Description of Work: Toilets wouldn't flush properly. Plumber bemoaned the current low-flow toilets, adjusted the water pressure, and the problem disappeared.

Up to this point the resolution has been effective. Even if the problem occurs within a period of time, they have said that they will come back at no cost.

+ 0 moreI found them through Angie's List, they had good ratings and lots of feedback. I chose to use them because they have access to the latest equipment and they are available 24 hours. We have to be able to get a hold of them around the clock and they have great response time. Right now, I am having a very difficult time getting a commercial account set up with them. The woman who handles their commercial accounts just will not get back with me, everything else seems great.
Description of Work: Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Service does work for me for an apartment building I manage. Currently I have a service agreement for them to come out every other month and water jet a common line on a condominium building. Also, they run a camera up it each time to check on the status of it. I pay $318 every other month.

They did fix whatever they said they were going to do. They were really nice and neat. I was happy with what they did. They cleaned up the mess too.

+ 1 moreThey did good and saved me approximately $5,000. I contacted another company and they told me that they were supposed to change the drainage lines and sewer line from the house to the city. Roto-Rooter came and said that there was no sign of overflowing. They said that the pipe into the house was a bit clogged. They basically cleaned them out. It works very good. They were very professional and fast in their service. I would recommend them and the cost was very affordable. I called them again and they are coming next week to change a pipe line in the bathroom.
Description of Work: I used Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Service to check the sewer line because I was having some drainage problem.

+ 0 moreIm on the board of a condo building and was made aware of backed up plumbing at 445pm on a Friday. I called our usual people and got voice mail. As the problem could not wait till Monday or even Saturday I called RotoRooter, They told me they could have someone out within the hour. Sure enough Phil was there right on time and got right to work. He came out took a look at the situation and gave me a quote of 245 minus the 30 dollar angies list coupon for a total of 215. He snaked the line out and after about 45 minutes of cold smelly work was able to get the line unclogged. He was also kind enough to run a camera up the line for no additional charge and found that the chronically blocked line was caused by a "belly" in the line. Not good news as it will be expensive to repair but no one else in the last 10 years has been able to tell us why the line repeatedly plugged. Although Roto Rooter gets a bad rap for being expensive they charged more than 100 dollars less then the "local" guy has been charging us and found the cause not just fixed the symptom. They also offered a 30 day warranty on the work (6 months for non commercial work) and that is something the other plumbers we use never offered.

+ 0 moreWe had heavy down pour yesterday evening and our yard and porch had high water. This isn't unusual but when the rain stopped the water didn't drain as usual through the outside drains. We called Roto Rooter and asked for service. They called back about 20 minutes later to tell us a tech was on the way. He came, he cleaned the drains, the water went down and we're very happy. The tech was very professional and polite. The Angie's list coupon for $30 off was a nice bonus!

Description of Work: They were scheduled to arrive between 8 am and 11 am. After several calls with numerous delays, I cancelled it at 2pm. I looked at the link on the Angie's List that took me to the Better Business Bureau. After seeing the "F" rating, I cancelled the appointment. I was also curious about the lack of information in 2009 from members using this company.

