Summit Fence South

Great service from initial sales contact to installation. Summit Fence removed our hurricane fence and installed a beautiful new fence that has added to the value and curb appeal of our home. The job was completed in 1.5 days and the crew was friendly and cleaned up the yard well when they were done. They had to work around several shrubs and bushes and none of our plants were damaged. Overall, a great experience.

It was a fantastic experience. I had an incredibly small job that fencing contractors do not want to deal with. This company was more than willing to perform this job at a convenient time. They also had a special person, their foramen, do the work. He came to give the estimate and work as promised. He went beyond requirements to make sure the job was done right.

I first left a message for the company on the 18th of July. As of today, the 30th, I've still not managed to meet with Phillip, the sales person who responded to my request for an estimate. I first asked to meet at my home at 5:30 PM, so that my husband and I could both participate -- and necessitating that we both leave work early. Phillip called at 4:30 PM the day of the appointment to tell us he needed to cancel so that he could attend his son's softball game. I didn't even get the message, since I was in a meeting at work, which I ran out of -- needlessly I learned. Phillip never got back in touch with me to reschedule, and when I finally followed up several days later, we booked a similar evening appointment. He seemed anxious to get off the phone with me. He never appeared for meeting number two, and, while Summit may do great fencework, they've lost the chance to win my business.

Fence was installed on-time and within budget. Summitt did an excellent job.

The estimator came out and did a very thorough job taking measurements, explaining how the gates would be constructed, discussing design issues and working around trees. Summit Fence drew very detailed plans and explained how their wood gates were constructed with a metal frame that would prevent sagging later and how they used wider, better quality wood pickets. They were also able to schedule the work within 2 weeks before I had a large party. They came and did the work as promised over 2 days and it was an excellent quality installation.

The salesman responded right away and gave a detailed estimate. He followed up with a phone call to check on my response. I waited almost 3 months before giving him the job, while I collected other estimates (which proved to be higher). The men who showed up to do the work were very polite, but were very difficult to communicate with. One of them spoke very limited English, but the other two spoke no English at all. The weather conditions were poor from the start of the job. To make matters worse, they company only sent two men on the first day to start the job, when they had promised 3 or 4 men so the job would be completed quickly. The weather forecast for the second day of the job was for 70% chance of rain - and rain it did! The men had to stop by early afternoon and the rain started in the morning. On that second day, they left such a mess on my driveway with mud and clumps of dirt that I had to go out in the rain and wash the driveway off with a hose after shoveling it off with a spade. I was expecting company for dinner and could not leave the driveway in that condition. The mud came right up to my back door even though it was far from the fence! It rained so hard the third day, the men were unable to work. They showed up really early the next morning (I didn't expect them because it was so muddy - Houston got at least 6 inches of rain the day before) After the job was complete, there was so much dirt and mud left on the fence that I could not get off with the hose. When the job coordinator for the company called to see if I was satisfied, I shared all this with him, and he agreed to send the men out the following Wednesday to clean up (they finished on Friday). I did not wait that long to clean up my yard or all the grass that was covered with clumps of mud would be dead. So Saturday I cleaned it up myself. However, I am waiting for them to clean that fence, which will be a big job. Even after the job was all over, the driveway was an absolute mess. The fence itself was very adequate (other than the dirt) but the workers were very sloppy, even though they were very polite. I could not let them know what was bothering me, so I just dropped it. I want to stain the fence and I asked the one worker who spoke limted Engish about staining and told him I needed the fence to be kept clean. He acted as if he understood, but now I know he did not - very frustrating experience.

THye arrived on time and worked even though the ground was muddy from rain. The only problem I encountered was that they made some choices to bury part of the baseboard and not the other part, and the fence on one side is uneven. I understand why they did it, but it could have been better.

They were good. The fence looks really good. I did have an issue with the gate bu tthey came right out and fixed it. They guy that came out had suggestions to make the fence and the gate look better.

The fence is gorgeous! I never thought I would say that about a fence; but it really is gorgeous. The crew was professional, efficient and respectful of my property as well as my neighbors property. The guy who first came out to talk to me also supervised the installation. That is important because nothing gets lost in the transition from one person to another. All I can say, is, if you want a really nice looking fence, that looks like it could out last any storm; call these guys. You get what you pay for!

They were very organized. They showed up on time. They were very knowledgeable. At the end of the day there was another company that was pretty good and had a lower price. Summit Fence didn't charge me for the estimate. I would consider them if I needed to use them in the future.

They did a great job. I was satisfied with their service. I was very pleased. The price was very competitive. One of the reasons I went with them was the quality.

I came to know of them through Angie?s List. Their quote seemed decent. They also trimmed the bush so that it wasn?t on the new fence anymore. They got the work done in a day.

I had used them in the past and was trying to get them to do a bid for me on some repair work last year and I didn't hear back from them. The job they did for me long ago was very well done. I did get somebody to do fence work and the part that they did is separate from the part this new company did but they are kind of against each other and I could see the difference. The new company didn't use as good quality wood and stuff that Summit Fence South did. They did really good craftsmanship and used high quality material. I think I would try to contact them again.

