Secure Roofing

I called James to come out and quote me to re-shingle my roof. I saw some problems with the shingles when up on the roof taking down my christmas lights. I also didnt' like the look of them. He came and took a good look at the roof and gave me a quote that was approximately $500 less than other quotes. However, he told me that the shingles were still in good shape and he recommended keeping not removing the current shingles. Instead, he told me that he could come out and add a layer of shingles to the ridge line and hips, paint the vents penetrating through the roof, make other minor repairs, and reflash and reshingle around the skylight. He said that this work should extend the life of the roof for another 5-7 years. He also recommended me adding a solar powered vent that will help properly ventilate the attic space. I decided to go with that option which his crew installed. His crew came out when scheduled and perfomed all the work. James even kept me abreast of the work by sending me pictures during the work. When I got home, I asked why the shingles didn't match the current ones. He said they do but I need to wash my roof. I didn't even know this service existed. I had my roof washed the next day by a different contractor and now my roof looks pretty much brand new. It feels good to come home now because the roof is appealing to the eye. Also, I feel better during rain events that there will be no leaks. James was very knowledgable about his work and very professional. I really appreciated him recommending keeping the roof and doing some maintenance rather than just changing it out. This was probably the best experience I had with any contractor so far. I definately recommend him.

I initially purchased a Big Deal after getting several estimates from other roofers. Got a great deal, James Pruett called me within a couple hours to come out and do a walk-down of the job. My roof is quite a bit bigger than what the deal specified, almost twice the size, and James took the measurements, showed me areas that were in need of a little extra attention, and pointed out a couple things that were just not right. He is very laid back, yet professional, and I never once felt pressured or misled on the scope of work. He took a lot of pictures, measured things twice, explained what he was doing, and why, showed me all the figures on the estimate, and asked if I had any questions. We set the date with an eye to the weather, and he contacted me by both email and phone in the interim. Materials were delivered the afternoon before roofing day. On roofing day, his crew showed up on time, and immediately set to work. His crew was very hard-working, and they were careful not to damage our property, laying out tarps around the perimeter, moving our outside furniture out of the way, covering plants, just really going the extra mile. James had to stop on the way to the job to pick up some additional small items that weren't delivered with the majority of the materials, but was onsite most of the day. He was even up on the roof swinging a hammer with the rest of them! I would come out every hour or so to check progress, and those guys were amazing! Two hours in the roof was stripped, and they were busy cutting out bad spots and replacing them. Another hour or so, repairs complete, the felt was being laid, and starter strip was fastened, shingles started going on, and it was all hand-nailed. No nailguns were used on this job! It was drizzly and cold in the morning, and we were all watching the sky hoping it would not actually rain, but it held off. It seemed to make the guys work even faster, but it cleared up near noon. The crew worked as a team, everyone knew what needed doing, and they laughed and joked around with each other as they worked, no yelling, no cussing, no fighting. Just getting it done in a very effective manner, and even having fun doing the job. It really went a lot quicker than I'd have thought. At the end of the job, he showed me an additional couple places where he had fixed some of the fascia that he hadn't seen was bad in the initial estimate, and showed me the bad boards. He billed me a very small amount extra to cover the material, pretty much at his out-of-pocket cost. The crew was very fastidious with their cleanup, leaving the yard and grounds in better shape than when they showed up. His crew did a fantastic job, finishing the whole thing before dark. James was completely fair and very helpful when I'd wander outside, letting me know what they were doing at each stage. The final bill was within $150 of the initial estimate, a great deal considering all the extra little things they did (painting the roof jacks, the fascia, taking care not to tear up anything but the bad roof, the extra-good cleanup- not a speck of roofing felt, not a single nail, all the joints caulked, leveled, and smooth before painting, even repairing a munched chimney top. I highly recommend Secure Roofing, James took very good care of us, and his taking pride in his company and his work really shows. He followed up with a phone call the next day, and I really appreciate the time he spent making sure everything was just right. Next time I need a roof, I don't even have to get estimates...I know who to call!

