreed to the work sight unseen - second mistake. And I also asked for a quote for new gutter installation around the side patio. After work was performed, I walked around the house to review work done and saw that they had not cleaned the gutters as I still had a birds nest in the gutters - so now I'm wondering were there even leaks if they didn't even do the job right. After taking pictures and sending it to N, he apologized profusely and said he would correct the next day. Which he did and he also asked for my email to send the quote on the gutter installation. Two days later I received the invoice with no details to work performed other than "Gutter cleaning per contract". And I had not received any email regarding the quote I had asked for. I called the office (this was Saturday) and left a voicemail, and I also sent them an email. Monday goes by - no response. So Tuesday afternoon I call them and they never got the voicemail and they never got the email. So I resend them the email, which they say they got, and A was going to send me an itemized invoice and have the crew manager contact me. After leaving multiple contact phone numbers, it is now Friday afternoon and have not heard anything or received any itemized invoice. At this point, I would like a refund of the additional work done to correct the leaks as I do not think any work was done. And disappointed that action was taken only when I sent evidence (pictures) which leads me to believe that I was charged for work not performed. Highly disappointed - and lesson for me to not trust anyone, even if they have high reviews on Angie's List. UPDATE: To other Angie member's, proceed with a high level of caution with this company: would recommend getting pictures before and after and not agreeing to work sight unseen and all conversations should be taped or witnessed by a third party especially when a disagreement is at hand as what is said verbally is very different than what is written.

The average score for a gutter cleaning category in Houston is 165.3. The Gutter Man score is 632.6 against a ALL COMPANIES AND SERVICES!!!!! This Member's desired resolution was to have proof that work was actually done or get a refund for the repair. We offered to give proof. There is no "STALEMATE". Once the Member realized that proof could be provided, she then said we called her a liar and now does not want us to come out at all. We did not accuse the member of lying. We simply could not confirm everything she said. In her review, it clearly states she sent the information to worker N's phone first. The worker relayed the info about the "birds nest"(which actually was a thin stick). And I sent him out the very next day. Also, FYI, once a "birds nest" is removed, it might just come back and start to rebuild again. This Member is trying to manipulate the AL system and is refusing her own request. The gutter man service person arrived at my house and supposedly measured the length of my gutters. He called me at work and said that the $94 I paid would not cover my gutter work so I had to pay him another $90 or so. That is after he tried to get me to prepay for multiple cleanings. I said I would not pay the additional price he quoted. He had a supervisor call me who was extremely rude. He told me I should learn to read and all of this was included in the Angie List coupon I bought. He also said he would never give me a refund and if I wanted a refund to call Angie List and he hung up. Overall the Gutter Man is horrible company to do business with and I think their "coupon" is a classic bait and switch. Thanks for your prompt response and for the refund. David

I purchased the coupon for cleaning 250 linear feet. I read the fine print and felt that it was a good deal. The crew showed up 1/2 hour late and proceeded to inform me that my entire house plus the guest house, which was connected with a breezeway, would have to all be done. I just wanted the backside of the house cleaned (about 250 linear feet) since I knew for a fact none of the others were dirty. The gentleman informed me that they do not do partials---all "interconnected" gutters had to be done, which meant, obviously a huge bill for me. I asked him to define what "interconnected" meant. He said that any gutter on the house is connected somewhat. I pointed out a 5 foot section of gutter which ended at an eve. The eve (which had no gutter attached to it) was about 7 feet wide and then another section of gutter began after that. I have my own definition of what "interconnected" means after spending 30 years in medicine and it does not match theirs. What I believe GutterMan wanted to do was a bait and switch with the coupon. I was then directed to discuss this with Jeff on the phone. Jeff basically was not willing to work with me. He spent most of the time being condescending ("they are only gutters, maam") and felt he had to sell me the fact that they would be doing a lot more than cleaning the gutters (bagging trash, washing down area, inspecting roof, etc.). I told him I didn't need all that. All I wanted was 250 feet of gutters cleaned out for only $94.00. That's it. Well, Jeff, said no and I had to send the crew packing. Classic bait and switch. Beware of this company. I would also strongly suggest they clarify their "fine print".

How can you be upset about the particulars of the coupon if you refuse to it? This Member said several times "isn't the customer always right?" In this case, no!!!! The crew was a well-oiled machine. They communicated the breakdown of services clearly and did not charge for unexpected services. They informed you in advance if the square footage of gutters exceeded the limits of the promo, so you would know what additional charges to expect. A yardman was supposed to come and clean up the front that week, but the Gutterman crew not only swept up their own debris; it seemed that the whole front yard was cleaned up as well.,
Description of Work: The Gutterman crew arrived promptly. Although they looked like really young high school students, they were very professional. They cleaned the gutters, sealed what they reported were leaks-- with consent beforehand, and offered to do additional repairs such as replace worn-out screens for filters with permission.

The technicians showed up promptly. During the inspection and cleaning they found 2 leaks in the gutters and were able to repair them immediately for a reasonable price. 2 of the downspouts for our gutter runinto an underground drainage system in our yard. They notice that right away, disconnected those downspouts so the debris being cleaned from the gutter would not clog the drainage system and reconnected them when the cleaning was completed. The crew clean up all of the leaves, twigs and other debris from the cleaning and removed it, leaving our yard clean. We were very pleased with the services provided and plan to use their service again in the fall.

