Bob was great to work with from start to finish. I was looking for window replacement for my entire home and wanted to upgrade the type of window used. I received quotes from multiple window installers. The biggest difference between Bob and other installers is that he doesn't sell just one or two brands of windows. He helped me find the window style and brand I liked best and looked around town at building supply wholesalers to find me the best price. As a result, I was able to afford premium, aluminum clad wooden windows at a price competitive with other installers' vinyl window prices. Throughout the selection process, he was very patient with me and facilitated conversations between the window specialist at the supplier to make sure my questions were answered and we specified all of the details of our order so I would be happy. Bob also marks up his window installation on a per-window basis, not a percentage basis, so I didn't pay more in installation fees just because I selected a premium window. Bob's team installed the window, and it looks great. I definitely plan to use Bob and his crew for the full house window installation in the spring.
Description of Work: Sunlite Exteriors quoted window replacement for my entire house. They replaced one window to coincide with other renovation activities, and we deferred other window replacements until a later date because of our larger renovation project schedule.

I learned the hard way that many window companies only replace windows not create new openings. When calling around many refused or didn't seem competent enough to do the job; not Bob he came out and helped me figure out a solution to get some light into my former windowless prison cell of an office. After helping determine the proper size window opening he was quick to schedule a date to do the work. With a custom job like this we ran into a few minor setbacks but Bob and his crew were able figure it out and complete the job at the original price quoted. Overall I'm happy with his services and my newly lit office.

I purchased the big deal fromAngie's List to get 5 windows installed in our upstairs to reduce noise and the draft we were receiving with our old windows. Bob Camp was very prompt to respond to the email sent by Angie's List after the big deal was purchased. The next week Bob came out to measure and scope out the project. He asked why I only wanted to replace 5 windows when all of our windows were just as old as those 5. I told him it was a matter of cost. Other bids I received for windows were super expensive. Bob asked if he could go ahead and bid out doing all the windows. I told him to go for it. He came back, and to my surprise, made it very affordable to replace all the windows. We accepted his bid and told him to order all 14 windows vs. just the 5. About 3 weeks later they came out to do the install. Bob was very easy to work with on setting up the time. They initially started our install on a SATURDAY! I was shocked they were willing to work on the weekend. Lalo, his lead installer, seemed like a sharp guy. He took his shoes off upon entering the house and informed me prior to the start of installation what furniture they needed to move. Due to the age of our windows and settlement of the house through the years, it seemed like the removal our windows took longer than the normal house. They did have to come back out on the following Monday to complete the install. They were right on time at 8 am and finished before lunch. I felt like at the end of the install they were in a hurry to leave even though there were a few issues I saw. Bob came out and looked and agreed with the things I saw. They did come back out a couple weeks later to repair, which, I felt was fine. This gave the caulk plenty of time to contract some with the colder weather we've had. I now feel like the install is complete and I'm pleased with the end result. The only thing that I was only slightly disappointed with was they did leave quite a mess outside and cleaned up very sparsely inside the house. I didn't feel like it took away from the work they did, but we did have some clean up afterwards. I thought Bob worked hard to get the business and was there to make sure he was able to get more business in the future. We would use them again, and I have already recommended him to a couple other potential customers.

Bob Camp - owner - listened to me from the beginning regarding my objectives and budget. He then worked to propose options to save me money rather than make the job more expensive. When there were alternatives (e.g., Hardiplank vs. Smartside) or differences in grades or brands of windows, he carefully and objectively explained the pros, cons, and price differences and then let me decide which option to choose with no pressure. One great example, he saved me money by reducing the number of windows I had to replace by offering single windows to replace openings that were previously two windows and replace some sliding windows with solid windows that don't open when I didn't need that option. After the project started, I decided to replace a back door that had a doggie door installed. For a fair fee, Bob agreed to move the doggie door to be installed in the wall of our laundry room and install a brand new back door for us. No problems at all. Bob's crew worked respectfully and professionally. Overall I would definitely recommend Sunlite Exteriors to anyone looking for doors, windows, or siding!