It went really well. I appreciated the provider's honesty. The cost turned out to be a lot less than anticipated.

Everything was professionally performed and cleaned afterwards, the pricing and James specifically are fair and honest. Really I could not have asked for a better option when choosing a roofing company to perform the service and stand behind their product and service afterwards. The work was performed in greater quality then I thought when initially making the order. I'm not easily impressed being a Realtor and seeing a few homes here and there in town. If I were to do it all again there would be no doubt about where I would go or recommend friends/clients to in the future.

We were not very happy about the roofing. He tore the old roof down just prior to a major storm so that was really poor timing because they ended up having to do the job really fast. That showed up in that we ended up with more leaks than we originally started out with. I think we ended up with four leaks and originally there was only one. I think he was very rude and arrogant at times. He was trying to repair it but we very unhappy. I would never recommend him. I purchased a Big Deal for this service. The venting was mesh wiring originally and prevented rodents from getting in, but he replaced it with something very fine so that is was really useless. We ended up with creatures easily getting in. One thing that was upsetting to me was when he pulled up the roof there was rot in there. He replaced one board and left one that was equally rotted in place. As a woman, I felt that I was taken advantage of because I would not know all the language involved with that. There were a number of things that were upsetting. I was not happy with him at all. He also put in the wrong sized vent in one area of the roof and that was never replaced. He did come back and try to fix some of the problems.

I had an unusual request from my insurance company to get a form filled out that required a roofer to verify installation of a metal roof as well as its UL 2218 rating. I called several roofing companies in the area, and most were reluctant to help me because they hadn't done it before. I spoke with James, and he was reasonable, easy to talk to, and was willing to do the unusual task. He also charged a fair price when it was complete. I will definitely consider him if I have more involved roof work that needs to be done in the future.

James the owner came out and inspected our roof. He gave us a quote with several options. A few days later at our convenience the roof of our 1 story ranch style home was removed with new felt, etc. including the new roof and cleanup all in 1 day. James is very easy and pleasant to work with and we do recommend Secure Roofing!

Very well. Jim was prompt and cordial. The work performed quickly and without problems. Also Jim personally delivered the receipt and explained thoroughly what was done snd why. I like that personal touch. I called two other roofers via angie's list who never showed up &/or called for an appointment. I rated them with an F. I called this company and James called me right back, we set up a appointment for him to come by a rental home I own for a estimate on roof replacement. James new the product he was selling and I felt very comfortable with his company, I did have 1 other estimate and he was a few hundred less, I don't just pick the company even if he was a couple of hundred higher I still believe I would have choosen his company. He gave a very detailed estimate with measurement of house which he allready invested $20.00 to get a company to get the measurement off Google mapping, where they can measure from a satelite image and a web site where you could upload a picture of your house and put the different shingle on them to see which color you would like. The house decking had some bad spots which he replaced and was included in his price and he took picture of all damaged areas and repairs done, they covered all plants and A/C unit with heavy duty plastic to protect them from falling shingles while taring off roof. They pick up all trash Never could tell they were even there, except for the new roof. He was allways coming by to check on Job. GREAT JOB

I contacted Mr. Pruett for a roof repair estimate. He promptly contacted me to arrange an appt. Unfortunately, he was delayed by an accident on the highway but kept in contact until his arrival. When he arrived, he checked both the exterior of the roof and the interior of the attic. He took photos of the roof & explained his recommendations. After his estimate, we arranged for the roof repair (on a Sunday evening!). He arrived promptly and swiftly completed his work. The repair matches our existing roof shingles flawlessly. We are very happy with the repair.

Working with Jim was a dream. He was very professional and responsive. Everything went well and we will certainly use him again on our other properties. The roof looks great.