+ -1 moreThis was a three day job, as I already mentioned. Sampson and Allen worked very hard, and very well together. You may guess this job was a major one for them, and an even bigger one for us! We have two cats, and two dogs, and I had to figure out how to keep all of our animals half-way happy during these three days. I pretty much camped out in one of our bedrooms during the time that this work was getting done, as I didn't want our pets getting in the way of our two servicemen. Sampson and Allen were very cooperative, there were times that the men stayed out of our backyard, so that I could go back there and let our pups run loose. The first night was probably our most difficult one as we had no water, but we could live with that inconvenience, because we knew that in the end, we would have no more pipes leaking, what a wonderful day that was going to be!!! Both Sampson and Allen cleaned up behind each other as they went along. My husband and I were very pleased with both of these men!
Description of Work: Sampson, and his assistant, Allen, did a total re-pipe of our house. We live in an older home that had the galvanized pipes running all over the attic. We have had one pipe after another develop leaks, and consequently we have had a couple ceilings ruined. Right after Christmas we had one last leak above our kitchen, and we knew that if this problem wasn't corrected it was only a matter of time before that ceiling was going to fall in! Plumbers have been coming out for the past five years putting clamps on our leaking pipes. This was the last straw! Sampson and Allen worked for three days, replacing every pipe in our attic, cutting out, and removing all of the old pipe, and then insulating all of their new PVC piping. They did use copper pipe on any outside faucets, and inward from there a couple of feet. They bolted down the PVC pipe every four feet, as required. They arrived very promptly at 8:30 each morning, as promised, and their work ethic was one to be very proud of by any boss!!! I don't think that you could find two more meticulous plumbers if you searched the world over! Maybe the price was high, but the quality of their work was worth every penny. There were a few extra things that Sampson did for us, like he bought, and installed a new faucet for our guest bathroom, repaired the toilet in there, bought and installed a new spout for the bathtub in our master bathroom. He had to move the house connection to our city waterline, it was set up straight behind the oven originally. He also installed a faucet on the back of our house. They had to do more sheetrock cutting than they originally thought they were going to have to do, because the original plumbing was poorly planned and very difficult to access. It was Allen that cut the sheetrock, and then when they were finished putting the new pipes in that particular area, Allen put pieces of two-by-four in the wall, and then he very carefully reattached each piece of sheetrock. He did a really neat job. Now we need to contact someone that works with sheetrock and all he will have to do is to tape and float, and then paint each of those areas. When their work was completed, Sampson took me up into the attic so that I could check out their very neat job! You could see the pride in his face as he went over their completed work with me! As promised, he did install two access doors to the plumbing behind each bathtub. The men did everything they had agreed to do and more!We are very pleased!

+ -1 moreTheir price was more than other small local companies, which they acknowledged. Their quality of work was great and they gave us a warranty for 10 years. They did work for free too, because we had plumbing problems and they didn't resolve them initially, so they came out and fixed those problems. They were prompt, friendly, the guy in charge of the project was getting back to us all the time to make sure we were happy. Their punctuality was great, they cleaned up and they followed up to make sure we were happy with everything. The owner was excellent, very professional and kind. We plan on using them again.
Description of Work: We use them for plumbing. They replaced some old galvanized piping running from our house to the sewer.

+ 0 moreThey arrived late but that was due to the fact that they had so many jobs over the holidays and had to pick up parts and other workers to dig up the yard and complete the prior job. I did learn to double check the appointments with the dispatch and to make sure that the job is input correctly into the system. When they were first due to come out the job was put in as an estimate for an excavation not the actual excavation which delayed the work getting started. However, when the company realized their error, they located someone working in the area to come over to the house to look at what needed to be done and scheduled the work.
Description of Work: The main sewer line had broken over the Christmas Holidays and water backed up into the house. I called one plumbing company who gave me incorrect information prior to my calling Roto Rooter. They came out, sent a camera down the line and located where the line had broken. They sent an excavation team out the day after Christmas and dug up the front yard. Located where the line was broken and the tree root had grown into the line. They cut the tree root, repaired the line and replaced the dirt (mud) back into the hole. No problems since they completed the work.

+ 3 moreA huge pine tree in the backyard collapsed an old concrete 4" sewer pipe on the kitchen/laundry room line. Roto-Rooter ran a camera up the pipes so they could accurately diagnose the problems. There was also a broken joint in the main sewer line and small roots were starting to invade the main line. They presented two options: one with partial replacement and one with full replacement. We opted for the full because we could see ongoing clean-outs of the main line. We felt that big pine tree would eventually damage the main line -especially since it was only inches from the tree-trunk. The next day, a 6-man crew dug out the old line, and installed the new one. By that night we had a completely new sewer system. The following day, the crew came back to fill in the trenches. They discovered they broke a couple of the PVC lines for the underground sprinkler and repaired them. Roto-Rooter came back and cleaned out the remaining metal pipes.
Description of Work: Complete replacement of underground sewer system from the metal pipes coming from the house to the city sewer line.

I thought that was funny. They were probably more expensive than others but they have the best rep in the neighborhood and that is why we chose to go with them. They showed us no problems at all. + 0 moreHe was very polite but he arrived 45 minutes late. He gave us a free estimate, which was very nice. I then agreed to let him do the work. It took 30 minutes once he started. He was very informative in telling us what to do so that we don't have to call them again plus they guarantee six months on any work performed. If I have this problem in the future then I think I will rent the machine from Lowes and do the work myself. My main complaint, other than price, was that I found his rubber gloves in my drive way this morning. There was no reason for that.