We took the Big Deal at the last moment not fully convinced it was right for us. This feeling was communicated to the provider before he came out to make an estimate. The deal was good. Its just not for us at the present time. The provider was great. I'm sorry we just aren't ready. Now, other issues have come up which take precedence and we must withdraw from the Deal.

Initial contact was prompt and all follow-up issues were dealt with in a very efficient manner. Because of our schedule, the project was done in two phases. The roof was done first; because the previous roofing job had just put new shingles over the old wood shingles, all of those shingles had to be removed, and new decking had to be installed. The entire job was completed on schedule. The second phase involved removing and replacing all the old siding and windows. Once again, the work was completed on schedule. The work crews for both phases were extremely hard-working and efficient, even though they were working in August in Houston. Bob Camp visited the site almost every day to make sure we were satisfied with the work. In summary, we got a fair price for good quality work, work that was performed as promised and on schedule. We would certainly use this contractor again if the need arose.

I contacted Bob Camp of Sunlite Exteriors and received a prompt response that day. We agreed on a day for the estimate and he showed up on time, gave a detailed estimate and we scheduled the work. Sunlite Exteriors has an awesome crew. They showed up on time each morning and worked non stop. I had a wall of siding replaced, other siding caulked and roof repair that included replacing some rotten wood. The guys were great communicators, took care to keep things cleaned up (this was a very messy job). They Finished in a timely manner, and are professionals at what they do .They matched my siding perfectly which was pretty old. I highly recommend Sunlite Exteriors and would use them again.

The house is 50 years old and had original single pane aluminum windows with broken screens. Bob came out to the house several times to make sure his measurements were correct. His prices were fair and his crew did an excellent job. He was always on time and very professional. The job took longer than anticipated due to apparent problems with the order. The factory made multiple errors in my order, requiring Bob and his crew to make many trips to the house. Some windows were of the wrong type, others were the wrong size. It was frustrating, but Bob assured me that he will make this right and he did.

After my offer was accepted on a house, I called Bob along with a few other contractors to come out and provide me a bid to put on a new roof and new siding on the house. Bob was honest and gave me a quote much lower then the other providers. He also gave me a few references and advised me to drive by their homes to see the type of work his crew does. Because of the cost of the job, I drafted up a formal contract that Bob signed off on. He also broke down all the costs in materials and labor for me so I knew what I was spending on each job and what types of margins he was making on the entire project. This was good for me to see and I like his openness to share this information. The old roof was removed in 1 day and the new roof put on in 1-2 days. His crew came out and did touch ups when I asked without any push back. The siding crew did a good job as well. They took down all existing siding, wrapped the house in tyvek, put on new hardy, and painted it all. I was happy with the overall quality of the work and Bob's consistent follow-up. If I had to give a con for the overall project, it would be the crew left a bit of trash on site that I had to pick up but nothing major. The deciding factor for me selecting Bob over there other contractors was his price was much more competitive then the bigger companies due to lower overhead, advertising, etc budgets and his openness and honesty to break down all the costs for me. Lastly, his reviews on Angie's list were mostly all positive so that is why I called him out in the first place. Overall, I was very satisifed with the work and Bob told me if I have any issues with the work in the future, to give him a call and his crew will come out and fix things.

Though Bob Camp's company did not do the work, he was one of the finalists for doing the complete residing of my house. He was very punctual with his appointments to spec the job and provided estimates that were right in line with the other contractors I'd gotten bids from. He struck me as being both knowledgeable and professional in his manner and approach, and I have no doubts that he would have done a good job. In the end, I used a company that was associated with another contractor that had done major roofing and fence replacement for me in the past, so I already had experience with them and the quality of their work. But Bob was very good in following up with me and answering all of my questions, and was also quite gracious whenever I told him that I was going with another contractor.