James and his Secure Roofing crew did a great job. They removed 4 layers of shingles, replaced rotten decking, and installed a new layer of CertainTeed shingles. It was pretty messy but they did a good job cleaning up. James came back a second time to vacuum the attic to make sure I was satisfied.

As a realtor for 15 years in Houston , I have had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of service professionals. Every once in a while I come across a person/company who is head and shoulders above the rest. In my opinion, James Pruett with Secure Roofing is one of these individuals. With just a very short notice he arrived at the location on time and ready to roll. He was courteous, professional, knowledgable and kind. He went through the subject property very carefully - taking photographs every step of the way - and afterwards provided a complete written estimate for the job. He took the time to explain to me and my client exactly what was going on with the current roof - and that if we wanted to save a few dollars now - we could go that route - but it was ultimately just postponing the inevitable (a whole new roof) and was just going to end up costing more in the long run. I was so impressed with the James' professionalism and knowledge that I can't wait to refer him to one of my clients again - and I know -they will be in great hands! The owner and estimator James was excellent. He explained everything to me as to what was going to happen and how. Very professional and helpful. Answered all of my questions. He was very careful of the weather and so the roof was removed and replaced without rain. He kept me up to date by calling to let me know what was happening and why. Very impressed by his calling! Some companies let you sit and wonder. When they ran out of shingles he personally over saw the completion of my roof even when he had to come out and cover a small spot with plastic during pouring rain. The roof is beautiful and I'm sure will last a long time.

I requested a bid from Secure Roofing and was contacted immediately by James Pruett. He made an appointment and came out to look at my roof and give me a bid. He explained to me that I had a larger roof than covered by the special and I had some bad decking that would have to be replaced. I also decided to add the garage and discoved that there were old shingles to be torn off on the house. In the end I thought I got a good price. The roof replacement went very smoothly. Mr. Pruett was very professional and friendly. He was also helpful in assisting me in working with my homeowners insurance and even made an extra trip across town to meet with the adjuster. The roof was completed in one day and they cleaned up the yard very well. I have no complaints about this company. I would use them again and recommend them highly..

James and his crew were absolutely brilliant!! We were in a bit of a pinch -- more like a crisis! due to heavy rainstorms and not having a roof on the new section of the addition we were building. Called Secure Roofing that Saturday morning and by 1:00 in the afternoon James took measurements and dropped off materials. Later that day James and his crew came and began work. They worked until 8:00 that night and stopped only because we did not have a lip to secure shingles on the new roof area due to new construction. James went off to get the material and said they could return the next day (Sunday) because of our situation and we said, no, everybody deserves a day off! Before they left that day, they made sure we had coverage by placing waterproof felt on the OSB and making sure it was all nailed down. They returned Monday and worked between cloud bursts, but got the job done in a matter of hours! The crew was professional polite, and very cheerful despite the horrible weather and muddy backyard conditions! The extra touch by them running out and getting needed materials we were missing was an added customer service that was unexpected and not often seen in today's business world. James, his crew, and Secure Roofing are number 1 in our book! Will recommend in a heart beat!

They're punctual. They're reasonably priced. They took the time to explain what they were doing and answered my questions. There was no problem whatsoever.

