Response from Summit Fence South
As soon as I read this report I pulled our files to determine when we had scheduled to go repair the sprinkler system. We take responsibility for underground problems if the customer agrees to the insurance that covers these types of issues. Unfortunately there is no way for anyone digging to know what lies beneath the dirt. This is why it is the Texas Railroad Commistion has strict standards about calling before you dig to have underground systems marked which we take very seriously. Unfortunately sprinkler systems are not covered under this by this mandate as most are not installed by any state, county or city. Having finished my research it was discovered that this is a job that was completed in 2009. The customer paid us in full and did not report any problems to us at that time. If we had been notified of a sprinkler problem it would have been fixed immediately. I'm not sure why the customer did not call us but our records indicate that the job was completed in September, one year ago without problems. I can't imagine that the problems with his sprinkler system has been ongoing for a year and he is still waiting very patiently for us to fix a problem we know nothing about. If he has a receipt that shows where he has had the problem fixed from last year we will review it and reimburse him for his expense. Again, it is unfortunate but not uncommon for sprinkler systems to be damanged as they are normally installed along most property lines. It is unusual for customers not to notify us and wait a year to make a complaint not to us but in this format. We are sorry for his inconvience. Linda Scott