There were some hiccups along the way, due to unforeseen structural damage in the walls. Two neighboring units above ours both had waste water leaks at the bathing area toilets due to failed wax rings under the toilets (the water didn't leak except when the toilets were flushed...nice, right?). Given these foreclosed units had sat on the market for several months prior to our purchasing them, there is no way to know how long the leaks existed except to say the floor joists underneath the bath area floors above ours were rotted to the point of needing replacement, along with load bearing walls supporting those floor joists. Some obvious attempts at structural repairs had been done in years past because the quality of those repairs were sub-standard and did not meet code for the floor load above sitting on this badly repaired structural damage, so that had to be demo'd and replaced, along with the structurally compromised load bearing structural members. Mr. Camp performed a very high-quality repair to the floor/ceiling assembly, and in fact over-built it considering there is only a second story being supported from below. Mr. Camp's credo is better to over-build than to under-build and be back in a couple of years to tear it all out and start over... I happen to like that type of thinking... And he effected these unforeseen repairs at a very reasonable price, completing the almost total reframing of two bath areas in less than 2 days. Also, these units had been built in the mid-60's and converted to condos in the mid-70's, so there was asbestos insulated aluminum wiring in the walls and Bob recommended completely re-wiring the units while all the walls were opened up, which we decided to do, considering the amount of money we were already investing in these units. Both condensing units where replaced, one unit going out during construction, the other being even older than the dead unit, it was decided to replace both units now, and run new copper lines and wiring to clean up some unnecessary furr downs and modernize the appearance in the bath areas. His crew's tile work was excellent; we chose a laser edge zero grout line tile for the living and dining room and the sub-floor must be very flat and clean of any humps/bumps or they show up in the tile edges, due to a corner or edge not sitting flush with its neighboring tile. The tile that did get grout, all ran very straight and square, with clean grout lines, and all haze cleaned. His guys also used admix instead of water to mix the grout instead of water, so sealer mixed right in instead of applied by hand later. We had a tile mural inset into the granite back-splash, very clean and sharp-looking. All the cabinetry hung very cleanly and square, with nice granite tile counter-tops. We also chose a Martha Stewart Light Strokes paint, which makes the walls look like suede, without any faux finish effects (although we could have faux'd the walls, we didn't) but the paint application requires better than average painting skills even without the faux than typical paint and his guys put the paint on very nicely, and it looks great! We converted the second kitchen to a bar and now have a large kitchen/dining area with a separate living area with a full service bar! All in all, a very technically difficult job, with other difficulties associated with Condos, HOA board rules about hours of work performed, trash disposal, even being allowed on site, and Mr. Camp and Sunlite Exteriors, suited up, showed up and got it down, for the amount of money agreed upon. Even the extras required by the water leakage and bad electrical wiring were repaired without vacuuming the bank account dry. Consider us very satisfied customers of Sunlite Exteriors.
Description of Work: Sunlite Exteriors had previously provided roofing, siding and window replacement on my older home (built in the 1950's), replacing the original cedar shake siding with Hardie Plank, installing new, high energy efficient windows and replacing an aged roof. After receiving 4 other bids (which were all more expensive than Mr. Camp's bid), my wife and I contracted with Mr. Camp's company to perform this exterior home remodeling work. I have to give Mr. Camp and his employees very high marks for punctuality, quality of work performed, within the agreed budget and completing their work a couple of days prior to Mr. Camp's estimated timeframe, which was a great plus because my Mother was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and became bedridden, needed home care and came to live with my wife and kids, requiring a day nurse to care for her needs while my wife and I worked. The general noise and disruption caused by any kind of remodeling project can be a large pain for the homeowner, but Mr. Camp and his crew showed up every work day at 8:00 AM and left by 5:00 PM, keeping the noise down to the best of their ability so as not to disturb my Mother and were very considerate of our time and need for peace and calm in my Mom's last days. We were so pleased with Sunlite Exteriors and it's employees that when we recently purchased two condos at auction for investment purposes, we put him at the top of the list of contractors we took bids from. Mr. Camp was honest enough to inform us that interior remodeling was not his main line of work, but that it was within his and crew's capabilities. We took several bids, because there was a certain degree of complexity to the scope of work, basically gutting two adjacent units, reconfiguring the two spaces into one large space, taking two small bathrooms and converting those into a large Hollywood-style Bath area with a walk-in shower, his and hers toilets, bidets and vanity areas, using glass block walls, granite flooring, ceramic, glass and granite tiles for walls, vanity tops and accents, building out a bench in the shower area, niches in the walls, adding a full size high efficiency front loading washer and dryer space with the appropriate connections for electrical, gas, water and waste water, and exhaust ducting, reconfiguring the kitchen geometry, new cabinetry through-out, granite and slate flooring, new electrical service to support the additional load from the washer/dryer, arranging for all permits, sub-contracting out the electrical, plumbing and hvac to reputable sub-contractors and overseeing their work. Mr. Camp's bid wasn't the cheapest of the bids we received for this project, but being familiar with his professionalism and work ethic from the prior work he did for us, we chose his bid over other cheaper bids because we knew he wouldn't promise more than he could deliver. In this situation, the premise that you get what you pay for played true, given that if we had chosen the cheapest of all possible bids, corners would most likely have been cut somewhere to achieve our desired result and still provide a nice profit for the contractor. My wife and I felt it was better to pay someone familiar with us and who we were familiar with and avoid the annoyance, hassle and anxiety of worrying how a contractor who has bitten off more than he can chew works the angles to maximize his profits at the expense of lowering the level of quality we wanted at the conclusion of this project. Mr. Camp met and exceeded our expectations and was worth every penny that he cost.