I had a good experience with Summit Fence South. The fence is of good quality, however there are some issues that they have yet to take care of. I would like to see them be a bit more responsive to me now that the project is over.

The crew came earlier than we expected and tackled the chain link fence that had vines on it and trees in the way of the new fence. The three men worked hard clearing this. Putting up the new fence was done very professionally and efficiently.They even made and extra effort to fit the gate around a down spout. Afterward they cleaned up the area and hauled off the old fence. We really appreciate their work and are enjoying our new fence. No more unsightly neighbor's yard!

They did a good job of repairing our fence. They had to redo part of it that they mistakenly did at the wrong height. Even though that issue arose, they were still able to finish the work in a timely manner. They made sure to clean up after themselves when they were done. I felt like their price was reasonable. I can't give them straight A's because they didn't do the work exactly right.

The workers from Summit were great. They came out and gave me an estimate. The fence looks great, I get a lot of compliments on it. I am very pleased with it. They were a little more expensive, but their product was nicer.

I contacted Summit for an estimate on fencing. The job consisted of removing existing cyclone fence, clearing vines, and building a new solid, two-sided fence so that both my neighbor and myself had a "good" side. This was just for a section of fence, about 50 ft. in all. They responded quickly to come out and quote the project. I had an e-mail with a nice diagram within 48 hours. They were able to schedule and complete the work in a timely manner. They offer financing with no interest making the job very afforable and budget friendly. Workers showed up ahead of schedule by one hour and they were finished in one day.

The workers at Summit do an awesome job. They have total respect for women. They listened to exactly what type of fence I wanted. They came on a daily basis and made sure the fence was done perfectly. They cleaned up after the job and they go the extra mile.

It is difficult to schedule in a reasonable amount of time. It was after the hurricane and I could understand. When they came to do the work, they finished it on the same day and they were fast. They were friendly and willing to work with the customer.

After receiving the estimate, Summit Fence promptly took down and hauled off our old fence/gates in one day. The next day they put in the entire fence/gates. Our neighbors were impressed and have now contacted Summit Fence to take care of their properties.

My initial request for an estimate was lost, but a second try weeks later resulted in prompt a response from the general manager, who also quickly revised the quote at my request several weeks later. I'm grateful that they managed to do the work near the holidays, when they are normally short on workers. My dissatisfaction began with poor communication through the foreman about whether and when work would occur. Work was not done to specifications: undersized gate posts, and no double-siding the gates. One gate was structurally unsound, which was surprising because the GM called me directly to get approval for his recommendation for how it should be built--directions the crew did not follow; after notifying them, it was altered in way that had no effect on the structural soundness--thus requiring another attempt. I appreciated that they were willing to take care of two minor issues still evident in the gate, but the foreman did not follow through on his promise to call me if the crew would need power to complete the job. I had to come home from work to accommodate them. No real acknowledgment was made by the company that the work was not done to specification (hard to change once the fence was up without tearing down). Before I could talk with them about adjusting the price accordingly at the end of the job, the second payment (due upon completion), was submitted to my credit card. I learned of this when the receipt was sent to my home?a charge to a credit card made the day before completion and without my consent. I called the GM, who partially acknowledged the problems and said he do something to assist; this has not materialized more than two weeks since our conversation. The foreman who was to address the gate problem has not found a way to get a crew by more than two weeks for what surely is a small fix. No more attempts by me to remedy directly with the company will be forthcoming.

Quickly responded to quote request and to schedule repair. Never saw the sales rep or an on-site manager during the work. The quality of the fence work is good except they don't use pressure treated wood for the picketers; not even an option. They used a mix of bolts on the gates producing an unfinished/unprofessional look to the gates. Spoke to my sales rep. about this and he said he would take a look at it; never saw him and he never contacted me.

Phillip came exactly on time to give me an estimate. The fence itself was done very professionally and looks great. The problems that I had were the result of poor onsite management. There was no quality control. I had my fence replaced because one of my dogs escaped and I emphasized how important it was that the fence reach the ground. I also specified that one of my gates must open in instead of out because my driveway would not allow it to open out. When I arrived home after completion of the job, I found that they installed the gate wrong and instead of rehanging it, they sawed off the bottom so that it would open over the driveway. It was at least a foot off of the ground - my dogs could walk under upright. I called Phil on Tuesday and told him that the fence was useless to me with the gate like it was. He didn't know how long it would be to get someone to come and fix it. I called back the following Monday and asked when the job was to be fixed and was told that they were supposed to have been there the week before. Had I known this, I would have called earlier. I get home on Monday afternoon and they had been there, but all they did was rehang the gate so that it opened in, but didn't replace the boards so again I couldn't let the dogs out. I called again and Phil was appalled and said that it would be fixed the next day. Again-no quality control. Finally, they replaced the boards, but then I noticed that they had cut down some of my palm fronds during the installation which was fine except that they stuffed them under my deck instead of hauling them off with the old fence. Then I discovered that they had broken my 15-year old Texas Mountain Laurel (expensive) off at about two feet from the ground. When I called to complain about the two plant issues, I received a less than sincere apology. I personally think that they should have offered to replace the plant or at least give me a credit for all of the inconvenience.