I purchased the $94 gutter cleaning deal. The crew showed up a little early and began work before I could meet them. I knew that I had a leak in a seam, and they also found that a squirrel (or other critter) had chewed part of the flashing on three exhaust vents. The supervisor showed me pictures on his phone of one damaged vent flashing and said he would text me pictures of the others. Never happened. They also charged $125 each to install plastic "perma-boot" flashing as a repair, and the seam repair cost $75. Ouch. The plastic perma-boots cost $20 online, and it probably took 15 minutes each to install. I paid for them to fix everything because I didn't want to bother with doing it myself or shopping around. I never received the photos of the damaged vent flashing or of the repairs, as promised, but I generally trust it was done. My biggest issue was that they did not clean up the debris as agreed in the deal and as they agreed in person. I left early to return to work, and when I got home, some of the trash was simply blown into a flower bed. There were specific items (such as a rag, nails, and a small empty tube of caulking) that the supervisor and I joked about being in my gutters. All of it was in the flower bed. Overall, $94 for gutter cleaning is a good deal, but the price for extras was outrageous and professionalism was lacking.

Gutter Man was very communicative in scheduling the appointment to clean my gutters. The person who was going to clean the gutters called when he was on the way and called again when he arrived because I could not be home. When he was almost done he called to tell me his recommendation. Overall, the experience was very good. My biggest issue was that when I got home, there was a black trash bag with debris from the gutters that was left in my front yard. Also, he recommended that my gutters be replaced because all the seams were leaking. I asked for an estimate and he said he would have someone contact me but no one has.

The service was okay. It was service performed on my daughter's house. The thing she was not happy about was that they said there seems to be this and you need to do this much more, and there seems to be that, you need to do that much more. It was need to but she should do this and that, and there were add ons. She paid an additional $100, and she finally told them that it was enough, and they should just clean the gutters. I would tell people to be careful at what they are looking for and what they want. They may be good at their job.

Good Points: Overall the work was good. The guys who came out to do the work were friendly and quite professional. They showed up on the day and time they said they would. They said they would call when they were on the way and they did that. Down sides: They did some minor repairs while they were cleaning the gutters and it was pricey. For repairs they said would take 10 minutes or less it was $60 to $75. So for example a piece of wood that needed to be nailed down because it was sticking up, it was $60. The person you deal with on the phone sounded a little miffed at me the whole time and I wasn't sure why. Overall, it didn't change the service they provided but I was left wondering what I had done to annoy them so much.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate the opportunity to earn your business. We understand your concern and am glad this was brought up. Lets address this comment: When additional repair work is required, some members can be taken-a-back by the pricing. This repair is something that is not done all the time so the Member is not familiar with the cost; and although it may take US only 15 minutes or less (because of our skill and having the proper equipment) it would take a layman a lot more time as well as money for the necessary equipment and the possibility of injury. We offer a warranty for all our work done and am fully insured. It looks simple and easy because we are professionals. We apologize for the mood or tone of the phone call. I will forward this to the office to address the issue of phone etiquette. This is no excuse but they do deal with hundreds of calls per day and sometimes it can take a little time to compose oneself, after a trying call. Our front office is the best and they pride themselves on solving the customers problems. But everyone has an off day. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Jeff lambert

While cleaning the gutters they got dirt all over the side of house. They didn't reconnect my water hose that they undid. Also they remove screens I had on my gutters and threw off the roof into our drainage ditch out of sight. didn't line up the down spout with the secondary gutter causing damage to the yard.

I personally spoke with this Member and explained that he has a very damaged plastic gutter system that has never been maintained (per the member own admission). This system just needed to be replaced and it did not matter how much he might of thought he was saving in trying to clean it, there really was no value in any amount he spent. Because this member was limited with his mobility nor did he want to look at any pictures of the system, we did the best we could with what we had to work with. He had missing and damaged plastic screens throughout his system. We did not throw any screens in a ditch, however the Houston area has had some nice thunder storms and they may have been dislodged and fallen into the ditch next store. The member house was covered with dirt from his overflowing damaged plastic gutter. We did try to rinse the stains off but he was advised to pressure wash his house once he replaces his system. If a gutter system is not maintained, it is pointless to even have them on your house. Once a damaged system is cleaned and the proper repairs are not done then the system is actually worst off and stuff may now become dislodged. This is a job we tried to walk away from but felt obligated to the member (due to his circumstances) and did the best we could with what we had to work with. I would like to say that At no time during our conversation did the member say anything about the above comments in his review of our company. When calling back to discuss or correct any issue (I was now made aware of through AL review) we were told don't bother. Initially the member called to confirm the cost of the cleaning and wanted additional discounts for being a senior citizen. So we were taken by surprise by the review and the sour tone once we called back.

It has been a while, but I was very impressed with the professionalism of this company. Everything went well. Showed up on time with his crew. Very efficient and thorough. Took gutters apart and cleaned. Replaced screens over gutters.