We had a great experience with Bob and Sunlite Exteriors. We had a water penetration on the back of our garage where a corrugated metal canopy had been installed and improperly flashed. Most of the other wood siding appeared to be in good shape but was in need of cleanup/painting. I ultimately talked to a total of 7 different contractors (some about 5 months ago when we thought we were ready, and four just before we started the project). Some were trying to sell a project that was simply overkill for what we wanted to do. A couple just wanted to put new siding up, and a couple we never heard from again. Bob was the only one that really seemed to listen to us and come up with a solution that we were not only happy with but also fit our budget. I was also impressed with how accessible Bob was throughout. During the quote process he did everything he said he would (for example he said we'd have a quote by Monday and we had it on Monday), and was great about getting back with me and clarifying any questions. The same held true during the project. For the project, Sunlite removed the old corrugated metal canopy, repaired the damaged/rotten siding where we had a water penetration, and then constructed a new wood-frame canopy. They then scraped the old paint off where it was peeling on the original siding and primed/painted. The final product was both beautiful and functional, exactly what we were looking for. And we have since had two rains and not a drop of water coming into the garage. I would highly recommend Bob and Sunlite Exteriors for any sort of similar exterior project, whether it be a canopy, deck, windows, or siding. They did a very high quality job at a price that fit our budget. I am grateful that Bob was able to help us find a solution that was exactly what we were looking for. I only wish I had found Bob and Sunlite Exteriors before I had our siding and windows installed a few years ago! Again, Bob will take care of you; he is an honorable, honest guy and his crew knows what they are doing.

Of the 3 companies I requested estimates from, they were the last to respond with an appointment. I waited one week after the appointment, called them again and finally got the estimate. He was very apologetic, and explained he'd been sick. Of the estimates I received from 3 different companies, theirs was in the middle, but the window was of lesser quality than the lowest estimate. For this, and the questionable service, they were eliminated from the running.

From the point that I contacted Sunlite until the completion of the project it was a very pleasant experience. My husband and I sub-contracted the building of our new home and this company was a joy to work with. Bob, the salesman and owner was very professional and attentive to the job. He visited the site (which is 50 miles outside of Houston) at all points of installation and was quick to answer all of my phone calls and questions. The installers of both the roof and the windows were very experienced craftsman. They paid attention to every detail of the installation were expedient, diligent, and and both my windows and roof are beautiful. This is a very trustworthy company in my opinion and I highly recommend Sunlite Exteriors.

Scheduling the work was fast although delayed a couple of days because of their work on another project. Once they began they were extremely efficient and the two man crew worked tirelessly to complete most of the work on the 2nd day. Touch up painting and installing the door was completed later. They were easy to deal with, communicated well with my wife and I, and cleaned up afterwards. I would not hesitate to use Bob and his crew again to change out our remaining windows or put on a new roof. Installing the door was a challenge for a number of reasons and their work doing this was also excellent. The windows, even though mid-level in quality, met our needs perfectly and significantly helped reduce the heat in our house. Their work was great, very reasonable, and I would not hesitate to recommend them.