I have been meaning to submit this review for some time but as we all know life gets in the way. I cannot say enough about my experience with James, owner / operator of Secure Roofing. I found out about his company and 3 others through Angie's List and proceeded to get bids for my roof replacement. I selected Secure Roofing, who's estimate was in the middle of the pack, because I was most impressed with James' professionalism and his belief in the CertainTeed product which he was recommending that I install on my roof. We were not able to begin my project right away because I received a denial from my homeowners association. Apparently, the CertainTeed shingle we were intending to install did not meet the minimum weight requirements of our community's architectural guidelines. Here's where many company's would have just walked away and left the customer to fight the battle alone. Not James. He knew immediately what the misunderstanding had to be and he was correct. The fact is that our architectural guidelines were outdated, having been written about 25 years ago. During that time, the shingle industry has made many technological improvements to their product lines including reducing the weight of their shingles. The fact is that ALL competing product manufacturers have reduced the weight of their shingles even though this does not mean that doing so has reduced shingle quality and durability, quite the contrary. For some reason, all shingle brands EXCEPT CertainTeed have chosen to remove their shingle weights off their brochures and packaging. My review committee rejected the CertainTeed shingle believing it was much lighter than the popular brand they recognized even though the reality was that the CertainTeed shingle actually carried MORE weight than their "accepted" brand. In the end, it took a lot of effort but we were able to educate my association on these facts over the course of about 6 weeks and I was finally awarded approval. Most importantly, I never would have been able to win this battle were it not for James efforts staying in helping me all along the way. He stayed in constant contact with me and gave me industry information which I desperately needed. It speaks volumes about his character as a person which is another reason why I'm so glad I chose his company to replace my roof. The job was the easy part. James recommended several areas where we could improve upon my roofing system. I knew that I wanted ridge vents and he suggested that we install some static venting in certain areas of my 1st floor roof that were isolated from the home's 2nd floor ventilation system. We also installed Polaralum insulating barrier over those areas. There were 2 areas on my roof that had been damaged by rain over the years. They had been and were poised to be problematic to me again in the future. Secure Roofing men immediately recognized these 2 areas of concern and James directed them to make repairs so that I will not have problems with these areas again. My schedule was driving the timeline for the install date but James was very careful to select a day that had a dry forecast. We were worried about rain on what would be day 2 of the job so James placed double the manpower on my house. The guys were on my roof at daybreak and had removed and installed about 53 squares by sundown. They swept the area clean of all debris coming back the next day to sweep again and to tie up any loose ends. My wife and I could not be happier with our new roof. I am extremely happy that I selected Secure Roofing to perform such an important home improvement project. I am pleased to give them my highest possible endorsement.

He was good. He called me promptly. So far, I don't have a problem with them. I haven't gotten the work done yet. It is scheduled for August, but so far, he has been very, very professional. We went with them because the person I talked to was really professional and also because of the reviews. I think he is really reasonable.

I emailed 4 Angie's List contractors for estimates on replacing our roof. Two sent guys out to measure it and then emailed us quotes, averaging $9500. One guy showed up and measured it, gave a similar estimate, but told us it wasn't in dire need of replacement. James inspected our roof, took many pictures, and told us our roof had around 10 more years of life in it! He suggested we repair a few areas, and shared the pictures to show what the issues were. He explained that the discoloration was fungus, not a sign of wear, and suggested we get our roof cleaned. All our neighbors think our roof looks new now that the black streaks are gone! He also replaced part of our soffit, and a piece of siding due to wood rot. After he replaced the shingles on our shed, he came back because he didn't think the shingles on the peak were the right color-perfectionism is something you want to see in a roofer. We were so impressed with his honesty and professionalism. When it is time to replace our roof, we will definitely contact James at Secure Roofing.

James Pruett came out to the house for an inspection and was prompt and professional. I showed him the additional none roof repairs that I wanted done. He did a thorough inspection along with photo documentation of the roof and small repairs. We pick out the style and color of shingles and came to a fair and good price. Scheduled the work for the following Tuesday. The crew showed up on time and immediately got to work. All the work was done professionally and the attention to the small details was greatly appreciated like painting the old tin work to match the new. This roof is a much better quality and better put together then the old one they replaced. It was a really nice day and the crew was able to do everything detailed in the quote including the small repairs in a single day. They had kept up with the mess of the job through out the day and made a super effort to clean up when they were done, they left the yard cleaner then they found it! The house looks beautiful now!

James Pruett was professional and yet very compassionate to my needs and lack of understanding when it came to roofing. I felt safe in in that he was honest in every way including the damages and the cost. The work that was provided went above and beyond my expectations and I was soo grateful!!
